Chapter 2880: Easily Take the Transfer Station

Chapter 2880: Easily Take the Transfer Station

After figuring out the distribution of the enemy sentries, Sokov said to Captain Olga: "Comrade Captain, we will pretend to be troops from the 7th Armored Division and enter the transfer station to see if we can successfully capture the transfer station. If our identities are exposed, immediately order the troops to launch an attack and make sure to end the battle in the shortest possible time. Do you understand?"

"I understand, Comrade Commander!" Olga replied loudly.

"Okay, everyone get in the car." After Sokov told everyone to get in, he walked towards the lead car.

Second Lieutenant Zhu Kewen, who was sitting in the cab of the lead vehicle, saw Sokov approaching and quickly opened the door and got out of the vehicle. He asked respectfully, "Comrade Major, do you have any instructions?"

Sokov said briefly: "Let's switch seats. I'll sit in the cab of the lead car, and you'll sit in the cab of my car."

Unexpectedly, Zhu Kewen did not carry out Sokov's order, but turned to another soldier sitting in the cab and said, "Get off and sit in the back where the brigade commander used to sit."

After the soldier got out of the car, he ran straight to the back without saying anything.

After Zhukov and other soldiers left, he explained to Sokov: "Comrade Major, you are wearing the uniform of a German major. If you are not accompanied by an adjutant but an ordinary soldier, it will definitely arouse the enemy's suspicion."

Sokov thought about Zhukov's words and felt that they made sense, so he nodded and agreed: "Okay, then you and I will sit in the cab of the first car."

After the vehicle restarted, Zhu Kewen asked cautiously, "Comrade Brigade Commander, how do you plan to seize the transfer station?"

"Comrade Lieutenant," Sokov looked at Zhukov and said, "First, we pretended to be troops from the Seventh Armored Division and said we were ordered to take over the defense of the transfer station."

"But what if the enemy doubts our identity and does not allow us to enter the transfer station?"

"Then we can only resort to violent attack," Sokov said with a serious expression, "but if we do so, our actions will be exposed. Even if we can end the battle in a very short time, it will probably alert nearby enemies. Then it will be unrealistic to take away the supplies in the transfer station."

Soon, the convoy arrived at the entrance of the transfer station.

There were five sentries on duty at the door. One of them came forward to the side of the cab, looked up at Sokov in the car, and asked expressionlessly: "What's your ID?"

Sokov took out the military ID that did not belong to him and handed it to the German soldier.

After the German soldier took the ID and checked it, he looked up at Sokov again and asked, "Major, what is your purpose here?"

"Corporal." After seeing the other party's rank, Sokov said, "We are ordered to take over the transfer station. Where is the commander of the station?"

When the German corporal heard what Sokov said, he was filled with doubts: "You are here to take over the transfer station, why didn't I receive any notice?"

"This is a temporary decision made by the headquarters. Otherwise, we wouldn't have rushed here overnight." Sokov raised his voice and said, "Corporal, why are you still dawdling? Take me to see the commander of the transfer station."

The German soldier was shocked by Sokov's attitude. He quickly said respectfully, "Major, please wait a moment. I will make a phone call first."

"Go ahead!" Sokov knew that if he stopped the other party from making the call, it would definitely arouse suspicion, so he pretended to be magnanimous and said, "Tell the commander of the transfer station that I will go in and meet him soon."

When the German corporal went into the nearby sentry box to make a phone call, Sokov whispered to Zhukov, "Second Lieutenant, order everyone to get off the car and take over the sentry at the door!"

Seeing Zhu Kewen nod to show that he understood, Sokov pushed open the door and got out of the car. He walked to the horizontal bar blocking the entrance with his hands behind his back, took out a silver cigarette case made in Hanau, Germany, and took out a cigarette from it. After closing the cigarette case, he tapped the cigarette on the box twice before slowly putting it in his mouth.

After hearing the order given by Zhukov, the soldiers brought by Sokov got out of the car and lined up beside the car.

The German corporal who was on the phone in the sentry box heard the noise outside and couldn't help turning his head to look outside. He was shocked to see that the officers and soldiers of the "Seventh Armored Division" had got off the car and lined up, and actually sent someone to the sentry post at the door. Now his four subordinates were surrounded by more than a dozen people.

