Unusual Fate Records

Chapter 85, Section 023: The Death of Shen 1

Chapter 85, Section 023: The Death of Shinichi

Inside the hotel's deluxe suite, the dimly lit, enclosed room had its doors and windows tightly shut.

The thick curtains let in no sunlight, and the dim yellow light from the nightlight was the only source of light in the room.

The murky air was filled with a cacophony of smells: the smoky yellow of smoke, the musty green of decay, the brown scent of men's cologne, the stench of spoiled tea and food, and the crimson odor of blood.

Despite the clamor and explosions outside, the people inside seemed completely isolated from the world, oblivious to everything.

"squeak--"

The door opened by itself.

The smells in the room, following the airflow, seemed to find an outlet and rushed out all at once.

The sound of high-top black boots clicking rang out.

Arrogantly walked to the bedside.

A man was nestled in the pristine white bed, his face buried in the pillow, a corner of his red robe peeking out from the collar.

She reached out and grabbed a corner of the blanket; it felt icy cold.

Open.

A knife was stuck in the man's back, the blade embedded in his body, the handle forming a small protrusion against the blanket.

Blood stained the blankets red. The man's back looked as if it had been pierced, or as if a cow had been dismembered along its spine, with each cut revealing the flesh on both sides of the spine, the dark blood already turned into a paste.

Arrogance frowned.

Turn the body over.

The deceased's face was contorted, his eyes bulged, and his jaw showed signs of dislocation due to his violent screams.

Arrogantly compared the information and confirmed his identity: Guan Shenyi, the leader of the Qingtian Gang.

There were no signs of a struggle at the scene, suggesting that the location of the murder had been moved.

The deceased did not resist, possibly because drugs rendered him incapable of fighting.

"Boss!" Gu Taro, who arrived shortly after, rushed into Seki Shinichi's room when he saw the door wide open.

Seeing that the arrogant man held a knife behind his back and flipped Guan Shenyi over with his other hand, the latter looked horrified and was clearly already dead.

"You killed our gang leader!"

The young man had a ferocious expression, like a dog, and his eyes gleamed with an eerie green light on his ashen face.

Arrogance is not the type to explain, nor is it necessary to explain.

The noise downstairs finally stopped because the Qingtian Gang had lost its firearms, and the two sides were temporarily at a stalemate.

"Arrogance!" Seeing that there was no sound from upstairs, not even a bump or knock, the dragon horse became frightened, worried that Arrogance had been ambushed.

Only when he pushed aside the Qingtian Gang members did he see what was happening inside.

The middle-aged man's distorted face, like a wrinkled old orange, was sunken into the bed, with only half of his face visible, revealing unseeing, lifeless eyes that stared straight at everyone.

A chill ran through the dragon-horse's heart.

"Is this what you call an investigation?! Even you, are you above the law, that you can kill people at will?!" Tani Taro cursed viciously.

You Donglongma had a headache, and after finally managing to mediate, things became tense again.

"I didn't kill him," Arrogantly explained.

You Donglongma nodded: "I believe you."

"If you didn't kill him, how could someone kill our gang leader without anyone noticing and then get away with it?!" Gu Taro became increasingly angry as he spoke. "Do you think our surveillance equipment and defense systems are blind?!"

"You have a defense system?"

An arrogant retort.

Tani Taro's face immediately turned a deep shade of liver: "Don't be so arrogant!"

Longma's face fell. He realized that the arrogance was simply asking a question, but asking it at this moment would clearly be a misunderstanding. He quickly added:

"Arrogance means that since there is a defense system that can check surveillance videos, we might be able to find clues about the criminals."

Arrogance looked in his direction.

"Hmph! If there were a problem, the monitoring room would have sounded the alarm long ago!" Gu Taro persisted. "Don't think that stalling for time will work. I'll immediately seek help from the city's law enforcement. Even you can't kill innocent people indiscriminately!"

"Is the enforcer from Ranshan Hall?" the arrogant man asked.

Tani Taro was speechless for a moment, then said, "What else? The law enforcement team still has credibility, doesn't it?"

“We also have the right to inquire about all White Walker deaths.” Arrogance held up the book of credentials in his hand.

Tani Taro said, "You're a suspect too, so what gives you the right to investigate the case?"

“Um…” said Longma, “I’ve also interviewed some murder scenes. The blood has dried and turned black, so the person must have been dead for some time. We only went upstairs for the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, which doesn’t match the time of death.”

Tani Taro fell silent; it was indeed so.

It's strange that Ryoma is acting strangely. The other party seems to be just being unreasonable. It's understandable that the leader died violently and he's harping on the people at the scene, but it feels like something is being overlooked.

He arrogantly asked, "When was the last time you saw the deceased?"

“Three days ago,” Gu Taro said, “the gang leader said he was going back to rest, and then he was never seen coming out again.”

"Three days?"

"Won't you suspect anything?" Ryoma asked.

“The gang leader didn’t instruct us not to interfere. He’s always been in a habit of being alone, and everyone’s been quite busy lately.”

“Three days ago was the day after the White Walker hunters attacked Burning Mountain Hall,” Arrogance said.

Gu Taro's expression changed: "Was it those bounty hunters who assassinated the gang leader?!"

"You provided the information to the Sanlihe Hunter Group, right? Could it be that they're angry and looking for an opportunity to retaliate?" Ryoma asked, his voice slightly stammering, his head tilted to one side, where he was wearing in-ear headphones.

Arrogance remained silent, raising his hand to stop the conversation, and sniffed the room.

Something was off from the very beginning.

Although the scent of men's cologne lingered faintly in the stale air, the room was filled with it.

The scent of perfume may not last more than three days.

She tilted her head, seemingly observing.

Looking at the arrogance, Tani Taro felt a little uneasy.

In the black and white world, there is no one. A dark, indistinct human figure stands against a white backdrop, constantly distorting, causing the figure in front to unconsciously retreat.

That's Tanitaro.

The other humanoid figure, almost pure white, is the dynamic dragon horse standing on the other side.

An arrogant perspective cannot see people.

When she turned around and looked at the bed, the thick black liquid had congealed into a paste, and it seemed to be slowly wriggling.

Arrogance acted decisively, shouting, "He's still alive!"

Gu Taro was shocked and immediately rushed forward, grabbing Aoman tightly with both arms and shouting, "Boss, run!"

Arrogance, caught off guard by the sudden discovery, made him overlook Taniguchi, who then struck him down.

At this moment, Guan Shenyi, who had just died suddenly rolled his eyes, and in his bathrobe, he sprang up with great energy, breaking through the thick curtains, leaving behind black bloodstains and a knife hilt on his back. With the sound of shattering glass, he disappeared into the whistling wind outside.

Arrogantly, he shoved his elbow into Tani Taro's chest, but the latter, ignoring the serious injury, groaned and tightened his grip even more.

Arrogantly flipped the short curved blade in his other hand, twisting his wrist to drive the blade. The opponent used his body to obstruct the blade's trajectory, half of his body was slashed, and the blade, after a moment of resistance, still followed the arc of the swing and cut off Tani Taro's arm.

"what!"

The man clutched his severed wrist, blood gushing from his mouth and nose, and gritted his teeth as he pressed down on the severed part of his wrist.

There was no longer any power to stop arrogance.

The woman climbed onto the windowsill in a few quick steps and chased after the man in the bright red nightgown.

Happy April Fool's Day! I won't lie anymore, I'm worried about safety during the Qingming Festival.
