Chapter 96, Section 034: The Origin of Sin

"Officer Fujiwara," Kodera greeted him indifferently.

The policewoman nodded in greeting, but being alone and surrounded by White Walkers, she still felt somewhat awkward.

She couldn't help but feel annoyed, thinking of that smirking woman, but the information she provided was crucial, forcing Fujiwara Chizuru to get involved.

Lips and teeth are interdependent; if the lips are gone, the teeth will be cold.

"Miss Ling asked me to convey some messages and to help you all get through this difficult time."

Upon hearing that it was a spirit, the three members of the Seven Deadly Sins all took it a little more seriously.

You Donglongma didn't know who Ling was, but judging from the expressions of his companions, he guessed that he must be a powerful commander.

"Greetings, I am Greed. These two are arrogant and jealous. May I ask what instructions Lord Ling may give?" Greed asked.

Fujiwara Chizuru said solemnly, "Miss Rei knows that you are all in trouble, so she asked me to tell you that she will deal with the mastermind behind this. You don't need to be distracted, so you must do your best to deal with the culprit."

"Given the current situation, the enemy knows us quite well, and we are probably not so easy to deal with."

Fujiwara nodded and said, "Please tell me about what happened. We've been paying close attention to you ever since the case of Miss Lust's murder. We've done some investigation into the killer, and perhaps we can add some details."

"You also know that Ayu was murdered?"

Chizuru Fujiwara nodded: "We received a report that night from the emergency hotline 112. It must have been due to signal jamming that we had to call from the emergency hotline. We pinpointed the approximate location that night, and when we arrived at the scene, all that was left was a large amount of burning sulfur. After tracing the route and discovering that it was you, our superiors ordered us to stop the investigation."

She adjusted her glasses: "Later news proved that the victim that night was probably a sex worker."

Ryoma couldn't help but take a second look at her; she was very good at following clues and had a wealth of criminal investigation experience.

"Excuse me, are you named Fujiwara Chizuru?" the arrogant man suddenly asked.

“Yes.” Fujiwara Chizuru looked at Arrogance with a puzzled expression and asked, “Is there something you need?”

Arrogance shook his head and returned to silence.

Greedy took over the conversation and began to explain the recent situation to Fujiwara Chizuru.

He died in a hotel in a fit of rage, breaking through the petrification formed by the black mist by self-destruction; when Jealousy transferred a puppet's power, he was ambushed, and the puppet's power came at the cost of destroying its own eyes, and Jealousy unfortunately went blind as a result; Sloth and Gluttony also had different situations.

Fujiwara Chizuru listened very carefully, and she frowned.

"The killer's methods seem to vary from person to person, yet they also seem to carry a strong sense of purpose."

Everyone pondered it carefully.

Koji was getting impatient. He didn't know the enemy's weakness, yet she was leading the conversation astray. In his opinion, the woman's appearance was somewhat superfluous.

She asked, "Mr. Greed, could you elaborate on the victimization of gluttony and sloth?"

Greed nodded and explained it again in detail.

Throughout the conversation, the policewoman listened quietly, scribbling in her notebook and nodding occasionally.

Finally, Fujiwara Chizuru put down her pen and let out a long sigh.

"So, any leads?" Greed asked uncertainly.

"Please allow me to make a bold guess." Fujiwara Chizuru showed everyone what she had scribbled down, which listed the ways in which she was attacked by lust, rage, gluttony, sloth, and envy.

Next came greed and arrogance, and surprisingly, there were also words in the notes section for them.

Xiaosi opened his eyes wide, firstly because he didn't believe the woman's ramblings, and secondly because her actions seemed to subdue the enemy without a fight.

“Officer Fujiwara, whose side are you on?!” he shouted.

After all, she is human, yet she pointed out the dangers that greed and arrogance might bring. In that sense, she seems like a spy sent by the other side.

Arrogance and greed, however, remained calm. The former said, "Please explain the reasons in detail."

Fujiwara Chizuru adjusted her glasses and said, "This is just a guess. By consulting other documents, it's not hard to determine the criminal's intentions from their behavior."

"What kind of literature are you referring to?"

Fujiwara Chizuru asked, "Do you all know the origin of the name 'Seven Deadly Sins'?"

She paused, then continued, "'The Seven Deadly Sins' originated from medieval doctrines and the creeds brought by philosophical priests, defining seven original sins that influence human sins. After many twists and turns, it eventually evolved into its current form."

"The code name is 'Seven Deadly Sins,' which is based on the doctrine. According to the content of the Seven Deadly Sins, the church once defined seven kinds of punishment."

A gleam shone beneath her glasses as she said solemnly, "Therefore, it is highly likely that the perpetrator committed the crime based on these punishments, achieving a high degree of realism and satisfying their own desire for self-expression."

"In other words, is it possible for us to guess the other party's modus operandi?"

Fujiwara Chizuru pondered for a moment and said, "To some extent, because medieval punishments were limited by imagination and had certain flaws. But now, the endless stream of abilities has masked this lack of imagination, making the other party's behavior more flexible and varied."

“I understand. Officer Fujiwara’s deduction serves as a warning, letting us know what the other side wants to achieve.” Greed stared at the word “prone” after his name in the notes and said slowly.

“That’s right. Based on your statements, I deduce that the prisoner is a formidable adversary with an extreme desire to perform and extreme psychological states. This type of adversary will go to great lengths to create an environment that suits his performance; conversely, he is also prone to becoming enraged if we disrupt his performance.”

“And this is the time for us to seize the opening and begin our counterattack,” Fujiwara Chizuru said.

“I still want to remind you that the other party is very familiar with us. Laziness tried to do the opposite, but still fell into their trap,” Greed said.

Fujiwara Chizuru frowned slightly and said, "Now, what are your thoughts—?"

"The original allies and reinforcements from other major societies were all attacked by the enemy after the meeting, and the previous plans could not be implemented."

"Understood." Fujiwara Chizuru nodded.

"Hey, officer, what's with your attitude? Are you just going to ignore it?" Kodera looked at Fujiwara Chizuru's calm demeanor and was somewhat indignant. "Please be aware that the other side may also be monitoring this place. They might use our meeting as an excuse to assassinate everyone else. Since you've joined us, you should be prepared to be on their radar."

“I understand that, and I don’t plan to leave here,” Fujiwara Chizuru said. “In fact, it’s probably the safest place in the whole city.”

"Tch, what a glib-tongued woman." Koji said no more.

"So, what does Miss Fujiwara mean?" Greedy looked at the other party's composed demeanor, as if she still had something to say.

"We are not without advantages in this battle, we just need everyone's cooperation."

Fujiwara said.
