Bringing the farm to another world
Chapter 15918 Conspiracy
Chapter 15918 Conspiracy
"The incident of a ghost attacking people in Qingshan Village requires an outer disciple to handle it."
Chen Feng looked at the task, then wrote down the task number. He then went directly to the counter and said to a disciple who was recording tasks, "I accept task number 45 (Bingzi)."
The disciple picked up a notebook, flipped through it, and then nodded, saying, "Alright, Mission Number 45 (Category C), Identity Token." Chen Feng handed the identity token to the man, who glanced at it, wrote Chen Feng's name after the mission, and then gave the token back to Chen Feng. Chen Feng took the token and walked straight outside. Once outside the small building, Chen Feng took flight and flew away into the distance.
What Chen Feng didn't notice was that as he flew away, someone else followed him, but he stayed at a distance.
Chen Feng didn't notice the other party and just kept flying forward. In their continent, because of the abundant spiritual energy, some special things always happen. There are ghosts and monsters that often hurt people. Although some people on the continent also cultivate, their talents are not very good. Under normal circumstances, they are no match for ghosts and monsters. So in the end, they can only report the matter to the sect. The sect will treat these matters as tasks and assign them to the sect disciples.
Chen Feng used to avoid taking on such missions because they were risky, but now he wanted to. He had seen the location of the mission; it wasn't far from their place. If he could resolve it quickly that day, he could return on the same day and also display his arrogance to the villagers—a win-win situation. That's why he accepted the mission.
After flying forward for about an hour, he saw a village nestled at the foot of a mountain. Chen Feng flew directly over and landed in the village.
His actions startled the villagers, who all came out. Soon, an old man dressed in coarse cloth approached Chen Feng. The old man looked to be in his sixties or seventies, with white hair. He bowed to Chen Feng and said, "Greetings, Master."
These people could be considered members of the Qinglan Sect, but they were just ordinary people under the Qinglan Sect's rule. They had to pay their respects when they saw Qinglan Sect disciples, which is why he called Chen Feng "Master".
Chen Feng nodded and said, "I heard there are ghosts here? What's going on?" Chen Feng tilted his head slightly, looked at the old man with an arrogant expression, and didn't stand on ceremony with him, asking the question directly.
The old man hurriedly replied, "Reporting to Master, it is like this: several villagers from our village went into the mountains to gather firewood and did not return all day. So we took some people up the mountain to look for them, and we found several bodies on the mountain. However, their deaths were too strange. Please come with me, Master." After saying this, the old man made a gesture of invitation, and Chen Feng followed the old man forward.
Soon they arrived at the village's threshing ground, where several coffins were placed, but they were clearly homemade and looked very crude.
Before the old man could speak, Chen Feng walked directly to a coffin. He glanced at the person inside and found that the corpse was indeed strange. The corpse's face was ashen, and there was even a layer of frost on its body. It was summer, so how could there be frost on the corpse?
Chen Feng asked, "How many days has he been dead? Was the frost on his body there before, or did you use magic?"
The old man quickly said, "They've been dead for three days. The frost on their bodies was all there from the beginning. We didn't dare touch it with our hands, because even we would get frostbite if we did. We carried them back with wooden sticks."
Chen Feng nodded and carefully examined the corpses. They all looked the same, as if they had been frozen to death, but not quite. Chen Feng said in a deep voice, "Call someone over and take me to the place where the bodies were found."
The old man quickly responded, and then he called over a young man who looked to be only in his twenties. However, the young man was not very strong and had an honest face. When he arrived in front of Chen Feng, he immediately bowed to Chen Feng.
Chen Feng nodded, then waved his hand, and a cloud of mist appeared beneath their feet, instantly lifting them into the air. Chen Feng then said, "Give us the way."
The young man stood cautiously on the fog. Upon hearing Chen Feng's words, he quickly pointed in a direction. Chen Feng didn't say anything more and flew straight in that direction.
A moment later, the young man pointed to a place in the mountains and said to Chen Feng, "Master, it's there."
Chen Feng nodded and flew over directly, then landed in the sky. When he arrived, Chen Feng couldn't help but frown because he sensed a very strong yin energy. He knew very well what this meant; it meant that it was indeed the work of ghosts.
Chen Feng walked slowly through the area, sensing his surroundings as he went. He quickly detected traces of yin energy in one direction and headed straight for it, with the young man following closely behind. Not long after Chen Feng left, a figure landed where Chen Feng had just been. The figure frowned, then muttered, "Yin energy? Is there really a ghost? This is interesting." He then walked in the direction Chen Feng had gone. This person was none other than Zhang Cheng.
