Chapter 5028 5031 [This is a test for you]

Bilbo took the dagger from Xiang Nan and swallowed.

This dagger isn't even long enough to trim an ogre's nails.

Moreover, he had never faced such a powerful and terrifying creature, which made him very panicked at the moment, and his heart was pounding.

He just saw that the dwarves were all looking at him, with expectation and amusement in their eyes.

He knew that he couldn't give in like this, otherwise he would be looked down upon by the dwarves.

So he swallowed his saliva, mustered up his courage, and finally, with a dagger in his pocket, he tiptoed after the ogre.

Gandalf was right, hobbits did not make any sound when they walked, which made them difficult to detect.

"I didn't expect he actually had the courage to follow him." Xiang Nan said.

The other dwarves nodded.

Even dwarves would have a hard time facing powerful ogres, and Bilbo was neither a warrior nor a thief, just an ordinary man.

After seeing the ogre, not only was he not scared, but he actually dared to follow it. Such courage is truly impressive.

"If he can't even face the trolls, he has no right to go with us to the Lonely Mountain." Thorin said coldly.

Xiang Nan knew that he had always looked down on Bilbo and thought he was not qualified to join the team. The only reason he tolerated his existence was entirely because of Gandalf.

……

"I wonder if he can save our horses."

"Do you want us to go and help him? I mean, it would be difficult for him to deal with the ogre on his own."

"If there are a lot of ogres over there, I'm afraid not only will he be in trouble, but our horses won't be saved either."

The dwarves suggested one after another.

"No, no one is allowed to help. This is a test for him." Thorin refused coldly.

If you can make mistakes in front of stupid ogres, how can you face the more insidious, cunning, scheming, and powerful dragon Smaug? !

When everyone heard him say this, they could only nod.

But Xiang Nan still escaped from his soul and followed Bilbo, helping him to guard the battlefield.

Bilbo followed the trolls quietly to an open space in the dense forest, where there were two more trolls, just as tall, strong, and ugly as the previous one, and they also emitted a foul smell.

In the middle of the open space, there was a bonfire burning, and on top of it was a huge pot. A ogre was holding a large spoon, stirring the pot vigorously.

I don’t know what’s cooked inside, it’s sticky and gives off a strange smell.

"We ate mutton yesterday, mutton today, and tomorrow we're not going to eat mutton again, are we?" The ogre saw his companion returning with two animals under his armpits, and he immediately complained loudly, his voice as unpleasant as thunder.

"Stop complaining. These are not sheep, they are two horses." The ogre who caught the horses scolded, and then put the two ponies into the animal pen surrounded by wooden fences.

"Oh! I don't like horses, never have liked them, there's not even fat on them." The ogre said with disgust.

"It's better than a skinny old farmer." The other ogre said with disgust, "He is just skin and bones. He still sticks to my teeth."

As they argued, they gathered around the campfire and continued to stir the food in the pot. Suddenly, one of the ogres sneezed like thunder, and a lot of snot was sprayed into the pot.

"Great! Look what you've done, even your snot is in the pot." An ogre complained unhappily.

"It's okay, maybe it can add some flavor." The ogre said with a wicked smile, "Let me have some more, I still have plenty in my nose."

"Stop it, you idiot." The other ogre pinched its nose, making the ogre scream in pain.

"You all sit down," the remaining ogre said. "I hope you can remove the horse's entrails. I hate eating entrails the most."

"I'm starving. When are we going to eat?" asked the ogre who was blowing his nose. "Are we going to have horse meat tonight?"

"Shut your stinky mouth, and eat whatever I give you." The ogre who was cooking scolded.

"Why do you always cook? Everything you cook tastes the same." The snot-blowing ogre said unhappily, "Everything tastes like chicken, but chicken tastes like fish."

"Shut up. It's good enough to have something to eat. You should be grateful." shouted the ogre who was cooking.

……

While the ogres were arguing, Bilbo quietly came to the animal pen.

He saw that the animal pen was made of wood and thick hemp rope. He tried to untie the hemp rope but failed.

He stopped and thought for a while, then took out the dagger Xiang Nan handed him and cut the thick hemp ropes with force.

Unexpectedly, the dagger Xiang Nan gave him was very sharp. It cut the hemp rope in just a few strokes, creating a gap in the animal pen that was big enough for the horse to squeeze through.

Bilbo immediately went into the stable and quietly took hold of the two horse reins. "Good boys, good boys, don't make noise, come with me~" He comforted the ponies while slowly leading them out.

Seeing this, Xiang Nan also cast a spell to cover him, so that the three ogres were so busy arguing that they didn't notice that Bilbo had taken away both horses.

Bilbo led the two horses quietly through the gap in the animal pen and walked in the direction they came from. The two ponies were also very docile and followed him quietly.

The man and two horses soon walked away.

Only then did Xiang Nan retract his magic.

"Well, we just need to gut the two horses and put them in the pot to boil for a while, and our dinner will be ready." The ogre in charge of cooking said, and then turned to the stable to get the horses. "Hey, where are our horses? Why are they gone?"

"Are you blind? There it was," said the ogre who had caught the horse. "Why, it's really gone."

"I told you to keep them in the stable, or they'd run away," said the ogre, blowing his nose.

"Shut up, I don't need your reminder, I put them in the stable." The ogre who caught the horse defended himself.

"Where are they going now? They won't run away if we put them in the pen," said the ogre who was cooking.

"I'm almost starving to death, let's go catch a few more." said the ogre who was blowing his nose.

"Why do you always order me to work? You should come with me," said the ogre who was catching the horse.

"That's enough, stop complaining, let's go together." The ogre who was cooking said, "I'm almost starving, and I don't have the energy to argue with you."

"That's more like it. Come with me. I know there are still many horses there." The ogre who was catching the horse nodded.

As they spoke, the three ogres walked towards the dwarves' camp together.
