Chapter 3530 A Clever Mind
"I didn't expect your Chinese to be so good."
Wang Taika said with a smile, "As a Korean, this level is acceptable."
Although he knew that Yuan Ying's family was originally Chinese, Wang Taika didn't have that traditional "you're good, I'm good, we're all good" mentality. He always liked to claim compatriots for no reason; it was meaningless.
Therefore, in Wang Taika's eyes, Won Young is simply a Korean. There's no point in saying anything else.
Yuan Ying, on the other hand, opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but didn't know how to begin. She had always preferred to hide this identity before. But this time, she wanted to acknowledge it. However, being young, she was embarrassed to contradict herself, so she couldn't say anything for a moment.
The goldfish laughed and said, "Wow, our Yuan Ying is really amazing! That's so well said. I'll have to learn from him in the future."
Wang Taika smiled and didn't say anything more.
When Wonyoung saw Wang Taika smile, although she wasn't sure if he was laughing at her, she was still a little happy to have caught his attention. Her cheeks flushed slightly, and she added softly in Korean, "At home, I sometimes say a little bit."
Wang Taika suppressed his smile, nodded, and replied in Chinese, "Not bad, your pronunciation is fairly clear, but your accent is a bit strong."
"Huh?" Yuan Ying blinked, looking somewhat bewildered. She didn't quite understand what "weierchong" meant.
Wang Taika shrugged, too lazy to explain further.
Goldfish rolled its eyes, then gently nudged Wang Taika with its elbow and whispered, "Dad, do you think Yuan Ying has the potential to become a huge star? After all, she's with XB Entertainment, so she shouldn't debut too late, right?"
Wang Taika was well aware of her little scheme. He glanced at her, but didn't respond to that question. Instead, he asked, "How's your Chinese learning progress? Don't just focus on benefiting others; you need to work on it yourself too. I'm also thinking of finding an opportunity to arrange for you to work in the Chinese market. If you make a fool of yourself, I won't be responsible."
"I've been learning all along!" the goldfish muttered. "And I'm confident I won't make a fool of myself. I'll definitely bring honor to Dad."
"That would be best." Wang Taika picked up a piece of roasted meat, put it in his mouth, and chewed it slowly, but his gaze swept thoughtfully over Yuan Ying.
This young girl appeared well-behaved and shy, but the occasional flashes of stubbornness and longing in her eyes didn't escape his notice. Having ambition isn't a bad thing; in the entertainment industry, it's difficult to succeed without it. However, given her young age and already possessing such ambition, it's best to channel it in the right way and avoid going astray.
Why would Wang Taika think this way? It's actually based on experience. After all, he's not a traditional Korean, but a Chinese family. In these naturalized families, the second generation often carries some strange psychological burdens. The most representative example is naturally the ABCs (American-born Chinese), which generally present some problems.
Out of respect for Jin Yu, Wang Taika can guarantee her a smooth debut. But ultimately, it will depend on her own luck and hard work. He won't micromanage or bail her out like he does with Jin Yu. After all, their relationship hasn't reached that level yet.
“Wonyoung,” Wang Taika suddenly spoke, in Korean.
Yuan Ying immediately raised his head, his mouth still stuffed with food, and tried to chew and swallow quickly before sitting up straight: "Yes, Ah, Ah Jushi?"
I had originally intended to call him "Dad," but realized it wasn't appropriate, so I quickly changed my address. Calling him "Uncle" also felt rather strange.
"Practice hard, whether it's dancing or singing." Wang Taika didn't care about these things, his tone was calm but carried an undeniable weight. "I'm giving you the opportunity, but whether you can seize it, and how far you can go, depends on your own ability. Understand?"
These words sounded somewhat cold, but Yuan Ying detected a genuine promise in them, which was an unexpected delight for her. She immediately nodded emphatically, her eyes bright: "Yes! I will definitely try my best! Thank you!"
Jin Yu watched from the side, feeling relieved. Wang Taika's promise was already a great favor. She smiled and said, "But we should still be clear about how we address each other." Wang Taika, however, didn't want to get any closer, simply saying, "I can't keep calling you 'Father,' can I? Just call me 'Sir,' like everyone else."
Yuan Ying was a little disappointed for no apparent reason, but she still obediently said, "Mr. Wang, I will try my best."
After the meal, Jinyu saw Yuanying off. Yuanying needed to go back to continue practicing, and Jinyu had other things to do, so she couldn't go with him.
There are many flights from Jeju Island to Seoul, and since Wang Taika had nothing else to do, he decided to accompany Jinyu to see Yuanying off. They first went back to the hotel to pack their luggage, and then headed to the airport. The journey was rushed and needless to say.
By the time Wang Taika had seen Yuan Ying off at the airport, he was so sleepy he could barely keep his eyes open, yawning as he asked, "Goldfish, do you have a driver's license?"
"Yes, but my driving skills need to be tested. I'll drive slowly." Goldfish was in good spirits, and seeing Wang Taika's sleepy appearance, she said, "Get in the car and take a nap later, Aigoo. Dad, you didn't actually need to come with me."
"It's okay, let's go." Wang Taika yawned.
Upon arriving at the parking lot, Wang Taika sat in the passenger seat and laughed, "The passenger seat feels pretty good too."
"Don't worry, Dad, I drive very steadily." Goldfish started the car.
Wang Taika was actually in the car, but he couldn't fall asleep and looked drowsy, which was distressing to see. In the end, he forced himself to stay awake in the passenger seat.
To distract herself, Jinyu chatted with Wang Taika: "Dad, have you been having any worries lately? You seem a bit... well, I can't quite put my finger on it, but you don't seem as energetic as before."
“Right, maybe it’s because I always keep others full of energy, so I’m a little short of it myself.” Wang Taika thought of Ji-eun and smiled, continuing, “But what could I possibly have to worry about? I eat well, sleep well, the company is running smoothly, and none of you have caused me any major trouble. Life couldn’t be more comfortable.”
"Really?" Goldfish tilted its head, its eyes darting around like a cunning little fox: "Last time we went to that island to film, Jessica and Crystal were both there, but you weren't, Dad. I remember you promised to visit the set."
"You still hold a grudge?" Wang Taika mumbled, "I had a sudden situation at the time and had to handle it personally."
Goldfish drove slowly and said, "Dad, you can't fool me. I bet you actually went to see someone? Or rather, you were dealing with something related to certain people?"
It seems this isn't exactly a secret, after all, Wang Taika has many female confidantes outside the home.
However, he didn't talk about these things much with the goldfish. Wang Taika glanced at the goldfish, chuckled, and shook his head: "When did you become a psychology expert?"
"Because I'm Dad's daughter!" the goldfish said matter-of-factly. "Isn't it only right that I care about Dad's feelings? So if you have any worries, tell me. Maybe you'll feel better if you talk about it."
Wang Taika remained silent for a few seconds, then sighed softly. There was really no need to deny it, especially not something so embarrassing.
“Actually, it’s Cheng Gymnastics,” Wang Taika said. “She confessed her feelings to me before.”
The goldfish blinked, not too surprised, and just listened quietly.
"But I didn't agree." (End of Chapter)