Chen Feng was unaware that Zhang Cheng was following him. He slowly walked forward, sensing the changes around him as he went. Before long, he arrived in front of a cave. The cave looked dark and deep, and the yin energy was coming from inside the cave.
Chen Feng turned to the young man and asked, "Have you seen this cave before?"
The young man nodded and said, "I've seen it before. This cave has been here for a long time. It's a large natural cave. We used to rest in this cave when we went up the mountain. It's very comfortable inside, warm in winter and cool in summer."
Chen Feng nodded, then said, "You wait here, don't go in." The young man responded and stood at the entrance of the cave, even taking a few steps back.
Chen Feng glanced at him but didn't say anything. He walked directly into the cave, and at the same time, mist rose from his body, enveloping him.
Not long after Chen Feng entered the cave, the young man felt a pain in his neck and collapsed to the ground unconscious. Zhang Cheng appeared behind the young man, glanced at him, and then walked into the cave.
Chen Feng entered the cave and found that the young man was right. The cave was indeed very large. Once inside, there was a large space, and what was rare was that the space was also very flat.
However, Chen Feng frowned after looking at it. He found that the space seemed a bit too flat, not like it was naturally formed. He carefully observed the space and then noticed that it was indeed not naturally formed. Someone had used magic to flatten the ground here. This made Chen Feng curious. He took a closer look at the place and prepared to walk inside.
Just then, a voice suddenly rang out: "Rise!" With this voice, a huge Bagua diagram suddenly appeared under Chen Feng's feet. Chen Feng felt a tremendous force envelop him, making it difficult for him to move.
Chen Feng's expression changed. This situation could not possibly be caused by ghosts; it must be caused by a person. He glanced around and then shouted, "Who is it? Come out here!"
"Hahaha, Young Master Jade Bottle, you're so impressive!" With that voice, a person slowly walked out of the cave entrance. Upon seeing the person, Chen Feng was taken aback, then he snorted coldly and said, "Zhang Cheng, it's you. You dare to show your face in front of me?"
Zhang Cheng looked at Chen Feng with a cold smile on his face and said, "Chen Feng, last time you made me look so bad in the life-or-death arena, I'm here today to take your life."
Chen Feng looked at Zhang Cheng, then sneered, "Zhang Cheng, are you crazy? Last time in the life-or-death arena, I could have killed you, but I spared your life. You don't even know how to be grateful, and now you dare to provoke me. I think you want to die."
Upon hearing Chen Feng's words, Zhang Cheng's face showed a hint of humiliation. He looked at Chen Feng and gritted his teeth, saying, "Chen Feng, your biggest mistake was not killing me last time. But today I will not spare you. You are now under the control of my magic array. Let's see how you die."
Chen Feng looked at Zhang Cheng and said in a deep voice, "Zhang Cheng, don't you know that I have already reached the Qi level? Do you think such a magic array can trap me?" After saying that, without any visible movement from Chen Feng, a cloud of mist suddenly rose from under Zhang Cheng's feet and directly enveloped him.
Zhang Cheng never expected that Chen Feng, already inside the magic array, could still attack with mist. Just as he was about to make a move, he saw Chen Feng clench his fist. The next moment, he heard a cracking sound, and Zhang Cheng felt excruciating pain all over his body. He couldn't help but scream in agony, but the mist didn't stop. Instead, the mist tightened like a rope, and Zhang Cheng couldn't even scream anymore. He spat out a mouthful of blood, his eyes bulged out, and his face turned bluish-purple. He was strangled to death by the mist.
Zhang Cheng was unaware that Chen Feng's cultivation speed was advancing by leaps and bounds. Moreover, Chen Feng knew that he would inevitably have to fight in the future, so he had previously prayed to the gods to improve his combat power. In this way, he could enter the gray mist space and spar with the people inside. Therefore, his combat experience was much richer than that of ordinary cultivators, especially his control over his own momentum.
The reason he spoke to Zhang Cheng was to attract Zhang Cheng's attention and then secretly use mist to approach Zhang Cheng from below. Zhang Cheng fell for it. Of course, this was also related to his lack of understanding of the magic array. So he was directly ambushed by Chen Feng and killed instantly. Zhang Cheng probably never dreamed that he would die like this. Sure enough, villains die because they talk too much.
