Chapter 189 Professor R. J. Lupin
Chapter 189 Professor R. J. Lupin
“I need to speak with you privately,” Harry said to Tyella, Ron, and Hermione after the train started moving.
The four people walked along the corridor looking for an empty carriage, but all the carriages were full except for the last one.
There was only one person in the carriage, sitting by the window, fast asleep.
They stopped at the threshold—
The Hogwarts Express is usually used by students, who have never seen an adult here, except for the witch who pushes the food cart for them.
The stranger wore an extremely tattered wizard's robe, patched in several places. He looked sickly and exhausted. He appeared quite young, but his light brown hair was already streaked with gray.
“Who do you think he is?” Ron asked in a low voice.
They sat down and gently closed the door.
Ron and Hermione sat in the empty row, while Harry pulled Tyella and the strangers to sit in the same row.
They were all sitting far from the window.
“Professor R.J. Lupin,” Hermione whispered immediately.
"How did you know?" Ron asked in surprise. "How do you know everything?"
“It says so on his trunk,” Hermione replied, pointing to the overhead luggage rack above the man, where a worn-out little trunk was bound together with many ropes, neatly knotted. The words “Professor R.J. Lupin” were printed on a corner of the trunk, the letters already peeled off.
“Cough… Oh, okay,” Ron muttered. “I wonder what he teaches?”
However, Ron immediately regretted asking the question—
He noticed that the other three people were looking at him like he was an idiot.
Clearly, there is only one vacancy at Hogwarts.
"By the way, Harry, is there something you want to tell us?" Ron changed the subject.
Harry told them about the Weasleys' argument, the warning Mr. Weasley had just given him, and so on.
After Harry finished speaking, Ron looked as if he had been struck by lightning, while Hermione covered her mouth with both hands—
Unfortunately, there wasn't a beatbox segment.
It seemed that only Tiera remained as calm as ever.
Tyrell remained completely expressionless as Harry recounted the story; she even seemed about to laugh a little.
My grand treasury is coming soon.
“Tierra, what do you think?” Hermione asked.
“I think there’s something fishy about this,” Tierra said.
Harry, Hermione, Ron: ? ? ?
The Sleeping Lupin: ...
“That’s right,” Tierra explained. “I specifically checked Sirius’s escape date. The earliest report of his escape was on July 17th by the Daily Prophet. The Daily Prophet is published at 8:30 in the morning. To ensure the timeliness of the news, the Daily Prophet usually confirms the final version and starts printing at 11:00 the night before.”
“So Sirius must have escaped before 11 a.m. on July 16th,” Tyella analyzed in a seemingly serious manner. “And what’s amazing is that on the morning of July 15th, my father, Professor Dumbledore, and Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge had just visited Sirius Black.”
“Mysterious, isn’t it?” Tierra said.
“It’s quite mysterious…” Hermione said, feigning deep thought.
“So I don’t think Harry’s safety is a concern at all.” Tierra said, patting Harry on the shoulder. “Therefore, I believe that Sirius Black’s escape was orchestrated by Professor Dumbledore, spearheaded by Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge, and secretly investigated and followed by my father, who was trying to uncover some secret from Sirius Black.” “Otherwise, how could Sirius have escaped from Azkaban?” Tierra added. “So what we need to do is stay away from Sirius.”
After Tyella finished explaining, the other three little wizards seemed to calm down considerably.
They had some free time to start discussing their upcoming third-year life and the spring outing to Hogsmeade Village.
"Wouldn't it be wonderful to leave school for a little while and explore Hogsmeade?"
“I think so too,” Harry said somberly. “If you ever feel that way, be sure to tell me.”
“What do you mean by that?” Ron said.
“I can’t go. The Dursleys won’t let me sign that consent form, and Fudge won’t either,” Harry said.
“I’m not going either,” Tiera said as she organized her study notes in the memory palace.
"Why?" Harry asked, somewhat surprised and delighted.
“I forgot to get my foster father to sign it,” Tyrell made up an excuse. “By the time I remembered, he had already gone on a secret mission for Dumbledore.”
“Oh… okay,” Harry said with a slight upturn of his lips.
The Hogwarts Express steadily headed north, the scenery outside the window becoming increasingly wild and dark, while the clouds overhead grew thicker. Outside their carriage, people moved back and forth. Crookshanks now sat comfortably in an empty seat, its flattened face turned towards Ron, its yellow eyes fixed on Ron's pocket.
At one o'clock, the food truck thumped up in front of their carriage door.
“Do you think we should wake him up?” Ron asked awkwardly, glancing towards Professor Lupin. “He looks like he needs something to eat.”
“No need,” Tierra said. “He looks like he hasn’t had a rest in a long time. Let him get some sleep.”
Anyway, he has chocolate on him, Tierra thought.
After the lunch car passed, the train slowed down more and more. The sound of the wheels gradually faded.
The sound of wind and rain outside the window grew even louder.
Harry, being closest to the door, got up to check the situation in the corridor. People were peeking out from the various carriages along the corridor. Suddenly, the train jolted and stopped; a series of thuds and crashes came from afar, indicating that luggage had fallen from the overhead racks.
Then, all the lights suddenly went out, plunging them into complete darkness.
"What happened?" Ron's trembling, childlike voice came from behind Harry.
"Maybe Sirius Black is going to hijack the train," Tierra said, trying to scare them.
"Ah~?" Ron said again in a trembling, childlike voice.
Mmm...that feels so good. Ron's scared little voice sounds so comforting.
“Maybe Sirius will blow this train to smithereens just to kill Harry,” Tierra added.
"No~" Ron's little voice trembled even more.
"Come on!" Hermione slapped Tyella's knee. "Stop scaring Ron. Mr. Lockhart has been secretly investigating all along. How could he let Sirius Black attack the train?"
