Chapter 2046 Moving reinforcements

A gentle breeze swept by, swirling up snowflakes that drifted into the window.

Downstairs, the clanging of armored vehicles echoed like a tidal wave, and the accumulated snow was trampled into black mud by two thousand combat boots.

Suddenly, Deputy Dongben on the second floor swung his sword at the Tibetan soldiers beside him. With several loud thuds, blood splattered everywhere, and the soldiers fell to the ground before they could react!
The soldier, who had been harboring resentment and cursing the deputy Dongben as an idiot, now had bloodshot eyes and was panting heavily. Like a hungry beast, he suddenly brandished his scimitar and pounced on the deputy Dongben!
Seeing a ferocious beast attacking, Deputy Dongben immediately swung his sword at the beast's head!

When the soldier saw his prey baring its fangs and claws in retaliation, he flew into a rage! In his subconscious, he was like a tiger that had reigned supreme in the mountains for many years, the king of beasts, and all the other animals were merely walking prey. Now, this little deer dared to butt him with its antlers—it was utterly presumptuous! He swung his knife wildly, wishing he could split the deer's head open!
The two curved blades came down at the same time. Without dodging, with a soft thud, both blades struck the opponent's forehead!
The two fell to the ground simultaneously. In that instant, their eyes suddenly became clear.

Why are you lying on the ground?

"Then why are you lying on the ground too?"

"You...you actually tried to cut me with a knife?"

"You...you also chopped me?"

The two men struggled to get up, instinctively pulling back their knives at the same time. Unexpectedly, as soon as the knives were withdrawn, blood mist burst from their foreheads at the same time. Ah—the two screamed in agony!
Then the screams abruptly stopped!

The music played melodiously, and the two men bled to death!

Xiong Mengyan's jade-like fingers suddenly plucked the Shang string, and the Seven Absolute Demon Qin rippled with a circle of crimson light!
The copper bells on the eaves suddenly shattered in unison, and the snow mist suddenly froze in mid-air!

The Tibetan centurion's pupils constricted—the falling six-petaled ice flowers transformed into pink rouge petals, carrying the warm fragrance of pepper and orchid, and slipped into the gaps in his armor!

"Break!" The centurion swung his sword to slash at the illusion, but the blade sank into an unseen quagmire.

He was startled to find that the curved blade in his hand was covered with blood-red vine-like patterns, and those crimson veins climbed up his forearm from the tiger's mouth, while eerie mandalas emerged from the gaps in his armor.

The music suddenly quickened, and the two strings of the zither burst forth with the cry of a phoenix, as if the soldiers could hear the whispers of their lovers taking root in their ears.

Xiong Mengyan only used three levels of her skill! She intends to hone her zither skills using these two thousand living people!
The old soldier in his three-layered leather armor was the first to go berserk, tearing his ram's horn helmet apart! His chapped fingers scratched his neck as if trying to rip off a non-existent serpent! Some of the younger soldiers, their pupils glowing with a strange, almost demonic light, were still laughing maniacally as they plunged their comrades' scimitars into their waists!
A Tibetan centurion roared and hurled a meteor hammer!
He now realizes that the culprit that has gradually driven him to madness seems to be the piano music coming from the upstairs window!
The person playing the zither is definitely suspicious!
While he still had some consciousness, he wanted to throw the meteor hammer into the window to disrupt the opponent's rhythm of playing the zither. Once the opponent was startled, the rhythm of the zither music would inevitably be interrupted, thus giving everyone a brief time to charge!
Unfortunately, the iron hammer, forged from wrought iron, melted into molten iron in mid-air, dripping onto the ground like red snakes!
What's going on? Could it be that Tara has appeared to us? That meteor hammer was forged over forty-nine days, made of refined steel, yet it instantly turned into molten iron?

Suddenly, the sound of the zither seemed to rise a notch. The centurion felt a sudden darkness before his eyes, and then he saw the world turn upside down and the Milky Way rushing by. He felt as if he were traveling through an endless world. He didn't know how much time had passed when the world stopped spinning and the Milky Way stopped flowing. He felt as if he were in an endless wilderness, where the world was desolate and he felt a sense of vastness and loneliness.
Suddenly, countless black dots appeared on the horizon, growing larger and larger, like a black tide surging in!
When the black tide reached several hundred feet away, he finally realized something was wrong! If it was a tide, how could it be stirring up a sky full of yellow sand?

That wasn't a black tide; it was countless hungry wolves with bared fangs and ferocious faces, surging towards him like a tide!

A swarm of wolves covering the sky?
The centurion turned and fled, only to find that more than a dozen of his enemies had surrounded him!
Surrounded and attacked from both sides? The centurion gritted his teeth, brandished his scimitar, and charged forward! Between two evils, choose the lesser; fight the enemy and you might survive. Even if you don't, taking a few down with you before you die would be worth it!

