Harry Potter and the Great Old Ones

Chapter 226 Regulus's Story

Chapter 226 Regulus's Story

“That locket,” Sirius asked, “was that Voldemort asked my brother to keep it safe? What’s inside?”

"That's Master Regulus's locket!" Kreacher gasped for breath, his emaciated chest heaving. "Kreacher made a mistake; he failed to carry out the young master's orders!"

Then he let out a scream that brought tears to the eyes of all who heard it, but Tyella was still laughing.

The next second, Kreacher was about to slam his large head into the hard fireplace with extraordinary speed—

But with a gentle wave of her hand, Tiera sent Kreacher bouncing back as if he had hit a soft, transparent mattress. He stumbled and fell to the ground.

Kreacher tried to stand up again, but Tiera gently waved her hand, and Kreacher was pushed back to the ground.

"Enough, Kreacher, don't move!" Sirius roared. "I command you, don't move!"

Kreacher immediately stopped struggling and froze in place, while Tiera stopped using magic.

"Waaah...waaah..." But Kreacher started crying—

Tears and snot streamed from his eyes and long nose, and heartbreaking cries of despair escaped from his gray mouth filled with jagged teeth.

Tierra was already looking at him with a smile—

Tierra is in a great mood right now, so great that she feels like singing a song.

However, considering that it might be a bit inappropriate at the moment, Tiera suppressed the urge to hum a tune and simply smiled politely.

“Enough, Kreacher, stop crying! I command you! I command you to tell me everything you know, where this locket came from, and what my brother Regulus has to do with it!” Sirius roared.

Kreacher slowly stood up, head bowed. Although he had stopped crying, he was still sniffling, and scattered tears were still welling up from the corners of his eyes.

Tierra found a sofa to sit on and found a good angle to stare at Sirius Black—

So that I could observe his expression.

This is much more interesting than watching a movie.

“That was fifteen years ago. Unlike Sirius Black, who ran away from home, broke the rules, had no shame, and wallowed in self-pity, breaking the mistress's heart, Regulus was self-respecting, responsible, and well-mannered. He knew what the Black name and his pure blood meant. For many years, he often spoke of the Dark Lord, who wanted wizards to no longer have to hide, but to be able to come out and rule over Muggles and their descendants.” Kreacher sobbed. “When Regulus was sixteen, he joined the Dark Lord’s organization.”

"To become a Death Eater and be proud of it!" Sirius said dismissively. "Hmph, just like that fool. He has no idea what he's doing."

Sirius's expression at this moment was one of disdain.

“Young Master Regulus knew!” Kreacher argued angrily. “He was so proud, so honored, so happy, because he was able to serve…”

"Get to the point, Kreacher! I don't want to hear about how my idiot brother feels after becoming a Death Eater!" Sirius interrupted rudely, veins bulging on his forehead.

At this moment, Sirius's expression was one of impatience and shame—

She seemed ashamed of having such a younger brother.

Kreacher glanced fearfully at Sirius, his sobs seeming to grow louder, and continued:

“One year later, one day, Master Regulus came to visit Kreacher in the kitchen. Master Regulus had always liked Kreacher, and he hugged him, and then… he said… he said…”

"He said... the Dark Lord needs a house-elf."

"Voldemort needs a house-elf?" Sirius repeated.

His expression was one of confusion; he clearly couldn't understand why the Dark Lord wanted a house-elf.

“Oh…yes!” Kreacher said painfully. “Master Regulus has offered Kreacher up. It is an honor. Master Regulus said it was an honor for both him and Kreacher. Kreacher must do everything the Dark Lord wants him to do, and then go…home.”

Kreacher sobbed even faster, his sobs a mixture of sadness and fear.

"So Kreacher went to the Dark Lord, who did not tell him what to do, but instead led him to a cave by the sea. It was a large cave with a large black lake inside."