"Major!" The German corporal quickly hung up the phone and ran out: "This is our sentry post. How can you let someone take over so easily?"

"Corporal, I think I have made it very clear to you just now." Sokov said to the German corporal with a stern face: "We are ordered to take over the defense of the transfer station. Isn't it normal to send someone to take over the sentry post? Okay, stop dawdling and take me to see the commander of the transfer station quickly."

The German corporal did not dare to neglect it and said to Sokov respectfully: "Major, please follow me. I will take you to see the commander of the transfer station."

When Sokov followed the German corporal into the transfer station, Zhukov made a gesture to Sergeant Zub, who nodded and then followed him in with several soldiers.

Arriving at a wooden house, the corporal knocked on the door and shouted, "Captain, a major from the 7th Armored Division wants to see you."

However, there was no movement inside. The corporal explained to Sokov in a panic: "The Captain may still be sleeping. Please wait a moment and I will call him again." After that, he knocked heavily on the door a few more times and repeated what he had just said.

Before there was any movement in the house, a second lieutenant came running from a distance. After he came to Sokov, he asked the German corporal who led Sokov: "Corporal, where is the commander you mentioned on the phone?"

"I'm here." Sokov stepped forward and said, "I'm from the 7th Armored Division, and I've been ordered to take over the defense of the transfer station. Who are you?"

After the lieutenant saw Sokov's rank clearly, he raised his hand to salute and said respectfully: "Major, I am the platoon leader of the transfer station garrison..."

Sokov interrupted him impatiently, "How come there is only one platoon of guards at such a large transfer station? Aren't you afraid of being attacked by Russian guerrillas?"

"Major, there are about a dozen transfer stations like this, and we simply cannot mobilize that many troops to defend them." The lieutenant quickly explained to Sokov, "Besides, the Russians were beaten back by us. The regular army was no match for us, not to mention the guerrillas who didn't even have a few guns." Seeing the German lieutenant underestimate the enemy, Sokov couldn't help but feel happy, which meant that his chances of successfully seizing the transfer station were greatly increased. He then asked, "What happened to the person in charge of the transfer station? Why hasn't he woken up yet?"

Hearing Sokov's question, the German lieutenant was a little amused. This was the time when people were most sleepy, and it was freezing cold. If he didn't hide in the house to sleep, would he stand outside in the cold wind?

Fortunately, the light in the room was on at this moment, and then a voice came out: "Who is it? Who is outside?"

Hearing the voice in the room, the German corporal hurriedly took two steps forward and said with a smile: "Captain, the troops who are here to take over the defense of the transfer station have arrived."

The door opened and a bald captain appeared at the door.

He looked at the second lieutenant standing at the door and asked unhappily, "Second lieutenant, what unit is taking over the transfer station? Why didn't I receive any notification?"

"Captain." Seeing that the German lieutenant was speechless after being asked by the bald man, Sokov stepped forward and said, "I am a major of the 7th Armored Division. Two hours ago, I received an order from my superiors to take over the security of the transfer station. Now, you must immediately gather your people and formally hand over the defense to us."

The bald captain looked Sokov over and asked sternly, "Major, where is your ID?"

The German corporal standing by the door quickly handed the military ID that had not yet been returned to Sokov to the bald captain: "Captain, here is the major's ID."

In order to help the bald captain see more clearly, he turned on the flashlight to illuminate the other party.

After reading Sokov's fake ID, the bald captain frowned and said, "Excuse me, Major. I haven't received any orders from my superiors, so I can't let you take over the defense of the transfer station for the time being. I think it's better to wait until dawn, when I can contact my superiors and get confirmation, and then it won't be too late to let you take over the defense."

"No, absolutely not." As soon as the bald captain finished speaking, Sokov said with a stern face: "The temperature outside is already below zero. If you let my men freeze outside for a few hours and they get sick, who will be held responsible?"

By chance, Sokov saw Zhukov and the remaining soldiers of the guard platoon walking towards this side, so he raised his voice and said to him: "Second Lieutenant, you will immediately take over the defense of the transfer station. If you encounter anyone who refuses to follow orders, they will be dealt with by military law."

