Chapter 5158-5161 [The Truth Revealed]

“Diana, a human…” Xiang Nan tried to persuade her.

“Maybe my mother was right. Humans aren’t worth saving. They aren’t worth saving, Steve,” Diana said, looking at Xiang Nan.

She now understood why her mother had prevented her from coming to the human world. It turned out that everything her mother had told her was indeed a fabricated story.

Humanity is inherently evil and not worth saving. Therefore, even though she eliminated Ares, the god of war, the war did not stop.

“Maybe we’re not worth it, but that’s irrelevant. It all depends on what you believe,” Xiang Nan advised. “I’ve been through so much, do you think I don’t understand? Do you think I don’t want to tell you it’s all one person’s fault? But no. We’re all at fault!”

“I didn’t!” Diana said firmly.

She was the embodiment of kindness, courage, passion, and justice; she was not wrong. She never did anything wrong, never killed the wrong person.

“But perhaps I am wrong,” Xiang Nan said to Diana. “Please, Diana, if you believe this war must stop, if you want to stop this war, help me stop it now.”

Because if you don't help, millions more will die. Please, come with me, we have to go.

“No,” Diana refused again.

She believed that humanity was inherently evil and did not deserve her salvation.

"Then I have to go," Xiang Nan said resolutely. He then turned and ran down the tower, calling out, "Charlie, Samir, over here!"

"Where is Diana?" Samir asked with concern.

"We can only rely on ourselves now," Xiang Nan said, waving his hand.

"What?!" Samir was quite surprised.

Without Diana as a powerful ally, their team was reduced to only four men. They faced hundreds, even thousands, of German soldiers, a force they could not possibly withstand, even with superhuman strength.

"It's a long story," Xiang Nan said, shaking his head. Then he looked at Charlie and asked, "What did you see?"

"I saw those German soldiers transporting poison gas bombs, but I don't know where they're going to take them," Charlie said, peering through his sniper scope.

"We should try to find a way to get through this," Xiang Nan suggested.

“I have a plan,” Samir said, pointing to the corpses of the German soldiers on the ground.

These were the killings they committed when they first infiltrated the airport; several of them were killed by Diana.

Xiang Nan nodded and immediately changed into German uniforms with Samir, Charlie, and the chief, and put on gas helmets so that no one could recognize them.

They then strode briskly toward the location where the poison gas bombs were being transported.

……

Just as Xiang Nan and the others were leaving, Diana suddenly sensed someone behind her.

She turned around in confusion, only to be surprised to find a middle-aged man with a cane in the tower. It was Sir Patrick Morgan, the one who had funded their operation.

"How did you get here?" Diana asked, puzzled.

Sir Patrick, the assassin should be in London, England, thousands of miles away, not here. "Diana, you're right, humanity doesn't deserve our saving," Sir Patrick said. "It only deserves destruction."

Diana was stunned for a moment, then a shock ran through her. "So it was you, you were Ares, the God of War."

“You guessed right, it’s me. But I’m not what you think,” Sir Patrick said frankly. “I’m not your enemy, Diana. I’m the only one who truly understands you and sees through humanity just like you do.”

Humanity has always been this way, and will always be this way: cowardly, cruel, selfish, capable of the most terrible things. I've always hoped that the gods could see how evil the humans my father created were, but they refused to acknowledge it, so I destroyed them…”

"I am Diana from Paradise Island, daughter of Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons. I have come here to fulfill a mission. Die, Ares!" Diana had no interest in his seduction and raised her longsword to thrust it forcefully at Ares.

Ares simply raised his hand to block, and the Godslayer Sword shattered into pieces as easily as if it were made of mud.

"The Godslayer Sword?!" Diana exclaimed in astonishment.

She never imagined that this god-slaying sword could not kill a god and was destroyed so easily.

“Silly child, that is not the God-Slayer Sword. The real God-Slayer Sword is you,” Ares laughed. “Only a god can kill a god, and you are the illegitimate daughter of my father Zeus and the Amazon Queen Hippolyta.”

"No, you liar, I'll make you tell the truth!" Upon hearing Ares's words, Diana was both surprised and ashamed. She immediately took out the Lasso of Truth and tightly bound it around Ares.

From a young age, her mother Hippolyta told her that she was a clay figure formed by Hippolyta and then born with the blessing of Zeus. But now, Ares was saying that she was the illegitimate daughter of Zeus and Hippolyta, which she found completely unacceptable.

“I am stating the truth,” Ares said calmly. “I am not the God of War, Diana, I am the God of Truth.”

Humanity has stolen this world from us, and day after day, they are destroying it. I am the only one who sees through it all, yet I am powerless to stop them because I am alone.

For so many years, I've had to fight alone, whispering my ideas in their ears, inventing poisons, weapons, strategies...

But I didn't let them use it; they started the war themselves. I knew they couldn't avoid killing each other, but letting them kill each other wasn't enough.

Until you appeared. When you first appeared, I intended to destroy you. But I knew that if you could see things that the gods could not, you would want to join me.

"But if we join forces, we can end all the suffering and repair the damage they have caused. We can restore this world to its pre-human paradise."

As Ares spoke, he placed his hand on the Lasso of Truth.

Immediately, a series of illusions entered Diana's mind along the Lasso of Truth.

She immediately realized that although Ludendorff was not Ares, he had indeed been misled by Ares. His strategies and tactics were all Ares's ideas.

Dr. Maru's poison gas bombs were also inspired by Ares's formula, which is why they are so evil and deadly.

The final vision is that after humanity is gone, Earth has returned to its prehistoric state. Everywhere there are blue skies and white clouds, green mountains and clear waters, and birds singing and flowers blooming.

There were no towering chimneys, no thick smog, no polluted river water, no noisy crowds... It really looked like paradise.

“I will never…never stand with you.” Diana was not lost in this illusion; she quickly came to her senses and rejected Ares.

“My dear, I didn’t want to be your enemy. But if I have to…” Ares said, suddenly releasing a powerful electric current from his hands.

Diana was then sent flying far away, and a huge explosion occurred in the tower, startling everyone at the airport.
