Journey 1995:Non-Stop

Chapter 138 Run!

Chapter 138 Run!
Yan Hui took out a packet of instant noodles and crushed it through the plastic bag.

He didn't crush it into very small pieces, just broke it into about a dozen pieces, then tore open the plastic bag and took out the seasoning packet.

Yan Hui opened a small hole in the seasoning packet, sprinkled about half of it into the instant noodles, and put the rest into the plastic bag used to roll the flatbread. He could sprinkle it on top when eating the flatbread.

With nothing to do, Yan Hui took out a book on woodworking machinery from his bag and began reading it under the dim incandescent light.

As I watched, the wind picked up outside, and then snowflakes began to fall.

In the two weeks since Yan Hui arrived, there has been snow in the forest farm, but it hasn't snowed at all.

It's already the end of April, and it's amazing that it's still snowing.

Yan Hui wasn't worried about the snow. It only took him an hour to walk to the train station, and two hours at most if the snow was deep. The snow at this time of year wouldn't freeze and wouldn't affect train traffic.

Just as I was reading, another motorcycle pulled up in front of the door, and a man came in. He was a friend of the two businessmen from Northeast China from before.

After pushing the door open, the man looked at Yan Hui, then at the two porters, and then sat down by the stove, taking out a roast chicken and a bottle of wine from his clothes.

Yan Hui only glanced at it before continuing to eat his instant noodles and read his book.

He planned to write a letter to Haotian, one of Teng's subordinates, mainly about the surface planer. Even if Teng saw the letter, it wouldn't matter, since it was all technical stuff.

The workpieces processed by a surface planer are generally relatively dry raw materials after sawing. It is generally specified that the difference in surface area should not exceed 150 micrometers over a length of 1 meter. This is a very precise device, which cannot be achieved by band saw alone.

The book mentions a wide variety of machines, from the Italian SCM F52 planer to domestically produced conventional planers, with specifications including equipment models and lifting mechanisms. Yan Hui also recorded data such as guide rail tilt angle, opening increment, and cutting depth.
When I get back tomorrow, I'll send the letter to Haotian. Once Haotian receives the letter, whether or not I can persuade President Teng to buy the planer, Haotian will definitely appreciate the favor.

After reading for more than two hours, Yan Hui was getting sleepier and sleepier. He couldn't understand some of the formulas in the book, but luckily, it wasn't his major. A packet of instant noodles wasn't enough to keep him full, so he put the cooled flatbread next to the stove to warm it up, then sprinkled on some instant noodle seasoning. He slowly ate half of the flatbread, and only then did he feel comfortable in his stomach and full of energy.

After walking for almost the entire day and reading for so long in the evening, Yan Hui was exhausted. He found a corner, grabbed a dirty blanket, and lay down.

When sleeping outside, Yan Hui doesn't have the habit of taking off his clothes. Holding his bag, Yan Hui fell into a deep sleep.

In his sleep, Yan Hui seemed to hear some sounds, but he was so sleepy that he didn't seem to hear them.

The sound is still somewhat
It sounded like someone was touching his arm. The rustling sound was almost deafening in Yan Hui's ears. He woke up with a start, and an instinct made him quickly hug the blanket. He looked around and found that it was pitch black.

"Don't move, or you'll be dead!" Yan Hui heard a deep voice.

The house was dark at night, but the snow outside provided a sliver of light.

Yan Hui couldn't see anyone, but he saw a long knife held to his neck.

Before even touching the blade, one can already feel its chill.

"Don't move, kid. We'll take some money for your passage. Be good, we won't kill you." It was the same voice from before.

"Why waste your breath on him?" another person said, reaching out to pull at Yan Hui's blanket and grab his bag.

Yan Hui hugged the blanket tightly, his heart rate soaring to over 150.

Two weeks ago, Yan Hui was held at gunpoint, which terrified him, as it was the first time he had ever experienced something like this in his life.

After that experience, Yan Hui matured. He dared to say that if that thing were pressed against his head again, he wouldn't be as afraid as before.

There was only death to be had! After a brief moment of racing heart, he calmed down a little and, amidst the pushing and pulling of another person, handed over his bag.

The bag contained paper, pens, books, a knife, and some food. Besides that, there was only a piece of clothing and a little loose change.

He was wearing almost all his clothes, and as for the money, it was sewn into three hidden places on his body, just like before.

When his bag was snatched away, Yan Hui realized that there were three people involved.

The one with the knife is the one who arrived late tonight; the other two are the "merchants" who were there from the beginning.

Yan Hui's brain was racing, but unfortunately he hadn't heard a word the people were saying tonight and knew nothing about them. The only thing he knew was that all three of them had drunk some alcohol.

At this moment, the two men were quickly checking Yan Hui's bag, but the light was too dim, so they could only grope around. This made the man with the knife a little anxious: "How much money is inside?"

It seems like this is where it is.

Yan Hui had no chance to give the three of them a chance to talk. Taking advantage of the man holding the knife being distracted, he grabbed the blanket and flipped it over to cover his neck and other areas. He turned around and threw a punch at the man holding the knife.

It was very difficult to exert force from this position, but because of the dim light and Yan Hui's sudden burst of speed, none of the three people could react in time.

Yan Hui threw the quilt aside and stood up on the kang (a heated brick bed).

The three men, some sitting and some lying down, were already somewhat unsteady. The one Yan Hui punched fell flat on his face on the bed. Without waiting, Yan Hui jumped off the bed, pushed open the door, and ran out.

It was impossible for Yan Hui to fight three people in a narrow space. As soon as he stepped out, he had no sense of direction and immediately ran up the mountain.

From the moment Yan Hui suddenly attacked until he pushed open the door and came out, the entire process took only five or six seconds. He barely thought about anything and relied entirely on instinct to seek advantage and avoid harm.

The snow outside was already more than 20 centimeters thick, and Yan Hui couldn't see the road at all. At this moment, he couldn't ask the forest farm for help, let alone ask the dogs for help. He could only run, and keep running.

By this time, the three people inside had come out one after another, and Yan Hui had already run seven or eight meters away.

The snow outside had stopped, and the moon had come out. It was clearly late at night. Yan Hui spotted the location of the houses in the forest farm and, while running, determined his direction. He planned to run to the train station that very night.

"You little brat, where do you think you're going!"

"Don't rush, go back and check your bag, I just felt it."

"We'll see later, hurry and chase after them!"

"Grab your bag and keep chasing, car keys, car keys!"

The three people behind him were in a panic, and it took them more than ten seconds to start the motorcycle.

Yan Hui, who had escaped, was unusually calm; he knew he was safe. Even if it weren't snowing, these three wouldn't be able to catch him if he ran up the mountain.

He kept running, and the three men started their motorcycles and began to chase him. However, due to the snow, the motorcycles were very difficult to run. One of them started the motorcycle and soon fell to the ground. He threw off the motorcycle and started chasing, but the chase only made him get further and further away.
