Chapter 41 A Heartless Woman

Qi Yunran raised an eyebrow. Every time, it was her who wanted to ride, but Uncle Liu would chase her away as soon as he saw her.
Seeing Qi Yunran's questioning gaze, Uncle Liu took a puff of his pipe and said apologetically, "Yunran, I was embarrassed before. They said if I gave you a ride, they wouldn't ride in my oxcart anymore. You know, Uncle Liu makes a living this way. My children aren't married yet, and I'm saving up for their weddings!"

Qi Yunran wasn't angry; everyone has their own difficulties!
It's not surprising that she had that kind of reputation before!
"It's nothing!" She didn't want to say more, after all, she had no right to forgive anyone on behalf of the original owner of the body.

Uncle Liu didn't mind that she wasn't very willing to talk to him.

Just pay as soon as you get on the bus. Those three brats made him miss out on today's market business, and he didn't even earn half of what he did the day before!
Their town holds a market on odd-numbered days, so they go to the market every other day.

Normally, people are reluctant to ride in oxcarts; they only ride them when it's hot.

Business was already slow, and it wasn't even a holiday. Today, business was further disrupted by three girls from the village, and Uncle Liu arrived quite late.

That's why he thought he'd wait a bit longer, hoping for some business, but unexpectedly Qi Yunran and the others arrived.

Seeing that they hadn't taken a carriage, he beckoned them over.

I can't believe they actually came!
The oxcart swayed back home, and Uncle Liu asked inquiringly, "Brother, did you rent that carriage today?"

Pei Yuanjun frowned, recalling his conversation with Ranran earlier. "Hmm! Borrowed."

"Where are you going by carriage?"

"Yes, I have some business to attend to in the county!"

"Oh!" Seeing that the two didn't seem too keen to talk about it, Uncle Liu stopped asking.

They arrived home quickly, and Qi Yunran immediately prepared to part ways with Pei Yuanjun.

Pei Yuanjun's eyes flashed with helplessness as he took out a land deed and handed it to Qi Yunran: "Take it!"

Qi Yunran was surprised to find that it was the land deed for a haunted house.

He looked up suddenly: "You... gave this to me?"

Seeing that she finally didn't seem to reject him, Pei Yuanjun said in a gentle tone, "Didn't you want to renovate the haunted house?"

When did you apply for it?

"That's when you're fully focused on watching them process Xiao Jingxuan's household registration."

"I've also bought the dozen or so acres of fertile land surrounding the haunted house, and a piece of mountain land behind the mountain, all in your name!"

"How much silver will this cost? I'll give it to you." Pei Yuanjun tightly tucked the pear blossom hairpin she was about to give away into her sleeve. "Didn't you want to farm leisurely? Have a home here? I'll buy it all for you."

"And don't worry about Xiao Jingxuan's schooling either. The teacher I sent him to is my former teacher. He is very knowledgeable and likes bright children, so you don't need to worry."

Without waiting for Qi Yunran's reaction, he turned and walked down the mountain.

Qi Yunran watched his graceful figure disappear into the distance and said to Xiao Jingxuan, "Why do I feel like he's angry? Why?"

Xiao Jingxuan shrugged, indicating that he didn't know either.

Back in the house, Qi Yunran couldn't shake the image of that elegant yet lonely figure from her mind.

She rubbed her hair in frustration.

Putting aside my unease, I chopped the meat filling and started kneading the dough to make dumplings.

She wondered if she should treat the person who did her a favor to a meal.
It seems a bit impolite to just kick them out like that.

If he becomes her brother-in-law in the future, wouldn't they still be family?

The relationship can't be too strained, especially since he's the prime minister and won't be staying here for long.

Otherwise, after he takes Xiao Jingxuan to see the teacher tomorrow, she'll treat him to a big meal in town.
After figuring it out, I immediately felt better.

The dough was quickly kneaded and then rolled out into a sheet.

Before long, the plump, white dumplings were wrapped.

Xiao Jingxuan helped start the fire.

Before long, we were enjoying delicious dumplings.

Pei Yuanjun watched from outside as the two ate heartlessly, sweating profusely, a flash of anger crossing his eyes. He was nothing like the refined and courteous man he was during the day.

This heartless woman.
