Yun Qishen

Chapter 2325 The Wheel of Cause and Effect

Chapter 2325 Cause and Effect Reincarnation
The Upper Realm, the former residence of the Heavenly Scythe.

The fragrance of magnolia blossoms still lingered in the room, carried by wisps of white smoke.

Night Moon Ghost Book withdrew from their conversation and left the house early. Only the bell at his waist swayed gently as he left, leaving a fading echo. If he had been present, Mo Li, Mo Ruo, and Yun Qishen would have been on high alert. He knew this perfectly well and didn't want to linger. His departure wouldn't lessen their vigilance, but it was certainly much less tense than when he was present.

After the aura of the Night Moon Ghost Book had dissipated, Yun Qishen gently placed the jade dew in his hand on the table.

“This is what the Night Moon Ghost Book told me,” he said, his hand tracing the rim of the Jade Dew teacup. “The spell Mo Langqin used is neither within the scope of ghost magic nor immortal magic—it is a space-travel spell constructed with the power of prophecy.”

"This spell also has a very Buddhist name: Karma and Reincarnation."

Mo Ruo was holding the jade dew to her lips when she heard this, she paused, and her eyes immediately lit up.

"I've heard that term before! Those people from other worlds have said it before, something like 'Buddhist-style,' 'farming,' 'slacking off,' and all sorts of other things..." Mo Ru blinked and looked at Yun Qishen, asking, "So, what does this 'Buddhist-style' thing mean?"

"Being Buddhist-like is..."

Yun Qishen opened his mouth, but suddenly felt that explaining the word from the beginning was a bit too much trouble.

“It is Buddha,” Mo Li replied calmly.

"What is Buddha?" Mo Ruo frowned even more, his fierce face filled with confusion.

Mo Li glanced at him. "You don't need to understand."

"Oh."

Mo Ruo responded and obediently shut his mouth. But not long after, he couldn't help but mutter to himself, "Brother Mo Li, you always treat me like this. I also want to learn more knowledge, otherwise I'll always end up being simple-minded and all brawn and no brains!"

Mo Li didn't respond to Mo Ruo's words, but simply raised her hand to signal Mo Ruo to shut up, then turned to Yun Qishen and brought the topic back: "We've gone off on a tangent. Demon Lord, please continue."

Yun Qishen nodded, tapping his fingers unconsciously twice on the table. He continued, "I don't need to explain the so-called cause and effect, do I?"

He raised his eyes, his gaze sweeping over Mo Ruo before finally settling on Mo Li's calm, watery eyes. "This cycle of reincarnation is, to some extent, different from the nature of reincarnation as we commonly understand it."

"The cycle of reincarnation as we understand it can be explained as a kind of time travel. The reincarnation of the soul goes from small to large and then back to small, and so on, continuing in a cycle. But the reincarnation of this spell is a reincarnation mediated by memory - it consumes memories and travels through the flow of memories, without changing the weight of the soul."

"In other words—you are always who you are now, and I am always who I am now. The time and identity of the soul have not changed."

Mo Ru blinked, opened his mouth, glanced at Mo Li, and then closed it again. His brows were furrowed; he really couldn't understand what Yun Qishen was saying.

“But the memories have changed,” Mo Li said, “or perhaps… the memories are still in a cycle of reincarnation?”

“That’s right.” Yun Qishen nodded, his eyes showing even more approval for Mo Li.

Mo Ruo was silent for a moment before finally asking, "Um... I still don't quite understand. Brother Mo Li, if you understand, could you explain it simply? What is the weight of the soul? What is travel?" Mo Li placed the jade dew cup back on the table, the bottom of the cup lightly touching the table with a soft sound.

He spoke calmly, "What the Demon Lord means is that Lang Qin's soul hasn't changed. We initially thought his body was possessed by an external soul. But the current conclusion is that he wasn't possessed by an external soul. Whether it was the Lang Qin of the past or the Lang Qin of the present—Lang Qin is always Lang Qin. His soul hasn't changed."

He looked into Mo Ruo's eyes and said, word by word, "The only thing that has changed is Lang Qin's memory."

Mo Ruo's brows gradually relaxed, and his eyes slowly widened; he seemed to understand.

"Of course, this conclusion can only explain what happened to the Mo Langqin you found back then—the one who lost a part of his soul." Yun Qishen added from the side, "He used some memories within his range as a consumption to send out the power in these finger bones. These deformed clones that we killed may have been born under such circumstances."

“Lang Qin’s body also transmigrated at some point in time,” Mo Li continued, his tone still calm. “His memories and his body have been completely disrupted and reassembled. That’s why he can’t remember anything now, and why he’s so erratic and unlike anyone else in this world.”

Mo Ruo lowered her eyes, staring at the jade dew in the cup on the table. "Hmm... According to what you guys mean, Mo Li, that means... the Mo Lao Qi that the Ghost Beast Banquet wants to see is still Mo Lao Qi, right? He hasn't changed his soul body, he's just forgotten some memories, right? Then..."

Mo Ruo's voice caught in his throat; he opened his mouth but ultimately didn't ask.

"So, what exactly is the power contained within these finger bones?" Yun Qishen changed the subject, pushing the hand bone fragments that he had been keeping to the side onto the center of the table.

Mo Li's gaze fell on those hand bones, and he already knew perfectly well, "It's obvious."

Yun Qishen nodded slightly.

"But we still have to collect them all..."

"Yes."

The conversation between the two completely excluded Mo Ruo.

Mo Ruo looked at Yun Qishen and then at Mo Li, and suddenly felt that there was a consensus between the two of them that did not need to be spoken.

A thin cloud drifted in from outside the window, obscuring the ever-shining sunlight from the heavens. The light inside the room dimmed slightly, but the fragrance of magnolia blossoms remained, neither too strong nor too faint.

Yun Qishen picked up the jade dew cup and took a small sip. He put down the cup, a very faint smile curving his lips: "What a grand scheme this is. After going around in such a big circle, we've finally come back to the starting point."

Yun Qishen subconsciously touched Mo Langqin's storage ring on his hand and couldn't help but sigh, "I really admire Mo Langqin. In the face of an uncertain future, he even included all of us in this game."

At the same time, Mo Langqin, who was still glaring angrily at the Ghost Beast Banquet, couldn't help but sneeze.

Who is it? Who has nothing better to do than think about me?

He had just recovered when he sneezed again, "Achoo! Damn it! First I think, then I curse, then I nag. Is someone talking about me behind my back?!"
