Reflections on Chapter 62, Volume 2
Reflections on Chapter 62, Volume Two
call.
Volume Two is finally finished.
Although the title "Superman Can't Have Children" is easy to criticize, my thought at the time was that, conversely, the subtext is that a man who can have children is not actually a superman; he is a father, nothing more.
To be honest, I took a bit of a risk in writing the second volume.
Let's start with inspiration.
The elements in the text are special effects (tokusatsu).
Because I'm a tokusatsu fan, I tried to incorporate this element.
Once, while browsing the news, I saw Takeshi Tsuruno's child, and saw his father (the human form of Ultraman Dyna, the actor who played Shin Asuka) appear in "Orb: The Origin of Orb". I felt so happy and joyful.
Many people may not know Takeshi Tsuruno, and those who do are either die-hard Ultraman fans who have a love-hate relationship with him. Even more people remember him because his real name is Shin Asuka.
The indomitable Asuka, when Dyna's red light is flashing, always says, "The real duel is about to begin," a seemingly childish but eternally passionate statement.
And most importantly, there's his song "I Just Want to Protect You".
Someone used this song to marry a Japanese girl, and the bride was moved to tears.
It's truly a very heartwarming and passionate song; please forgive my poor writing skills for failing to express the feelings it evokes. Rhythm has always been a weakness of writing.
Based on this framework, the story begins with a father who appears successful on the surface but is actually struggling to survive for his daughter. My original expectation was that the girl would be the target of all the monsters, and the father, acting as the administrator, would be working alongside the mother to suppress the monsters and protect his daughter.
But when it comes to warmth and tenderness, it's still really hard to handle.
To be honest, it wasn't written well 0.0.
I really need to improve my ability to build up tension, create atmosphere, and subtly introduce information, which resulted in a confusing entry point for the plot and a lot of dragging at the beginning.
This also proves that I really am a newbie.
There are also many ideas regarding the writing style.
First, the use of split-screen transitions and frequent changes in character perspectives, coupled with the almost simultaneous development of three storylines, can easily lead to confusion. This... is somewhat of an experiment on my part. I've always liked this style, though it doesn't quite qualify as a POV, but it has been influenced by it to some extent.
Second, new characters have been added: Lao Yan and Douzi, both childhood best friends of Lao Jin. Moreover, they are clearly designed as comedic characters, because a purely tragic storyline would lose its appeal. Life can't always be all bitterness.
Lao Yan and Douzi aren't combat-oriented, so I don't know if they'll be more likable, but at least I still take good care of them.
Furthermore, looking at it from another angle, you'll find that no matter how lively or complicated the verbal battles and arguments are among the other characters, Lao Jin is never involved.
He was truly detached from all the laughter and joy. Old Jin's role in this volume is small; the appearance of the supporting characters is necessary for the plot, so I deliberately weakened Old Jin's presence—an unconventional writing style—to avoid creating a strong sense of presence in the Arctic, but this is also a reflection of his real life.
Quiet and polite, he occupies most of his life.
Even in the darkness, the remaining good intentions radiate an undeniable brilliance.
What I can reveal is that this is Lao Jin's final story, and I will do my best to arrange a suitable ending for him and Fu Qin.
Third, let's talk about spirit.
Her heart-giving count is shockingly high. Xiaoling, is it you who watches short videos every day and gives yourself double the heart-giving? Come out and take your punishment!
Back then, people in the group joked that they would assign her a boss role, and in fact, that's exactly what happened. In terms of fighting power, she's probably unmatched even by the end of the series. After all, my operations manager isn't someone who dies so easily, right? (Just kidding)
Her screen time will not increase in the near future (official nerf).
Finally, let's talk about the structure of this book.
Last night we actually discussed a lot of shortcomings, and in some areas we have indeed started to lose momentum.
Originally planned as a series of episodic episodes, each one would push the plot towards the final chapter. However, it seems there are many parts that I haven't explained clearly, including the causes and consequences, and the significance of the events. I'll fill in the gaps gradually through subtle hints later.
The following story will focus more on plot and atmosphere building. It may not be suspenseful, but there should be more content set up.
I had always hoped that while the overall tone of the story was dark, it would at least be heartwarming or touching, so the focus on other aspects might be somewhat biased. However, it seems that my ability to portray these aspects is far from sufficient.
However, if you can't take care of other things at the same time, it will seem bland and boring.
I reflect on this.
And there were comments in the group that the content wasn't engaging enough.
I will seriously consider these issues when I come up with the ideas later. Writing this way is more tiring than many other writing styles, and it requires a much larger framework for conception. If the task of the first volume was to be the foreshadowing and to set the tone, and the task of the second volume was to gradually introduce the world view and new characters, then the story of the third volume should lean towards atmosphere and structure, as well as the development of writing techniques. Of course, the world view will also unfold simultaneously.
Actually, even now that I've written this book, I still don't know how far it will go.
My comfortable writing environment is coming to an end, and there are still many areas for improvement, which makes me a little anxious every day. Of course, this anxiety doesn't stem from the number of favorites, but rather from the quality of my work and the word count and plot.
Speaking of collecting, I only belatedly realized that the editor had already been very attentive to my work.
I remember when we were promoting it on the website, everyone else was a top earner with over 10,000 earnings, except for me. I'm sure they would just smile if they checked their data and found that I only had 500 earnings.
Of course, since beasts have no human rights, I naturally won't ask for anything. I just want to write my own stories in peace and live a carefree life. Peace and tranquility are my current wishes.
Please forgive my slow typing speed as a novice author. As someone who is extremely afraid of unstable updates, I have already exhausted my drafts when I wrote this, and I even hesitated to start the third volume for fear of poor quality.
My trepidation about the work also made me somewhat cautious.
A thousand words are transformed into a deep love for words.
1. If there are any further suggestions, please feel free to offer them.
For example, if a writer is a literary youth, and their opinions are not exciting enough, not interesting enough, lack any suspense, or have a straightforward plot, I will carefully consider all kinds of opinions.
Don't worry, I have my own judgment. It's just that it's easy to get carried away with my own writing, and I need readers to wake me up.

2. By the way, if you feel there are any gaps or unclear points in the previous posts, you can leave a message so I can fill in the gaps. If you need spoilers, then you can find out more here.
Thank you for listening to a chatterbox ramble on for almost a whole chapter. I'm a newbie, so I'd like to express my sincere gratitude.
Here's a brief preview of the story in Volume 3.
"The Dragon Horse" takes a different perspective, exploring the world from the viewpoint of newly born Others. Old Jin (Jin Yong) steps back from the spotlight and has a meager role, so readers should have this expectation before reading.
That's all, mwah!