His order was issued in German, so Zhu Kewen could understand it. He quickly agreed and led his men towards the tents in the distance. He had just taken over the sentry post at the door and learned from the German soldiers where the tents of the garrison were located.

After walking a few steps, Zhu Kewen was worried that he had too few people, so he called a soldier over and whispered a few instructions. When the soldier nodded and ran towards the door, he led his men to the tent where the garrison platoon was located.

A few minutes later, hundreds of officers and soldiers crowded in from the entrance. These people were the ones Olga received a notice from Zhu Kewen and came to assist the guard platoon in controlling the transfer station.

The bald captain was surprised to see so many people pouring in from the transfer station. He said to Sokov in dissatisfaction: "Mr. Major, before I contact my superiors to confirm whether I should hand over the defense to you, please order your men to withdraw, otherwise you will be responsible for all the consequences."

Hearing the bald captain's dissatisfaction, Sokov just sneered and said, "Captain, what consequences do you intend to make me bear?"

The bald captain had not yet discovered that Sokov and his men were imposters, and he was still saying confidently, "Major, although your rank is higher than mine, believe it or not, I can make you lose your major's epaulettes with just one word from you."

Sokov was amused when he heard this, thinking that this bald captain of the transfer station was actually someone of great importance, and that he could actually take off the shoulder straps of a major with just one sentence. Unfortunately, he never dreamed that the German officer standing in front of him was actually a Soviet soldier in disguise. However, before Olga and Zhukov's men took control of the entire transfer station, he still wanted to tease them.

"Really, Mr. Captain?" Sokov pretended to be surprised. "You said one word and I lost my major's epaulettes. I wonder what kind of backing you have to be able to say such a big thing?"

"My uncle is the deputy chief of staff of the 2nd Armored Group Command." The bald captain raised his neck and said in a defiant tone: "As long as I say hello to him, your superiors will immediately dismiss you. This is the result of offending me."

"Captain, I don't think I have offended you," Sokov said humbly, "I just ordered my troops to take over the defense of the transfer station. This is just my official duty. It shouldn't be considered as offending you, right?"

"Before getting my permission, your people need to leave the transfer station immediately." Sokov's reaction confused the bald captain. He really thought that his background scared Sokov so much that he spoke to him in a humble tone. He said arrogantly: "No one of your people is allowed to enter the transfer station without my permission."

"Captain, the temperature is below zero now, and my men lack winter clothes. If I let them freeze outside for a few hours, what if they get sick?"

"That's your business, not mine." The bald captain threw Sokov's fake ID to the ground and said impatiently, "Major, take your people and get out of the transfer station quickly, or I will be rude to you."

As Sokov was chatting with the bald captain, he suddenly heard a noisy sound behind him and turned his head to look. He saw Zhu Kewen and his soldiers escorting a group of ragged German soldiers towards him.

Upon seeing this, the German lieutenant rushed to Sokov and said, "Major, we haven't officially handed over the defense yet. Your people have arrested all my men. This is inappropriate."

Sokov ignored him and asked Zhu Kewen who was walking over: "Second Lieutenant, have you taken over the defense of the transfer station?"

"Of course, of course we took over everything." Zhu Kewen nodded and said, "Not only were all the people sleeping in the tents captured, but even the sentries at the transfer stations were all disarmed."

"Are you sure there are no leaks?"

"Don't worry." Zhu Kewen said carelessly: "With the help of the scouts, we have controlled every sentry on duty, and not a single one has escaped."

The German second lieutenant heard the conversation between Sokov and Zhukov and asked in surprise: "What scouts? Major, what are you talking about? I don't understand."

After confirming that the entire transfer station had been controlled by his subordinates, Sokov showed a relaxed expression on his face. He then turned to face the German second lieutenant and the bald captain and said with a smile: "Mr. Officers, let me introduce myself. I am Major Sokov, the commander of the Soviet 16th Army Infantry Brigade. Now you have become my prisoners."

Hearing what Sokov said, the bald captain, the German second lieutenant and the corporal leading the way were stunned at first and then prepared to resist. But Sergeant Zub, who was standing next to them, immediately rushed forward with several soldiers and firmly controlled the three of them.
