Harry Potter and the Great Old Ones
Chapter 109 Roaring Letter
Chapter 109 Roaring Letter
When Tierra returned to the Gryffindor common room, the Gryffindors had already dispersed.
Tierra tiptoed back to her dormitory.
My hands were empty except for a takeout meal.
After asking the house-elves for food, Tierra asked them to help deliver the old suitcase Malfoy had given him back to his dorm room. It is now quietly placed next to Tierra's bed.
"Hey, Harry!" Tyella said, lifting the food box in her hand as she saw Harry. "I didn't see you at the banquet. You must be hungry."
“Oh…Tierra… well, actually Ron and I have already eaten,” Harry said somewhat embarrassedly.
“That’s great.” Tierra casually put down the lunchbox she was holding.
Anyway, he wasn't really going to get Harry food; he just wanted an excuse to go to the basement.
Harry was exhausted from today's thrilling motorbike ride and had little interest in talking to Tyrell. After saying goodnight, they went to bed.
They started classes the next day—
This should have been something to look forward to, but Harry and Ron were on pins and needles during breakfast.
Through a brief exchange of glances, Tyrell knew that Harry was worried about the impending solitary confinement punishment, while Ron was worried about his mother's scolding.
Just as Harry took his first sip of porridge, he heard a commotion overhead.
Hundreds of owls swarmed in, circling the auditorium and dropping letters and packages into the conversationing crowd.
A bulging, large package fell on Neville's head, followed by a large, grayish creature falling into Hermione's pot.
Instantly, milk and feathers splashed everywhere.
“They really need to improve the way they deliver packages by owl.” Tierra quickly picked up her textbook from the table—
However, Tom Riddle's diary, which was placed under the textbook, was not so lucky and was splashed with milky white liquid.
"Erol!" Ron had no time to listen to Tiera's rambling and pulled the wet owl out by its claws.
Errol lay slumped on the table, his legs dangling in the air, a wet red envelope dangling from his mouth.
“Oh no!” Ron cried out.
“It’s alright, it’s still alive,” Hermione reassured, gently poking Errol with her wand.
“No! It’s that one.” Ron pointed to the red envelope.
"What's wrong?" Harry asked.
“She… my mother sent me a screaming letter,” Ron said desperately.
“You’d better open it,” Neville said quietly. “It’s worse if you don’t. Grandma sent me one once, and I ignored it, and then—” He took a breath, as if recalling some unpleasant memory, “that was terrible.”
“What is a howl letter?” Harry asked.
But Ron's attention was completely focused on the letter, and smoke was already rising from the four corners of the envelope.
“Open it quickly,” Neville urged, “You only have a few minutes…”
Ron reached out with trembling hands and carefully took the envelope from Errol's mouth, then tore it open.
Neville plugged his ears with his fingers—
At first, everyone thought it was an explosion; the huge noise filled the entire auditorium, shaking dust off the ceiling. "Ron Weasley! You disgust me! Stealing the car! I wouldn't be surprised if they fired you; just wait and see how I deal with you. You probably never even considered how your father and I felt when we found the car was gone!"
It was Mrs. Weasley's shout, a hundred times louder than usual, making the plates and spoons on the table rattle and the echo reverberate deafeningly through the stone walls. Everyone in the Great Hall turned to see who had received the shouting message. Ron huddled in his chair, only his bright red forehead visible.
“I received a letter from Dumbledore last night. Your father was almost driven mad by you! We raised you with so much care and effort, and you did something like this. You and Harry almost lost your lives!”
"...This is outrageous! Your father will be investigated at work, and it's all your fault. If you don't behave, we'll bring you back right now!"
The roar stopped, but the ringing in their ears persisted. The red envelope that had fallen from Ron's hand burst into flames, curling into ashes. Harry and Ron sat there, stunned, as if they had just been swept away by the tide. A few people chuckled, and voices gradually returned.
Hermione closed "Sailing with the Vampires" and looked down at Ron's head.
"Hmm, did you expect anything else, Ron? You know you—"
"Don't tell me I deserve it," Ron said angrily.
“Don’t worry about Ron,” Thierry said, patting Ron on the back. “Do you know anything that can cheer Mrs. Weasley up?”
“What?” Ron asked.
“This…” Tiera took out a stack of papers covered in writing from her wizard's robes and quietly placed them in front of Ron—
“What’s this?” Ron asked, then picked it up and looked at it—
“Notes!?” Ron exclaimed.
"Let me see!" Hermione snatched the paper from Ron's hand.
"Tierra!" Hermione suddenly called out, making Tierra think someone had opened another howling letter. "Wasn't this the one I sent you?"
"Why did you show it to Ron?" Hermione pressed.
“I think if Ron can get first place in this year’s final exams…” Tierra thought for a moment and changed her words, “If he can get into the top ten… perhaps Mrs. Weasley will forgive him.”
“Great idea, Tierra!” Ron exclaimed, but then deflated like a punctured balloon. “I’ll never be in the top ten of the grade—”
“Believe in yourself, Ron,” Tierra said.
“How about this, Hermione,” Tyella said slyly, “we’ll have a contest.”
"A competition?" Hermione asked, puzzled.
“I’ll tutor him in Dark Arts and Potions, and you’ll tutor him in Charms and Transfiguration. Let’s see who can help Ron get into the top ten in his grade,” Tierra said with a smile. “Whoever gets Ron the highest ranking wins—and the winner can make any reasonable request of the loser, how about it?”
From their previous eye contact, Tyella knew that Hermione still harbored some lingering feelings for him.
That makes sense, though; a teenage girl's first crush isn't so easy to let go of.
To prevent Hermione from relentlessly harassing him this semester, and to keep the attention of the three who were losing points focused on their studies, Tyella had no choice but to exploit the children's competitive nature and devise this scheme.
As for what happens if Hermione wins—
Please, with Ron's lousy wand, he'll only pass his Charms and Transfiguration classes this semester because of our teacher-student relationship—
Still want to get into the top ten?
Thank you Korsi for the 100 points!
Happy New Year everyone!
Also, the editor said that number one can be put on sale.
However, since I'm still in exam week, I can't update frequently for now. I'll wait until I finish my last exam on January 1.11th, and then update five times on January 1.12th... or maybe four times.