As a soldier, he was prepared to die on the battlefield, but he could not accept dying at the hands of wolves and ending up with no remains.
For a Tibetan, sky burial after death is the highest honor!
Tibetan sky burial is divided into three stages: "purification of the body," "dissection," and "feeding to vultures," each representing a different meaning. "Purification of the body" signifies the removal of worldly attachments; "dissection" represents the release of the body from the soul's constraints; and "feeding to vultures" signifies the soul ascending to heaven on the wings of vultures. In Buddhism, vultures are considered incarnations of dakinis, and their "caw-caw" sound when they devour their prey is regarded as a mantra for deliverance. The more thoroughly the flesh and bones disappear, the lighter and purer the soul is considered to be.

If surrounded by a swarm of vultures, the centurion would immediately lie down and "sacrifice himself"! For this is a sky burial, the highest honor! To have no remains is a blessing, while to have any remains is a curse!
The Buddha said: If a corpse is left exposed for three days without being eaten, it is a sign that the deceased has committed grave sins and a lama should be invited to chant sutras to cleanse his karma! If the remaining bones are taken away by wild dogs, a sky burial master should be hired at great expense to summon the soul and use a doll as a substitute to replenish the body's food!
There were no wild dogs behind him, but a pack of hungry wolves. He would rather die by his enemy's knife than by the wolves' bite!
Wolves are earth spirits, servants of Mara. How can they be compared to the dakini, the celestial messenger?

Vultures only eat carnivorous meat, while wolves are omnivorous, eating everything, bones and all!
If a vulture eats itself, it will carry its soul across Mount Sumeru, while if a wolf eats itself, it will drag its soul into the Eight Cold Hells of the Underground—nailing it into the "Stone Press Hell," where it will suffer the torment of being crushed by earth and stone for eternity, never to be reincarnated!

The centurion brandished his scimitar and roared as he charged into the ranks of his "enemies," hacking and slashing wildly!

Meanwhile, the Tibetan soldiers, who were their "enemies," discovered that their enemies were rushing towards them in a frenzy. Enemies meeting each other were filled with intense hatred!
"Kill!" The Tibetan soldiers brandished their scimitars and hacked wildly at the centurion!

Almost all the centurions were caught up in a melee with their own men!

"You audacious monster, how dare you kill someone in the street!" A furious shout rang out, like a thunderclap from a clear sky!

But then three red-robed lamas walked out from the end of the long street. They were tall and imposing, and the three of them exuded a powerful aura that could be described as a thousand troops. Pedestrians on the street quickly made way for them!
After a brutal infighting, only 1,300 of the 2,000 remained. The Buddhist lion's roar startled the Tibetan soldiers, making them freeze in place as if they had been frozen in place!
Although the lama's esoteric lion's roar sound wave instantly dispersed the sound wave of the Seven Absolute Demon Harp, the Seven Absolute Demon Harp continued unabated and then re-entered the minds of the Tibetan soldiers, pulling them back into the isolated little world!

The soldiers once again viewed the people around them as wolves and tigers that would devour anyone, as well as their irreconcilable enemies. To save their lives and seek revenge, they had no choice but to fight with their backs to the wall and risk their lives!
In an instant, screams, roars, and the clash of metal blades mingled together, and the Asura Hell reappeared, with flashing swords and flying flesh and blood!
A clear note pierced through the snow-covered sky, like morning dew falling into a pottery jar. The sound was tinged with a rough, gritty quality, and suddenly, a few specks of pine soot splattered onto the half-dried, crackled plum blossom-patterned surface of the zither! That was the result of Xiong Mengyan's internal energy!

The music suddenly shifted, like wind surging through a pine forest, a sob seeping into the strings, the dramatic change of key making the moss on the stone pillar tremble slightly!

Three red-robed lamas, their faces grim, arrived at the foot of the Yuelai Restaurant in the blink of an eye. The tall lama in the middle said in a deep voice, "I'll go up and meet that musician!" He bowed slightly, then suddenly leaped upwards, like an arrow released from a bow, or a red cloud, instantly flying into the window!

The tall, red-robed lama had just leaned through the window when he was met with a sword aura!
The sound of the zither transforms into a sword!

The red-robed lama immediately clasped his hands together, trapping the invisible sword energy!
If it weren't for his martial arts reaching the peak of the ninth realm and his keen senses, this sword would have already taken his life!

He shattered the sword energy with both palms and landed gracefully!
Before me stood a woman in white, intently playing the zither! Beside her stood two maid-like girls, their hands covering their ears and their eyes tightly closed!

Originally, the music of the zither was meant to be intoxicating, but the red-robed lama, confident in his strong inner strength, managed to suppress his wandering thoughts. However, upon suddenly noticing Xiong Mengyan playing the zither, memories of their past dual cultivation instantly flooded his mind. His breathing quickened, his heart raced, and a burning desire appeared in his eyes!
Her eyebrows slanted upwards towards her temples, her eyes were upturned at the corners, and when her eyes moved, her pupils shone with an eerie amber color, like a cat or a fox, full of wild allure; her lips were as red as fire, like raging flames, making one want to kiss them passionately and taste their flavor!
The red-robed lama immediately leered, "Little lady, you are so beautiful and have a great figure. How about we cultivate together?"

Wang Sheng and Duanmu Yan stood up at the same time!

