Arad's unruly savior
Chapter 4019 Vishi and Rem
Captain Azera Loy traveled alone across distant star systems to rush to the original site of Ancient Terra, and now felt a very complicated emotion.
Even knowing that it wasn't the past that should exist in their memories, but rather a "past" manifested in the present by a mysterious force, they still wanted to go to Terra to take a look. The Rising Dragon Goddess Ori and the Demon Bullet Lena, who were traveling with them, were still in the God Realm due to limitations in their realms.
The desolate planet Terra is devoid of humans, beasts, and birds... Even the coffins deep within the tombs are empty. The light and crystallization of civilization remain, but there is no sign of life. The power of destiny of Hiat cannot be traced in any way, as if all connections have been severed.
"Commander, we'll go with you," Ye Lin said. He had the same idea, to make contact with Ancient Terra, which had been restored from the shadows of history.
Azera nodded, choosing not to land in the main city of Terra, which is now one of the eight directions of the Demon Realm and the only place that has not yet returned, creating a sense of emptiness and separation. So she chose a nearby, familiar city instead.
When her feet touched the ground, feeling the solid ground beneath her feet and the support from the earth, Azera was momentarily dazed. She stood there for about half a minute before she came to her senses.
As night fell, a late rain began to fall in Terra. Large, icy raindrops pounded against the windows, while the tall buildings shone with dazzling neon lights. As the two intertwined, the raindrops that fell on the glass slid down quickly, reflecting the lights and blurring the light, thus imbuing this dead city with an indescribable sense of loneliness and indifference.
The lights in the buildings were still on, as if the city was still bustling, but there wasn't a single living thing to be seen on the street, as if everyone had vanished into thin air in an instant. This made the sound of the raindrops falling seem exceptionally clear, as if each drop was ringing in one's ear.
Azera pushed open the door and walked into a roadside cafe. The interior was cozy and warmly lit, but there were no customers or the owner. On the tables for customers, there were several cups of coffee that had gone cold, as if someone had been there half an hour ago.
She hesitated for a moment, then walked to the counter and the kitchen. After inspecting them, she shook her head and came out, saying:
"There aren't even any living plant seeds; the coffee beans we have are all dead, roasted beans."
Azera then ceased her obsession with finding life, exhaled a long breath, her emotions calming somewhat, smiled slightly, and began to introduce the situation as a tour guide:
“I’ve been to this city about six or seven times. It’s also Dr. Munnis’s hometown. To be honest, so much time has passed since I left Terra that my memories of it had become hazy. But now that I’m back, it’s like an instinct has suddenly awakened my memories. I know the outline of this city, I know which street I’ve been to…”
Dr. Munnis is also a survivor of the original Terra. Azera's Genesis ship took away a group of her followers.
After escaping Terra, the spaceship had no destination, was lonely and terrified, and drifted in the universe for countless hours, passing by one planet after another and sailing through one starry sky after another, like a small boat on a vast ocean. Finally, two thousand years ago, it approached the continent of Arad, and now it is two thousand years later.
The numbers of time have lost their meaning; it has been far too long since we left Terra, day after day, year after year…!
Those long and tedious times are enough to wear down the will and hope of most people.
Even with powerful life-sustaining devices, diluted life-giving water, and technological advancements to prevent aging and achieve a pseudo-immortality, many people still succumb to the loneliness of time. Some, exhausted, choose to shut down their life-sustaining devices and age naturally, while others choose to stay on habitable planets and begin a new life.
Of the Terrans left behind on the last Genesis spaceship, very few have survived the ravages of time.
Not long ago, Dr. Munnis also witnessed the gradual restoration of his homeland Terra through the perspective provided by Night Forest. A strange bud stirred in his decaying and silent heart, but due to his limited strength, he was unable to cross the starry sky and return to Terra.
"The atmosphere of the apocalypse is strong, and everything is free to buy." Mo Mei joked, casually picking up a box of packaged coffee beans from the display case. She glanced at the packaging, shook it, and a large number of slightly muffled sounds came from inside.
If you want it, it seems you can just take it with you.
