Harry Potter and the Great Old Ones
Chapter 212 The Gate of Deep Sleep
Chapter 212 The Gate of Deep Sleep
Harry woke up in a hospital bed in the university hospital, surrounded by the Gryffindor Quidditch team members, all splattered with mud from head to toe. Ron and Hermione were there too, looking as if they had just crawled out of a swamp.
“Harry!” said Fred, who looked particularly white under the mud. “What do you think?”
Harry's memories seemed to rush back at lightning speed—
That lightning, that golden thief. That Dementor… and finally, that figure rushing from the stands in my last line of sight—
“Where…where is Tierra?” Harry asked, struggling to speak. “Where is Tierra?”
Ron, Hermione, and the other Quidditch teammates exchanged glances, then silently made way for each other.
Harry saw that Tyrell was lying on the hospital bed next to him.
"Tiera!?" Harry sat up abruptly, startling everyone else. "What happened to Tiera?!"
"Calm down! Calm down, Harry!" George and Fred pressed Harry back down.
“Tiera is just… just exhausted…” Hermione said sadly.
“Tierra… how could Tierra…” Harry asked again.
“He was the first to rush down when you were attacked by the Dementors,” Ron said. “He shielded you with his body, so… so the Dementors attacked Tiera first, and then…”
“Then thankfully, Headmaster Dumbledore arrived just in time,” Hermione said, her voice trembling. “Headmaster Dumbledore was really angry, I’ve never seen him so angry before. When the Dementors attacked you, Dumbledore practically flew onto the pitch, and then he waved his wand at them, shooting silver things at them and driving them away! He was furious about it, we heard him…”
“He told us to take you to the school hospital first…” George and Fred said, “and then we heard Headmaster Dumbledore… arguing with Minister Fudge.”
“They were making a lot of noise…” Hermione said, “We could hear them even if we were standing right outside the headmaster’s office.”
“Yes,” George Weasley said. “There were at least a hundred people gathered in the hallway on the eighth floor at the time.”
“Even the Aurors that Minister Fudge brought didn’t dare to go in,” Fred Weasley said. “Dumbledore is so cool.”
“And then…” Harry asked, “how was it resolved in the end?”
“Fudge wouldn’t budge either, and he and Professor Dumbledore started arguing,” Hermione said. “In the end, they each compromised, and Fudge reduced the number of Dementors to thirty.”
Harry glanced sideways at the sleeping Tyella, a pang of pain shooting through his heart—
“Don’t worry, Harry.” Hermione followed Harry’s gaze and looked over, her eyes filled with heartache. “Tiera will be alright. Madam Pomfrey said that Tiera is just exhausted and will recover after a good night’s sleep. Professor Dumbledore said that he will come to see you after he has finished dealing with matters with the Ministry of Magic.”
“Hmm…” Harry said quietly.
“Oh, right, the match,” Harry said. “What happened in the match?”
A sudden silence fell over the area; no one spoke.
“Diggory caught the Golden Snitch,” George said. “Right after you fell. He didn’t understand what happened. When he looked back and saw you on the ground, he was going to stop the match and try to replay it. But they won fairly and squarely, even Wood admitted that.”
“Where’s Wood?” Harry said, suddenly realizing Wood wasn’t there.
“He’s still getting soaked in the rain,” Fred said. “We think he’s planning to drown himself.”
"Alright, Harry, you used to always catch the Golden Snitch."
“There’s always going to be a slip-up eventually,” George said.
“The game isn’t over yet,” Fred said. “We’ve lost a hundred points, haven’t we? So, if Hufflepuff loses to Ravenclaw, and we beat Ravenclaw and Slytherin.”
“Hufflepuff will lose at least two hundred points,” George said. “But if they beat Ravenclaw…”
"No way, Ravenclaw is too good. But what if Slytherin loses to Hufflepuff..."
"It all depends on the score. No matter who wins or loses, it's a 100-point game." About ten minutes later, Madam Pomfrey came over and told the team members to let Harry rest. George, Fred, Hermione, and Ron had no choice but to leave.
“We…we’ll come see you again tomorrow,” Hermione said, glancing at Tyella before leaving and then sighing.
The entire school hospital seemed to fall silent all of a sudden.
Harry lay on his side, bored, and slowly drifted off to sleep again.
Meanwhile, in the land of dreams.
After receiving the blessings of Nash and Kara-Za, Peter Pettigrew passed through the Cave of Flames.
Behind the Flaming Cave is a row of stone steps that extend downwards into the darkness.
Tierra then guided Peter Pettigrew down seven hundred steps until they arrived at a massive doorway—
It was a giant door that seemed to be carved from cast iron.
The door was carved with a flock of strange, giant birds in flight and a huge, dimly lit human figure hidden behind them.
“The Gate of Deep Sleep…” Tiera murmured, reaching out to push open the gate, but at that moment—
The dimly lit figure carved into the door suddenly opened its eyes—
Startled, Tiera immediately withdrew her hand and retreated more than ten meters.
A pair of pale blue, jewel-like eyes appeared on the black giant gate.
The statues on the door came to life, with strange giant birds flying around the figure, and the tall, thin figure gradually enlarging on the door, as if walking towards him step by step.
“A salute to the great goalkeeper.” Tierra took a few more meters back, stopped, and bowed deeply.
The Dream Realm is the subconscious world protected by Nyarlathotep.
In other words, anything Tiera encounters here could be an incarnation of Nyarlathotep.
So Tiera was as polite as possible.
If Peter Pettigrew hadn't been so fat, Tierra would have knelt down right then and there.
"Hehehe—" The figure on the giant gate bent down, his jewel-like eyes looking at Tiera.
Loud laughter echoed throughout the space.
Tierra continued to bend over, head bowed, eyes fixed on her toes, and then said:
“Great gatekeeper, guardian of the abyss of dreams, undying shadow, Peter the Little Star salutes you,” Tiera said. “The devout traveler and the humble seeker of knowledge beg to enter the gate of deep slumber, beg to traverse the enchanted forest, beg to enter the dream realm sheltered by the great chaos.”
"Heh." The giant figure on the door chuckled sarcastically and said, "I was wondering when you would arrive."
Before Tierra could even figure out what those words meant—
"Squeak—" The giant door slowly opened behind it.
"Come in, you lying little mouse," said the giant shadow on the door.
