Harry Potter and the Great Old Ones

Chapter 584 Quidditch Selection

Chapter 584 Quidditch Selection
About five minutes later they left the Gryffindor table and headed toward the Quidditch pitch, where they met Lavender Brown and Parvati Patil.

Harry remembered Hermione's words about the Patil sisters' parents wanting them to leave Hogwarts, so he wasn't surprised at all by the sad whispers between his two best friends.

To Harry's surprise, Parvati suddenly nudged Lavender as Ron passed by them. Lavender looked up, saw Ron, and gave him a big smile.

Ron looked at her in surprise, then smiled back at her with great uncertainty.

Then he immediately walked away, his steps very unnatural, somewhat like a crab swaying wildly.

Harry held back his laughter, remembering how Ron had restrained himself when Malfoy broke his nose last time.

Hermione watched coldly, not bothering to expose Ron's romantic escapades, and walked silently the whole way.

She walked through the light drizzle and found a place to sit down in a bleacher stand at the sports field.

Just as Harry had expected, the selection process took up the entire morning, with almost half of the Gryffindor students in attendance. Among them were first-years who nervously clung to the school's old brooms, and seventh-years who calmly soared into the sky; most were familiar faces, but there were also a few unfamiliar ones—

Afjegrunia, the short, black-haired boy from Durmstrang's trio who seized power.

Unsurprisingly, although the trio who seized power dared not openly form a small group because they shared a dormitory with Tiera, they did not miss any opportunity to build prestige and expand their network.

However, it is clear that compared to the gifted and ambitious Sergei Ivanov, Avdegrunia's social skills appear exceptionally naive and arrogant.

Most of the girls who approached him out of curiosity because of his status as an international student kept their distance after just a few words.

To make the selection process easier, Harry divided the Quidditch candidates into several groups—

The first group was naturally made up of first-year students. They were no match for the ball, because most of them had never flown before. Only one of them stayed in mid-air for a little while longer before crashing into the goal in terror.

If Hermione hadn't reacted quickly and used the Levitation Charm to gently lower the boy from mid-air, Harry's first Quidditch team selection would likely have turned into a serious accident.

The second group consisted of ten of the dumbest girls Harry had ever seen, who would just giggle and grab another one of them named Wen after Harry blew the whistle.

When he asked them to leave the field, they went happily to the stands to groom each other.

The third group of people collided when they were halfway around the field.

Most people in the fourth group did not have brooms.

The fifth group consisted almost entirely of Hufflepuff students.

“If there’s anyone here who isn’t a Gryffindor,” Harry roared, already getting angry, “get out of here right now!”

After a brief silence, the two Ravenclaw girls ran quickly out of the arena, laughing as they ran.

Two hours later, after countless complaints, several shouts, and the loss of Comet 160 and a few broken teeth, Harry finally found a few decent candidates—

Katie Bell returned to the team after a brilliant performance.

Rookie Robbins' technique for dodging the moving ball is excellent.

Then there's Ginny Weasley, who was flying throughout the entire selection process and scored seventeen goals.

And then there's Afjegrunia, the transfer student expelled from Durmstrang. Although Harry was a million times reluctant to let such a troublemaker join the Gryffindor Quidditch team, there was no way around it; he was indeed a very powerful hitter, fast, accurate, and incredibly ruthless…

Or rather, he was fearless and undaunted, as if he had a pent-up anger inside him.

Although Harry wasn't particularly satisfied with him, he had no choice but to accept it, given that there were really no other options.

Anyway, Tiera will definitely be able to handle it.

—That's what Harry was thinking.

……

Meanwhile, in the Chamber of Secrets in Slytherin, more than ten miles beneath Hogwarts Castle—

"Wonderful! Absolutely wonderful!" Horace Slughorn walked through the dry and brightly lit chamber that Tiera had magically transformed, looking left and right. He touched a few books that caught the summer heat, and then curiously touched the glass containers on the experimental table—

Seeing Tierra's smiling gaze, he abruptly withdrew his hand, then gave a slightly embarrassed smile.

“This is wonderful!” Horace Slughorn exclaimed again, his round, bulbous nose flushed red with excitement. “Where did you get so much good stuff?”

Nicholas Flamel's Alchemy Hut and Hogwarts' Room of Requirement
Tierra thought to herself, but said aloud, "Some of it came from Slytherin's Chamber of Secrets, some I purchased myself, and some was made by Slytherin and me."

“Slytherin?” Horace Slughorn paused, then realized who Tyella was talking about. “That old man with sunglasses? His real name is Slytherin?”

“If his real name isn’t Slytherin, then he is Slytherin,” Tierra said, then looked at Horace Slughorn with a puzzled expression.

“I thought you wanted to collect me because you’d read my and Harry’s biographies,” Tyella said. “The Chamber of Secrets in Slytherin, the Ravenclaw tiara, Voldemort’s Horcruxes—I remember those being written very clearly in the biographies.”

“Yes, I have seen it,” Horace Slughorn said, “but I thought it was all exaggerated and fabricated.”

"Some parts of the plot have indeed been artistically embellished."

"For example, summoning two of the three pillar gods, or cutting off my own arm," Tiera said quietly. "Even if I tell you the truth, you might not believe me."

“But most of it is true.” Tiera paused, as if hesitant, and said, “This was originally a secret of the Golden Book Conference, but I thought since you’d be joining the Golden Book Conference sooner or later anyway, it wouldn’t matter if a little was leaked in advance.”

"Wh-what?" Horace Slughorn asked expectantly yet hesitantly.

"Regarding the anchor points in the ascension ritual," Tiera smiled and continued, "besides being numerous, the anchor points must be sufficiently authentic; in other words, they must highly overlap with your own experiences."

"Anchor, anchor point?" Horace Slughorn asked, puzzled.

“Hehe.” Tiera chuckled. “We will explain the more specifics to you in detail after you officially join the council, or you are free to browse through the materials and records related to the ascension rituals within the Golden Book Council. Although the Golden Book Council was founded in the 1930s, initially as a loose organization to counter Mr. Gellert Grindelwald, its members have witnessed and promoted the ascension rituals of two individuals to date.”

“What? Two, two, two people?” Horace Slughorn almost screamed, looking at Tiera as if she were a monster. “Two gods?”

“Yes, both of you.” Tiera smiled mysteriously.

I'm so sorry, here's the long-awaited update.