Kanina's café also offers the service of selling coffee beans directly. If customers think a certain coffee tastes good and want to take some home, they can buy packaged coffee beans.
The four of them walked through shops and streets, the emptiness of which made them feel uneasy. They also went to the top of a skyscraper once, overlooking the city's dazzling yet desolate night, beautiful yet cold and lonely, with an eerie sense of desertedness hidden beneath the surface of prosperity.
Ye Lin also tried a bite of food from a certain shop; it was very fresh and tasted good.
“And I’ve noticed a problem, have you noticed? There’s no accurate time here.” Hiat stared at a huge display screen, which showed a static image, and the area where the time should have been displayed was blurry.
Those old-fashioned clocks with hour, minute, and second hands are not moving, as if they are broken. All electronic devices that can display the time have a blurry time display area. Even old-fashioned paper calendars that some people use, which should be torn off one page a day, are now so new that they have not been opened, and it is impossible to tell what year, month, and day it is.
Just as everything on Terra seems to have been restored, there are still some subtle flaws that reveal a difference in time scale between it and ancient Terra, showing that they are different.
This allows ancient Terrans like Azeroth to distinguish between the past and the present.
The rain stopped temporarily after nightfall, but the sky remained gloomy and the night was deep. The deserted buildings resembled cold, monstrous beasts, or cages imprisoning souls.
The four of them stopped in front of a shop with sun umbrellas on the street. There were clean tables and chairs outside, and no rain had fallen on them, so they sat down to rest.
"The Terrans are ambitious, their eyes set on the mythical age, on forbidden realms..." Azera whispered a story from the past with a complex mix of emotions.
Some Terrans stumbled upon some information about the "Mother Codex" from the ruins of the previous civilization. Shocked by the power of this item, they attempted to find and replicate the Mother Codex.
The Mother Codex is a "sacred object" that can create newborns using genetic material, bypassing the traditional method of male-female union. It can also screen, optimize, and alter the bloodline of Terrans.
Those with strong bloodlines will naturally emit a golden light from their bodies.
In short, by making a series of settings in advance through the Mother Code, it can be guaranteed that the child will have a certain talent from birth.
This has led to a significant decline in interpersonal relationships, with blood ties becoming the dominant social norm.
Later, the influence of the Mother Codex caused the collapse of social order, which was destroyed by the elemental goddess Pushia's secondary account, bringing the mythological era to an end.
Very little material from the original texts remained in the ruins, making them impossible to replicate. However, the excavation of these historical sites has allowed the Terrans of the technological age to make groundbreaking progress in the field of "androids."
Azera spoke of the past with a mixture of nostalgia and disgust. Her feelings for Terra had always been complicated. Night Forest, Hiat, and Mo Mei listened attentively, occasionally offering a few words of agreement.
They knew that this was Azera's homeland no matter what, only that no one was there anymore.
When measured on a cosmic scale, people on the same planet would all share the same homeland, and should have a population of billions, but now there isn't even a trace of life.
Azera gazed towards the main city of Terra, pondering what would happen if the Demon Realm were to expand outwards and return to its original location. Wouldn't a Demon Realm rooted in the magical age be incompatible with technologically advanced Terra? Would everything in the Demon Realm then revert to its current timeline? Would the artificial god base, the Beyana Research Institute, and so on return? What time scale does Terra currently occupy?
If that were to happen, what kind of situation would the races living in the Demon Realm with a primal aura, such as the Goruda, the Greenbrad Giants, the Grimlins, the Stonebone Beasts, etc., be in?
Snap, snap~
The rain, which had stopped for about fifteen minutes, started falling again, pattering against the parasols overhead with a continuous, crisp sound.
Azera lowered her head, sighed softly, her beautiful face showing a complex mix of emotions. She suddenly became lost in thought, her gaze unfocused, her mind entirely focused on the area of memory, where scenes from the past flooded back.
……
"Vichy, don't you think you've eaten a bit too much? You've already devoured two large hamburgers, fried chicken, and a drink."
"Not much, huh? I'm still growing, so it's normal for me to eat more. But you, Rem, are you sure one hamburger is enough?"