Xiong Mengyan frowned, feeling deeply disgusted, and immediately increased her power to the fifth level!
The ten fingers plucked the strings swiftly like the wind, and the sound of the zither suddenly changed, like a horse's hooves shattering the moon over the mountain pass, or a soldier coughing up blood, and the desolate feeling of the desert came over you!

Chili covered her ears and asked, "Miss, why is this zither piece called 'Yangguan Sandie'?" Covering her ears was just for peace of mind, as Yuan Zishan had already set up a glass shield around her! Although the zither music was strong, it could still penetrate the glass shield, but it had been weakened considerably, and she could only hear it faintly, no longer able to harm her.

Yuan Zishan said: "The name Yangguan is taken from the poem 'Sending Yuan Er to Anxi' by Wang Wei, which contains the line 'No old friends left after leaving Yangguan.' Yangguan was an important pass on the Silk Road during the Tang Dynasty, symbolizing parting and the frontier."

The term "three-fold repetition" refers to the same melody being played three times through variations, forming a three-part structure. It is not a simple repetition but a progressive development.

The first section is based on the original four lines of the poem, with a gentle melody like a farewell speech; the second section gradually tightens the rhythm, intensifying the sorrow of parting; the third section ends with a slow and weak ending, as if sighing for the shadow of a traveler far away.

The three characters in the triple repetition subtly echo the concept of the Three Powers (Heaven, Earth, and Man) in the Book of Changes, embodying the harmonious unity of these three elements. The qin song form, blending poetry and music, became a model of Tang Dynasty literati music. Now, it should be time for the second repetition!

Inside the glass shield, Chili heard Yuan Zishan's words clearly!
The red-robed lama was less than ten feet away from Xiong Mengyan, practically within reach. He was immediately overcome with lust and reached out to grab her!
Everyone thought he wanted to capture Xiong Mengyan alive using the "capturing dragon and controlling crane" technique, but unexpectedly his arm suddenly grew to eight feet, and it looked like the big hand was about to touch Xiong Mengyan's throat!

Everyone was shocked!

Xiong Mengyan was even more surprised!
In her haste, she could only use her left hand to grab the red-robed lama's wrist with a small grappling technique, while continuing to pluck the strings with her right hand!
The red-robed lama was taken aback, not expecting the white-robed girl's martial arts skills to be no less than his own! The girl's left hand moved like a snake, swift as lightning, aiming for his wrist's vital point. If it were caught, his arm would likely be lost!
The red-robed lama immediately withdrew his hand, lewdly saying, "I love wild horses like you the most; it's only fun to tame them!" He then fiercely struck out with both palms, which were already blackened and reeked of a foul stench—it was the Great Hand Seal of Tantric Buddhism!

Wang Sheng shouted, "Draw your sword!"

Clang—Azure Frost is drawn!
Duanmu Yan's Rebirth Arrow was also fired!
Xiong Mengyan sneered, and her right hand stopped plucking the strings. Instead, she joined her fingers together like a sword and thrust it out!

*Thud*—The red-robed lama's palms were pierced through by the Frost Sword, strung together like a string! Over there, Feng Jiuxiao is strung like potato skewers; over here, I, Wang Sheng, am strung like a bracelet! A string of palms! Anyone who dares to touch Xiong Mengyan, I, Wang, swear to make them wish they were dead!
*Thud*—almost simultaneously, the arrow of rebirth pierced the lama's neck!

*Thud!* Xiong Mengyan's sword energy shot through the lama's body with a single finger strike! It pierced his chest and emerged from his back!
Blood gushed from both sides of his neck and chest vest at the same time! Of the three wounds, only his palms were not bleeding, because the flying sword was still in his palms!
Only then did the red-robed lama realize his mistake! His expression changed drastically, and he glared at Xiong Mengyan with a ferocious look. "Impossible! How could your martial arts be so high?" As soon as he finished speaking, blood gushed from his chest, and the red-robed lama's eyes instantly lost their luster, turning ashen. He was dead!
Whoosh—the Frost Sword that pierced through both palms flew back into its sheath!
With a flick of her sleeve, Xiong Mengyan unleashed a powerful gust of wind, and the red-robed lama's corpse was swept out of the window!

Amidst the swirling snowflakes, a crimson cloud drifts down!
Thud—The body fell to the ground, sending snowflakes flying outwards from the surrounding area!

The two red-robed lamas who were standing below waiting for news were immediately shocked! They rushed over to check on their senior brother's wounds!

What was going on? The two lamas were shocked! Their senior brother had three penetrating wounds, and judging from the angle of the wounds, it must have been three masters who attacked at the same time! This small Yuelai Restaurant was full of hidden masters; so many experts had suddenly appeared. It seemed that these Tibetan soldiers were in grave danger!

The two lamas were named Losang and Jigme. Losang said, "Our senior brother couldn't even last three moves. Even if we are stronger, we probably can't withstand thirty moves from the combined attack of three masters!"

Jinmei asked, "So what do you mean?"

"Go back and get reinforcements!"

"Who please?"

"Of course it's the Living Buddha Bayan! Apart from the Imperial Preceptor, he's the only one in the entire Tibet who can subdue the demoness, the Demon Harp!"
