“The reason you were fixated on your ideal type, was it because of your parents’ divorce?”

Hina lazily opened her eyelids and asked Hasegawa as she lay next to him.

“Well, that’s inevitable, isn’t it? Although I don’t think that way anymore, and I know that my parents had their own circumstances to deal with, but at that time they seemed very lonely. I didn’t want to make my children experience that…”

Hasegawa said as he held Hina from behind, with his face snuggled on her neck. Hina felt ticklish and squirmed in his embrace.

“…Shall I do my best?”

“About?”

“To become your ideal type. I can’t guarantee it though…”

Behind her, she felt Hasegawa take a deep breath. Then in a surprised tone, he inquired. “What’s with you all of a sudden? Didn’t you hate it before?”

“Well, I thought it’s not a bad idea to change myself for the person I like… Back then, I didn’t have feelings for you…” Hina pursed her lips as her face flushed. Hasegawa embraced her tighter. 

“It’s a tempting offer and I appreciate the thought but… please don’t bother.”

“Why?”

“That day when you became slightly more attractive, I realized that I was in trouble… Besides, I also don’t think there’s ever gonna be a dull moment with you in the future…”

A sweet sugary voice melted her ears. Hiding her ticklish feeling, Hina muttered, “Is that so…”

Since they were on the topic, Hina decided to ask another question that has been bugging her.

“Hasegawa, since when did you…um, like me?” She anxiously asked.

Thinking about it, they didn’t have much interaction prior to the day he confessed. They have worked several times together, but they have always just talked about work.

“Well. Once when I was late to work, you poured me a cup of coffee, didn’t you?”

“I’m sorry, I don’t quite remember…”

“I thought so.” She felt him laughing behind her, and Hina scratched her cheeks in shame.

“I can’t pinpoint exactly when I started liking you, but that was when I started becoming interested. To be more precise, it’s probably because you remembered my preference in coffee.”

“Preference in coffee?” After repeating the words back like a parrot, Hina furrowed her brows. It didn’t make sense to her at all.

“To be honest, I don’t have much trouble with women.”

“Yes, I know that but…” Wondering why he was suddenly bragging about himself, Hina turned her head in confusion. Indeed, he was popular with women. That was a well-known fact.

“When you were working with me, you weren’t pushy like other women. You were diligent and even remembered my preference in coffee. I thought you were such a lovely and thoughtful woman.”

“I see…” Feeling touched, Hina blushed as she remembered the first time she prepared him coffee in the room next door. That was the day he first entered her room and they cleaned it up together.

When she placed the coffee in front of him then, Hasegawa looked rather strange. Now she finally understood how he felt during that time.

“Thank you for falling in love with me.”

Hina expressed wholeheartedly and heard Hasegawa sigh behind her. She turned her body and faced Hasegawa, wondering if she did something wrong.

The corner of his eyes reddened and he gazed at Hina bitterly.

“Saying that in this situation is unfair, you know.” He hugged her tightly as their body temperature mixed together.

Overwhelmed with happiness in her heart, Hina couldn’t help but smile. Then, in an affectionate voice, Hasegawa whispered, “I love you,” before pressing their lips together.