"I'm full, just right, about 70% full. I could eat a little more, but I wouldn't be hungry if I didn't eat. And I have to be careful with my allowance, because there are other things I want to buy."
"It's raining again, let's take shelter for a while, Rem."
"Ah."
…………
Azera snapped out of her reverie, rubbing her eyes and forehead, and quickly apologized, "I was lost in thought. My emotions must have been too intense. I think I heard something else."
However, she did not hear Ye Lin, Xi Ya Te, or Mo Mei respond.
A moment later, a girl with blonde hair tied in a single ponytail approached. Food crumbs clung to her lips, she held half a hamburger in her hand, her eyes were reddish-pink, and two tufts of hair stuck up on her head. She exuded a lively and spirited air and asked:
"Sister, are you alright? You seem to have fallen asleep by the roadside."
Azera was startled and looked up in disbelief at the girl who was leaning closer to her. She seemed both familiar and somewhat strange.
boom!
In an instant, a cacophony of sounds flooded Azera's ears: people talking, vehicles passing by, and countless other noises. It was as if a frozen video had been turned on, and the deathly silent city had suddenly come alive. The bustling, vibrant atmosphere was overwhelming, as if Azera had entered another world.
Azera quickly stood up, her brows furrowed. The city, which had been deserted and lonely as if it had died, was suddenly filled with a large number of pedestrians and living things. There were many green plants on the streets, some people hurried by with umbrellas, and others were walking their pet dogs to avoid the rain.
Vichy took a big bite of her chicken leg burger, her mouth filled with the bliss of food. But the woman in front of her was acting strangely. She was asleep by the roadside with her head down. When she woke up, she looked bewildered and nervous. Could she be hallucinating from being too tired at work?
In these big cities, the pace of life is fast and the pressure is high, especially in more developed cities.
In the main city of Terra, only elites can find a place.
Rem, standing next to Vishi, is a girl with short blue hair, beautiful red eyes, wearing a loose white coat and pleated skirt, and carrying a bottle of mineral water.
"Sister, may we sit here?" Rem asked politely.
The rain came suddenly, and many people were seeking shelter. They hadn't brought umbrellas, and there were only three empty seats at the table where Azera was sitting.
"Please...please, have a seat." Azera took a deep breath, quickly composed herself, and tried to calm down and process the situation.
Moved by the scene, she fell into memories. It happened to be raining, so she, Ye Lin, Xia Te, and Mo Mei set up a large parasol by the roadside to temporarily take shelter from the rain. During this time, she increasingly recalled the past, which caused her to be briefly absent-minded. When she woke up, the surroundings were already bustling with people.
The current situation is similar to building a sandbox game by first creating the framework of the physical world and then filling it with a large number of "NPCs" to make the sandbox game's content richer.
"Night Forest, are you there?" Azera called out to him in her heart.
For spiritual communication to work, a clear coordinate is needed. She had already checked and found that her connection with Ye Lin had been severed. So she called his name in her heart, hoping that he could hear her given his level of cultivation.
"I'm here, don't worry." Ye Lin's voice rang out, and Azera immediately felt much more at ease, finding a calm sense of security.
Ye Lin's voice sounded very distant, somewhat ethereal, as if it belonged to another world.
"What's going on? What happened? A lot of people suddenly appeared around me, and two of them are people I know..."
Azera glanced at Vishi and Rem sitting at the same table as her, then looked away to hide her confusion and shock. The two girls looked to be about fifteen or sixteen years old and were very close. They were talking about when the rain would stop and how they would get scolded if they went home late.
She knew these two girls!
In the ancient Terran technological era, after creating twelve artificial gods, humanity was captivated by its own talent and yearned to possess the same immense power and golden radiance emanating from their surging life force. Thus, it initiated an experimental project using humans as test subjects to evolve into Beyana.
Vishi and Rem were the experimental members of the Beyana Experiment Project.
A few seconds later, Night Forest, standing in the Terran sky and gazing at the light and shadow of history, said:
"Just as we predicted, after the ancient planet Terra was restored, everyone returned... and then, seemingly because you were originally Terrans, you were mistaken for one of them by that force during the process."
