Soul Patch
Chapter 6 Violent Patch
Chapter 6 Violent Patch
Twenty minutes later, the police arrived.
The police officer leading the team was surnamed Cao. He had a square face, dark skin, and looked shrewd and capable.
A short policeman wearing glasses followed behind him.
Wenjie ushered the two officers inside. Officer Cao then said to the officer behind him, "Xiao Xu, go check it out and take some photos."
A moment later, Officer Xu, holding a piece of metal, asked, "What is this?"
Wenjie reached out to take it and look at it, but Officer Xu stopped him.
He glanced at the gloves Officer Xu was wearing. He understood; they were afraid of damaging his fingerprints.
He had never seen this before, so he shook his head: "I don't know."
"And what about this mark on the window?"
After Officer Xu finished speaking, he led them to the balcony and pointed to a spot on the window where the paint was peeling off.
“This…” Wenjie leaned closer to take a closer look, then shook his head: “I don’t know…”
Officer Cao carefully examined the areas where the paint had chipped off the window frame, then looked at the metal piece in his hand.
He told Officer Xu, "It was here, the metal piece hit the window frame at this spot."
It seems the flying object hit the window frame, and the metal piece broke off upon impact.
Officer Cao pondered for a moment, then turned to look at Wenjie: "Think carefully, has anything unusual happened in the past two days?"
abnormal?
There have been too many unusual things happening to me these past two days, but I need to keep it strictly confidential and can't tell the police.
Wenjie took a breath and squeezed out two words with difficulty: "...No!"
The two officers exchanged a glance and prepared to leave.
Wenjie followed the police officer toward the door, his gaze sweeping over the gauze curtains fluttering in the wind, and for a fleeting moment, something occurred to him:
"Oh, Officer Cao..."
Officer Cao stopped and turned to look at him with a puzzled expression.
“Last night I thought I heard some noise at the bedroom door. I thought I had forgotten to close the window and it was just the wind making noise as the curtains were being blown up… so I didn’t pay any attention to it.”
The two police officers exchanged a glance, and Officer Cao hesitated before asking, "Could it be a drone?"
Drone?
But who would have let the drone in last night?
After the police left, Wenjie turned his attention to the computer.
That laptop was bought during my freshman year of college through a part-time job. It had low specs, kept freezing, and was basically obsolete.
Who would bother to sneak into a room to steal a broken laptop that nobody wants even when selling it as a second-hand computer?
I couldn't figure it out no matter how much I thought about it, and the more I focused on thinking, the hungrier I became.
He got up and went to the kitchen to cook a packet of instant noodles. He watched the noodles tumbling in the broth, then poached an egg, threw in a few slices of ham, and cooked it for another minute after bringing it to a boil.
Once the noodles have absorbed all the broth and become translucent, turn off the heat and plate them.
Cooking noodles is a basic skill for single people. It takes fifteen minutes to cook noodles, and five minutes to slurp them down.
After finishing his noodles, he stared at the plate in silence for a while, then glanced at the quartz clock on the wall; it was exactly nine o'clock.
There are three hours left until the system restarts.
After eating, I didn't feel like moving around much, and since I hadn't slept well last night, I fell asleep shortly after lying in bed.
To say that you can come up with a solution while lying down is just fooling people.
Such a soft bed, wouldn't it be nice to sleep on?
……
At midnight, the alarm clock suddenly went off.
The bedroom was pitch black, and against the dark background, the system restart screen stood out quite prominently.
The green progress bar is alarmingly leaping towards 100%...
Wenjie jumped out of bed, ran to the bathroom, and splashed cold water on his face.
As the cool tap water splashed on my face, the sticky feeling of sleep vanished without a trace.
He was fully awake!
Sitting upright on the living room sofa, after starting the system test, I focused intently on waiting for the patch type.
With a flash of light, the anticipated text appeared.
[Please select patch type: A. Dissuasion type B. Intimidation type C. Violence type D. Collapse type]
【C - Violent Type】
Without any hesitation.
——Enter the system——
In a flash, Wenjie reappeared downstairs in the office building.
He left his workplace, quickly ran to a nearby supermarket, and bought a dumbbell for exercise, choosing the upper limit weight for men's workouts: 20 pounds.
When it was time to pay, the cashier struggled to move the dumbbell from one side of the counter to the other after scanning the barcode, and looked Wenjie up and down with a bit of annoyance.
Wenjie didn't have time to pay attention. He paid the money and tried to carry it away with one hand.
Unexpectedly, when he lifted it up, his arm slumped down instantly. He persevered and walked a few steps, holding the dumbbells with both hands, towards the subway.
Having learned from the previous two experiences, this time taking the subway and then a taxi was the most time-efficient method.
Sure enough, they arrived at the crime scene even earlier than last time.
He looked at his watch and counted down: 10, 9, 8, ... 1
Just as I finished counting, there was a commotion outside.
He stood at the doorway, raised the dumbbells, held his breath, and carefully listened to the sound of footsteps in the rain.
The door creaked open, and the murderer, carrying a sack on his right shoulder, entered.
Wenjie stood at the doorway on the left, swung the dumbbell in a wide arc, and smashed it towards the murderer's left shoulder.
The killer was half a head shorter than him and appeared to be physically strong.
He seized the opportunity and, when the opponent was completely unprepared, delivered a heavy blow.
"what"
With a scream, the murderer fell to the ground.
He clutched his left shoulder, howling in pain, and struggled to roll over on the ground, staring intently at the mysterious man who had attacked him.
Wenjie reached out and grabbed the sack, glanced at the murderer lying on the ground, and looked at him with disdain... What are you looking at!
He slowly squatted down, gently laid the sack he was holding flat, and untied the rope at the top of the sack.
A girl with disheveled hair peeked out, revealing half of her head.
It's Yang Shanshan.
His expression hardened, and he quickly pulled Yang Shanshan out of the sack.
The woman before me, blindfolded, gagged, dressed in rags, with multiple scratches on her face and body, was completely different from the youthful and beautiful woman who used to sway in high heels.
At that moment, the fragile and helpless girl trembled in his arms, which moved him for a moment.
