Chapter 4692 4695 [Book of the Same Language]
In addition to taking more active, people-friendly and effective missionary measures, the doctrines formulated by Xiang Nan are also in line with the interests of the broadest masses.
In the Book of Revelation, Xiang Nan teaches believers that they are born equal and should take care of the poor, children, the elderly and the weak; do not do to others what you do not want others to do to you;
We must treat slaves well and encourage their release; we must protect private property, and both men and women have property rights and inheritance rights; we must oppose deception, rape, plunder, cannibalism, and robbery...
These concepts were very advanced, even ahead of their time, in ancient times, especially in the 13th century BC when most areas were still in a barbaric era.
For example, to protect private property, no one, including the Pharaoh, could deprive others of their property without legal permission. This provision was very friendly to the landlord class.
Taking care of the poor, children, the elderly and the weak was also very friendly to the lower classes. In particular, it encouraged the release of slaves, which was a great blessing for the slaves.
Therefore, "Revelation" gained wide recognition, and coupled with effective missionary measures, Xiang Nan's teachings quickly became popular in Egypt and Hittite.
People began to act according to the teachings and norms of the Book of Revelation, including daily life, propriety, morality, marriage, birth, aging, illness and death, morality and law, etc.
In this way, the differences between Egypt and Hittite were further bridged, and they gradually accepted one country and one civilization.
Of course this is a story for later.
……
The second strategy Xiang Nan formulated for Ansuna was to move the capital.
Today, the country's capital is Thebes, which is located in the central part of Egypt, far away from the Hittites, and transportation is very inconvenient.
Especially the management of the Hittites was a bit out of reach.
Therefore, Xiang Nan suggested that Ansuna move the capital from Thebes to Mazarah in the north of Egypt, close to the Mediterranean Sea.
On the one hand, Mazarah is located at the mouth of the Nile River, so there is abundant water to meet the drinking water needs of the city's residents. It is close to the Mediterranean Sea, which can promote the development of maritime trade.
Xiang Nan wants to promote Egypt's development from a land country to a maritime country, because compared with conservative land countries, maritime countries are obviously more pioneering;
On the one hand, Mazarah is relatively close to the Middle East and Southern Europe, and is also on the edge of Suez. When the Suez Canal is opened in the future, the Mediterranean, Red Sea, Black Sea and Aegean Sea will be connected, and it will become the most important trade hub.
The plan to move the capital was opposed by many vested interests.
Those vested interests included the princes and ministers of Thebes, the priests and nobles, the landlords and merchants, etc.
They originally had houses, land, temples, believers and businesses in Thebes, but now that the capital has been moved, many of them have to start all over again.
So naturally they are dissatisfied.
But the arm cannot twist the leg, and under the strong leadership of Ansuna, the capital relocation officially began.
……
The third strategy is to standardize the writing system and weights and measures.
Egypt and Hittite both have their own writing systems. Egypt uses hieroglyphics, which are divided into hieroglyphics, monasticism and secularism. Hittite uses cuneiform writing. Both of these writing systems are the oldest in the world.
The difference in writing deepened the gap between the two places and increased the cost of governance. After all, many documents need to be translated before they can be understood, which is really inconvenient.
Therefore, Xiang Nan suggested that Ansuna should unify the written language and vigorously promote the secular style which is more convenient to write and has simpler grammar.
The secular script is a simplified version of the monastic script, and the monastic script is a simplified version of the sacred script. Just like the official script is derived from the small seal script, and the small seal script is derived from the large seal script, it has been simplified step by step. This simplified script is easier to write and easier to promote.
After unifying the writing system, the differences between the two places can be bridged, allowing the people of the two places to integrate more quickly.
The same is true for weights and measures. The sizes, weights, and volumes used by Egypt and the Hittites were also different, which also increased the difficulty of trade and taxation.
Therefore, after standardizing the weights and measures, a lot of trouble can be avoided.
Following Xiang Nan's advice, Ansuna established a school in the temple to teach believers to read and write for free.
In the 13th century BC, literate people were still a minority, and only the children of princes, nobles, landlords and wealthy merchants could read and write.
Because only they can afford the tuition fees, while ordinary families cannot afford the tuition fees at all, so naturally they have no right to receive education.
Just like Confucius, although he had 3,000 disciples and taught everyone, no matter if they were nobles or commoners, they could all learn from him. But Confucius also insisted that if you wanted to learn from him, you had to offer ten pieces of dried meat.
Not to mention before the Christian era, even in the 1980s, people did not eat meat very often. Many families could only buy some meat during the Chinese New Year.
Xiang Nan knew that reading and writing were very important.
Only by reading and writing can one understand reason, know etiquette, and pass on education.
Moreover, Xiangnan will invade Europe in the future, and will need a large number of literate people to rule and preach. Therefore, schools are built now to enroll students so that there will be enough manpower in the future.
……
Sure enough, the temple established a school to teach believers to read and write for free, which immediately attracted a large number of believers.
In ancient times, the tradition of attaching importance to learning was not unique to China. In fact, wherever people were, they all realized that "knowledge is wealth" and had the desire to study and make progress.
For example, in the medieval Europe, which is known as the "Dark Ages", there were still many schools. Not only church schools, but also many secular schools, and even many well-known universities were founded at that time.
These believers came to the temple to read and learn knowledge, which further increased their cohesion and their admiration and worship for Xiang Nan.
Therefore, it is the best of both worlds.
……
The fourth strategy is to vigorously promote advanced agricultural technologies, such as deep plowing, fertilization, breeding, crop rotation, etc.
In ancient times, people in many places did not know how to apply fertilizers, nor did they have the awareness of deep plowing and seed breeding. In many places, farming was purely dependent on the weather. Just scattering seeds on the ground was enough, and the quality of the harvest depended entirely on God.
Therefore, Xiang Nan taught them more sophisticated agricultural knowledge, such as deep plowing, fertilization, breeding, crop rotation, etc., so as to increase unit yield.
In this way, the people can get more food and more wealth. Moreover, more food can feed more people, thus strengthening the country's strength.
In ancient times, population was wealth. More people meant more people would pay taxes, serve in the army, and join the military, which would give us more power to deal with foreign enemies. And more people meant better assimilation of other races.
Egypt now has a population of only 4 million, and with the Hittites it only has 7 million, which is not a lot. It is not easy to annex Europe with such a small population. Even if it can be annexed, it cannot be assimilated, and will eventually split.
Therefore, Xiang Nan requires that the more people the better, and the more people there are, the more conducive to development.
