Chapter 100, Section 038: Counterfeit
The sword flashed.
King Kong's head was severed by the short, curved blade, his hands remaining clasped together in a downward-pounding motion.
The arrogant body leaped over the headless Vajra, then flipped over and squatted down to dissipate the force.
Its massive body collapsed with a deafening roar, like a mountain of gold or a jade pillar crumbling.
"Watch out!" Greed shouted.
Suddenly, a crisis arose. King Kong, who had been half-fallen, had his head turn back to his neck as pus and blood. In an instant, he braced himself with one hand, twisted his waist, and reached out with his other arm to grab Pride.
Its thick arms were covered in hair, a dark mass that rose up like pillars reaching the sky.
Arrogance didn't hesitate. He raised his leg and delivered a thrusting kick, striking the palm and deflecting the brute force that was about to hit him. The violent force slammed King Kong's hand against the wall. Only then did the burly man, losing his balance, twist his elbow and fall to the ground.
Almost simultaneously, the interior walls were suddenly stretched and deformed. In less than three seconds, the entire wall collapsed in the direction of greed, as if some huge creature was charging in from behind.
"Moo—" The sound was like a booming bell, like a croaking call but even more muffled, with a substantial weight.
Greed's eyes widened, and he shouted, "Kneel down!"
A sudden cloud of dust billowed up, and before the enormous creature could even get close enough to greedily approach, the ground suddenly sank, collapsing along with the tiled pavement.
The enormous head shook violently, stirring the wall surface. The sticky wall plaster and sand fell off, revealing two huge incisors. Its blood-red maw devoured the stones in the wall with a crunching sound, even gnawing off a piece of the ground that was blocking its way.
"Roar!" The fallen King Kong also flipped up and used his amazing jumping power to leap directly to the top of the stairwell. He swung his arms and pounded the building, and the devastating shockwave made the ground tremble.
Arrogantly retreating, he found the ground vibrating. Before he could even catch his breath, a new beast emerged from behind him—a ferocious antelope with two menacing horns, bloodshot eyes, and a three-meter-long, powerful body. Its agile four legs created a hurricane as it ran. Had the path not restricted its movement, its momentum would likely have been even more ferocious.
Arrogance was caught in a pincer attack. He first stabilized his position, found the rhythm of the ground shaking, and after a few jolts, firmly planted his footing, gripping the short curved blade in his hand even tighter.
King Kong's fingers had already dug into the wall, pried out a large piece of stone, and scattered it along with the wall plaster.
Greed frowned. In his arrogant vision, he could not see these inanimate objects. He could only judge their general location by the air currents and movements.
Just as he was distracted, he heard a whooshing sound under his feet. A python as thick as an elephant's leg sneaked out from a crack in the wall he had pushed open. It had already coiled up once in the blink of an eye and was lunging to bite at his combat boots.
Pythons are lightning-fast hunters, often lurking until the perfect moment to finish off their prey in one bite.
Greedy eyes widened, and with a roar, he thrust his combat boot toward the python's head.
The snake was about to catch up in the blink of an eye, lunging forward and opening its mouth, only to find that the opponent's kick was faster and harder. As it pounced, it felt the opponent's black military boots already pressed against its jaw. The next instant, half of the snake's body was violently thrown out by the impact, leaning back three meters and slamming against the wall with a thud.
At the same time, the mooing giant slowly crawled out of the pit. Its limbs were as thick as pillars, and it bit down with its upper and lower jaws. It was then recognized as a hippopotamus with bright red eyes.
"Roar!" The berserk King Kong, seeing that its attack had missed Pride, stamped its feet in anger, making a thumping sound on its chest. The charging antelope twisted its horns, its charge being quickly thwarted by Pride, who dodged its path. Pride then leaned back and leaped against the narrow corner above the stairwell, landing like a high jumper behind the antelope.
The enraged King Kong collided with the overly aggressive antelope. The antelope seemed to have run into a wall of flesh, its mane tightly wedged into its horns. King Kong grabbed the antelope by the neck, lifted the three-meter-long beast up, and remained unmoved despite the antelope's thrashing hooves. He then used the antelope as a throwing tool and hurled it away.
With its head held high in arrogance, it turned its head away and retreated rapidly along with the swirling airflow, disappearing into a corner where the light couldn't reach it.
The helpless antelope fell to the ground with a dull thud, pawing wildly as it tried to regain its balance, only to find that a number of its ribs and leg bones were broken. It limped to its feet, snorting and growling.
Just as King Kong was about to give chase, a greedy arm came swiping at him from behind. The man drew his military knife and slashed it viciously into the artery in his neck. With brute force, he pulled it down, piercing through the collarbone and reaching the chest muscle.
The beast's blood sprayed all over Greed's face. King Kong was momentarily stunned, like a firecracker about to explode suddenly going silent. His raised hand was halfway out, but he never struck it down.
Ignoring the blood on his face, Greed kicked King Kong's upper body, retreating while avoiding the python's second bite. The enormous hippo finally managed to free its limbs from the wall, its jaws still full of pebbles, before it swooped down on Greed.
The man, fearless as he was, grabbed his iron fist, lowered his center of gravity, and snapped his fingers together, as if to catch the rampaging hippo's bite.
The ground trembled and rumbled as the giant beast approached, its downward momentum undiminished, turning its head to greedily bite down.
A hippopotamus's bite force exceeds two thousand kilograms; it can instantly shatter even a tortoise shell, let alone bare hands. Any resistance would be futile.
Greed, veins bulging, roared and swung his arm high into the sky, grabbed King Kong's arm, squeezed the muscle group, bent down and slammed the entire hundreds-of-kilograms-weight King Kong giant ape onto his back and shoulder.
The next moment, the hippo charged forward, and the flesh wall made a cracking sound. The shockwave sent Greed flying, knife and all.
The resurrected King Kong was also pushed to the ground, the two giant beasts wrestled together, the two fleshy walls squeezed together, completely blocking the corridor. The walls, unable to bear the weight, were deformed by the pressure. The two bloated ferocious beasts could not struggle out for a short time, and the python was also blocked. The three giant beasts wrestled and thrashed, roaring incessantly.
Greed tumbled several times, grabbing the ground to catch his breath, spitting out a mouthful of blood. The dazed antelope next to him was kicked into the wall by him, its two horns flapping. Greed was still not satisfied, so he grabbed another military knife and stabbed it viciously into the antelope's throat.
Arrogance revealed himself, his face grave: "These beasts are imitating us."
Reminded by her words, Greed immediately noticed that the ferocious King Kong often wore an angry expression, its face contorted in a grotesque grimace; the hill-sized hippopotamus would frequently open its mouth to bite, its bite force astonishing, its appetite undoubtedly considerable; and this giant antelope…
At this moment, the antelope shook its head, and upon spotting the arrogant figure in its field of vision, it continued to snort and paw the ground with its front hooves, fully prepared to charge.
“It represents lust,” said Arrogance. “That is to say, there are seven such beasts.”
"That python must represent greed." Greed gritted his teeth and cursed, "You're tired of living."
Today, a jerk finally remembered his Qidian account and even called me at 2 AM. I was quite happy, and it reminded me of the spirited scene we had in 2018, which gave me a little renewed fighting spirit.
My life has been incredibly hectic lately. I work during the day, cook and shop for groceries in the evening, and only get around 10 PM to start writing. Just barely making ends meet.
