Chapter 5032: 5035 [The Elf Lord's Shabby Hospitality]

Chapter 5032: 5035 [The Elf Lord's Shabby Hospitality]

"This is Rivendell, the last home of the elves on the east coast of the sea." Gandalf said with emotion.

There are only three elven kingdoms in Middle-earth now, namely Rivendell, Mirkwood and Lothlórien.

The lord of Rivendell is Elrond, the lord of Mirkwood is Elendil, and the lords of Lothlorien are Galadriel and her husband Celeborn.

Elrond holds one of the three elven rings, the Ring of Air, Veya, which has the power to "understand, create and protect" and preserve all things uncontaminated.

Rivendell can be so quiet and peaceful thanks to this ring of power.

Galadriel and Celeborn possess Nengya, the Ring of Water, one of the Three Rings of the Elves, which has the same power as Veya, the Ring of Air.

The long-lasting prosperity of Lothlórien was also due to this ring.

Elendil, the lord of Mirkwood, has the weakest power because he does not have the Ring of the Elf.

His elven kingdom in Mirkwood was shrinking as a result, and many places were occupied by giant spiders, the descendants of Ungoliant.

This was demonstrated in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

……

After entering Rivendell, the Elf King Elrond ordered his subordinates to prepare a feast for the dwarves.

The dwarves were invited into the hall to eat, and there were handsome elves playing harps and flutes to entertain everyone.

However, the dwarves did not like to be pretentious and sing about the wind and the moon, and they were also dissatisfied with the food provided by the elves.

Because the food provided by the elves were all green vegetables, fruits and mushrooms, without the meat, staple foods and pastries they liked.

“I don’t like eating leaves~”

"Is there no meat at all?"

"Are there any potato chips?"

The dwarves looked at the table full of green food and found it totally inedible and tasted like chewing wax.

Seeing this, Xiang Nan waved his hand, and in an instant, all the vegetables, fruits, and mushrooms were swept away, and replaced by bacon, grilled sausages, fried steak, fried pork chops, fried potatoes, toast, fruit pudding, chocolate cake, etc.

"Yeah! That's more like it!"

“This is what we like to eat.”

"Haha, Qili, you are still the best~"

When the dwarves saw it, they burst into laughter and then began to eat with relish.

These mixtures of meat, starch, sugar and oil are their favorite.

"..." Elrond was stunned when he saw Xiang Nan could easily create delicious food. He looked at Xiang Nan in surprise, "Unbelievable~"

Even if he had the Ring of Air, Viya, it would be impossible for him to conjure up delicious food out of thin air. The elves also needed to work hard to get something.

Of course, with the blessing of the Ring of Air, the elves can always get a good harvest, so they have no shortage of food. But like Xiang Nan, conjuring food out of thin air is really unthinkable.

As Thorin gnawed on the greasy roasted leg of lamb and looked at Elrond who had a shocked expression on his face, he couldn't help but feel a little proud.

……

"Dwarf friend, who taught you magic?" Elrond asked curiously.

"A god taught me in a dream. I don't know His name, but I know that He is glowing white and has countless bright spots inside His body, twinkling like stars." Xiang Nan explained.

"..." Elrond was also stunned after hearing this and looked at Gandalf in surprise.

Gandalf also shook his head. He also knew nothing about the god in Xiang Nan's dream.

But he could see that the god was very powerful. Apart from other things, just being able to "create something out of nothing" and conjure up delicious food was already amazing.

Elrond was even more surprised when he saw that Gandalf didn't know.

He is one of the few people in Middle-earth who knows Gandalf's true identity. If even Gandalf doesn't know this god, then this god is really too mysterious.

"This is the Beast Bite Sword, the sword that slays goblins." Then, Elrond looked at the long sword made by the elven craftsmen that Thorin and Gandalf seized.

Among them, Thorin got the "Beast Bite Sword".

In the world of The Lord of the Rings, orcs and goblins are actually the same creature, just like potatoes are also called "potatoes" and "yam eggs".

"This is Glamdring, the Hammer of Foes, the sword of the King of Gondolin," Elrond said to Gandalf. "It is a famous sword forged by my kin, the Elves of the West, forged for the great wars of the Orcs in the First Age. May it help you."

Hearing the impressive names and great origins of the two swords, Bilbo could not help but reach for the dagger at his waist.

He wanted to ask Elrond what the name of his sword was and what its origin was.

"Don't bother to know its origins." Balin smiled and advised, "Swords are named after their merits in war."

"What do you mean? Are you saying that my sword has never participated in the war?" Bilbo asked puzzledly.

"In my opinion, this is not a sword, it's more like a letter opener." Balin laughed. Even a short dwarf would not use such a short weapon.

Bilbo suddenly felt depressed.

……

"Where did you get these swords?" Elrond asked curiously.

"We found it in the troll cave on the Eastern Road," Gandalf told the truth.

"What are you doing on the Eastern Avenue?" Elrond continued to ask.

The Eastern Road connects Rivendell to the Grey Havens in the west. Generally speaking, humans and elves walk this road more frequently, while dwarves and wizards are rarely seen.

Thorin became alert when asked this question, but he was unwilling to lie to Elrond, so he could only stand up and said, "Sorry, I have to excuse myself for a moment~"

"Thirteen dwarves and a halfling. What strange traveling companions, Gandalf," Elrond laughed.

"Haha, just going to do something." Gandalf laughed awkwardly, "Eat first, haha."

After hearing what Gandalf said, Elrond stopped asking further questions.

After the meal, Elrond ordered the elves to take the dwarves down to rest.

Gandalf took Thorin, Balin and Bilbo to find Elrond, hoping that he could help solve the mystery on the map.

"The dwarves' affairs are none of the elves' business." Thorin refused decisively.

"By the grace of Ilúvatar, Thorin, show him the map," Gandalf said impatiently.

"The map is my grandfather's legacy. I want to protect it and the secrets it holds." Thorin said stubbornly.

"You dwarves, please stop being so stubborn. Your arrogance will hurt you one day." Gandalf said earnestly, "The person standing in front of you is one of the few people in Middle-earth who can interpret this map. Show it to him. Unless you don't want to know what secrets this map contains."

Thorin hesitated for a long time, but finally handed the map to Gandalf.

He needed Elrond to help him find the hidden door, otherwise he would have no ability to enter Erebor in the belly of the Lonely Mountain.

"Thorin, no..." Balin tried to stop him. He distrusted the elves as much as Thorin did.
