Chapter 769
"Alien blood?" Jeffrey Rocky stammered, then asked cautiously, "You mean the evil god you talked about in your lecture?"

“No,” Tierra said firmly.

"Evil gods come from gods?"

"Not at all."

"A follower of an evil god?"

“We’re getting closer, the lower-ranking servant race of the evil god,” Tiera said.

“A servant race?” Jeffrey Rocky was somewhat disappointed.

“The Deep Ones,” Tiera began to explain, “are a marine humanoid race with fish-like features and near-eternal lifespans. They worship their leader, the father god Dagon, and their mother goddess Hydra, and in doing so, they also worship the great Cthulhu. The Deep Ones have numerous cities in the oceans around the world, all submerged beneath the waves.”

“Deepborn can produce hybrid offspring with humans. Humans born with Deepborn blood may initially appear normal, but due to contact with their own kind or extreme stress, their appearance can rapidly change into the frog-like features characteristic of Deepborns, known as the ‘Innsmouth look.’ Over time, they gradually deviate from human form. The rate of change varies from person to person; some may remain unchanged throughout their lives. Once the transformation is complete, the hybrid will enter the water from bays or other bodies of water and join the Deepborn population. Due to their immortality, the descendants of Deepborn may be able to see their ancestors.” Tiera gave the blond, blue-eyed, handsome Jeffrey Rocky a sharp look.

Jeffrey Rocky felt uneasy under Tiera's scrutiny, and combined with what Tiera had just said, he instantly had a bad feeling: "You mean... I... I might turn into a frog head in the future?"

“It all depends on whether you accept the ‘Deep One’ bloodline within you,” Tiera continued. “At the onset of the transformation, the hybrid’s eyeballs gradually bulge out until the eyelids cannot close. The skin, gradually turning grayish-green, becomes wet and cold, and scales grow on its surface. Then, webbed fingers develop between the five fingers, and gills grow on the wrinkled back of the neck. The hybrid’s offspring look like ordinary humans in childhood, but become increasingly ugly as they age. Then, they will suddenly enter a transformation phase lasting two or three months, and thus become Deep Ones. The transformation phase generally occurs between the ages of 10 and 20, but some individuals transform earlier, while others only undergo partial transformation.”

“I, I, I, I…” Jeffrey Rocky listened to Tierra’s explanation, a sense of fear and unease rising within him. He knew he was a descendant of Deep Ones, but he had never known before, “I’ve never heard of such a hybrid descendant.”

Jeffrey Rocky's voice trembled slightly, "What should I do?"

“That’s why I’m standing here.” Tierra took a step forward, then turned to face Jeffrey Rocky. “Here, along this line.”

Tierra drew a line on the ground with her foot.

“If you accept immortality and can bear the price, then cross this line, because if you take another step forward, the thin Deepblood within you will be affected by the nearby Deepblood population and activated,” Tiera said. “This activation is irreversible, one of the gifts of the great Great Old Ones, and even I am powerless to change it.”