“There was a boat by the great lake, and the lake was full of corpses. On an island in the middle of the lake was a stone basin filled with a black potion. The Dark Lord made Kreacher drink it…” Kreacher’s voice trembled. “Kreacher drank it, and as he drank it, he saw many horrific sights. Kreacher’s internal organs were on fire. Kreacher cried out for Master Regulus to save him, and called out the name of his mistress, but the Dark Lord just laughed. He forced Kreacher to drink the potion. He threw a locket into the empty basin and then filled it with the potion!”

"And then?" Sirius Black asked nervously.

"Then, the Dark Lord boarded the ship and left, leaving Kreacher on the island."

“Kreacher remembers what happened. Kreacher needed water, so he climbed to the edge of the island to drink from the Black Lake. Many hands, dead hands, reached out from the water and dragged him in…” Kreacher said. “You… how did you escape?” Sirius asked in a low voice, unusually not yelling at Kreacher, his voice filled with fear.

fear--

That's the expression on Sirius's face right now.

Kreacher raised his ugly head, looked at Sirius with bloodshot eyes, and said in a trembling, tearful voice:
"Young Master Regulus said he wanted Kreacher to come home."

“Master Regulus said Kreacher had to come home.” Kreacher repeated, sobbing, “Kreacher has to come home, Kreacher… Waaah… Kreacher has to come home… Kreacher, Kreacher wants to see Master Regulus one last time… Waaah…”

"Bad Kreacher, bad, bad, bad!" Kreacher tried to bang his head against the fireplace again—

But Tyella gently stopped him with a wave of her hand.

“Kreacher should have died there! Kreacher should have died there! That way, that way… that way Master Regulus wouldn’t have died, sob…” Kreacher said, curled up on the ground, crying.

"So what happened after you came back?" Sirius demanded. "What did Regulus say when you told him what happened?"

“Master Regulus was very worried and very scared,” Kreacher said sadly. “Regulus told Kreacher to hide, to stay put, and not to leave the house. Then…then, after a while, one night…oh…in the night, Master Regulus came to the cupboard and found Kreacher. Master Regulus seemed strange, not like usual. Kreacher could tell he was very upset. The master asked Kreacher to take him to the cave, the same cave that Kreacher had gone to with the Dark Lord.”

“Regrus!” Sirius’s voice was cold and mocking as he asked with disgust, “He made you drink those potions again, didn’t he? He…”

Dislike

Sirius's expression now shows disgust.

“No…no…” Kreacher shook his head and said, “No…Master Regulus didn’t! Master Regulus is so kind and cares so much for Kreacher, he couldn’t bear to hurt Kreacher!”

"Young Master Regulus pulled a locket from his pocket, just like the Dark Lord's," Kreacher said, sobbing uncontrollably. "He told Kreacher to hold onto it, and Young Master Regulus ordered Kreacher to switch the locket with the stone basin once it dried out..."

"Young Master Regulus drank the potion from the food bowl himself! Young Master Regulus... Young Master Regulus!"

Kreacher collapsed to the ground and wept bitterly, his mournful cries echoing through the empty Black mansion.

Sirius, as if all his strength had been drained, slowly slumped to the ground.

Unspeakable pain, regret, sorrow, and trembling flowed down Sirius's tears.

He just sat there, motionless, as if he had become one with the desolate old Black mansion. The color of life gradually faded from Sirius Black's face, until—

“Snap, snap, snap—”

Tierra, sitting on the sofa, clapped politely, startling Sirius out of his grief.

“Hehe.” Tierra stood up with a laugh and said, “A wonderful story, and a very brave Regulus Black.”

Then Tiera waved her hand—

"Hmph, just like that fool's style, he has no idea..."

"Get to the point, Kreacher! I don't want to hear about my idiot brother..."

"He made you drink those potions again, didn't he? He..."

Tiera had recorded Sirius Black's every word, every action, and every expression, and now she was replaying them—
