Chapter 15 Beating Shi Feng
Chapter 15 Beating Shi Feng
After receiving the call, Gao Fuye immediately hung up and drove to the criminal investigation team.
Wang Zi's mother's first reaction upon hearing the news was to question him, which then turned into pleading. She insisted that her son couldn't possibly have committed murder, that there must be some mistake, or that he had been threatened into taking the blame.
Shi Feng didn't say much. He just needed to wait for the fingerprint comparison results of the garbage bag to come out. With Ai Liang as a witness, the evidence would be conclusive.
Whether they like it or not, the fact that Wang Zi is the murderer is undeniable.
Shi Feng arrived at the interrogation room where Ai Liang was resting. He brought Ai Liang along in order to break down Wang Zi's psychological defenses, but before he could even use this witness, Wang Zi confessed.
As long as Wang Zi doesn't go back on his word, Ai Liang won't have anything to do with it anymore.
Shi Feng opened the door and said, "He has confessed, so you can go back now."
Ai Liang was eating a steamed bun when she heard this and hummed in response.
"Come with me to the gym."
Xia Qinian gave a cold smile and put his arm around Shi Feng's shoulder.
Shi Feng wanted to scold Xia Qinian, but after seeing his expression, he swallowed his words. Unlike his usual playful demeanor, this time he was serious.
"Shi Feng and I have some things to discuss. If you can't wait, you can take a taxi home first."
After Xia Qinian finished speaking, he pulled Shi Feng away.
There was no one in the gym in the morning, which was perfect for Xia Qinian to practice.
Bang! Xia Qinian punched Shi Feng in the face.
Shi Feng was stunned for a moment, not yet realizing what was going on: "Are you crazy?!"
Xia Qinian didn't say anything, but threw another punch, making him stagger.
"Xia Qinian, what do you mean?!"
"Shi Feng, what the hell do you mean?!"
Xia Qinian's roar was deafening, making Shi Feng realize in an instant: "You went to my office?"
"Explain to me what it means that Xia Qiyuan died in the line of duty!"
Xia Qinian grabbed Shi Feng by the collar, pushed him to the ground, and punched him again, a trickle of blood seeping from the corner of Shi Feng's mouth.
Shi Feng broke free from Xia Qinian's hand, got up from the ground, wiped his mouth, and breathed heavily.
"Xia Qiyuan died in the line of duty! Where is his body? Where is the notification? Where is the funeral?! Say something!" Xia Qinian had clearly lost his mind, his eyes bloodshot.
Shi Feng glanced at Xia Qinian and said coldly, "I don't know."
"You don't know? Your name is on the dossier record, and you're telling me you don't know? Didn't you write that dossier?!" Xia Qinian, in his anger, didn't even bother to consider the meaning of Shi Feng's "I don't know," and continued to question Shi Feng.
"Even if I wrote it, so what?" Shi Feng had no choice but to feign cold-bloodedness and ask the brainless Xia Qinian, having no way to express his grievances.
"What exactly do you know! Tell me, is Xia Qiyuan alive or dead?!"
"Xia Qiyuan died in the line of duty, that's all I know."
Shi Feng was dazed by Xia Qinian's punches. He staggered to the gym entrance, left those words, and departed.
Seeing his nonchalant attitude, Xia Qinian wanted nothing more than to drag him back and beat him to death, but he held back because he still had a case to solve and could only vent his anger on the punching bag in the gym.
Shi Feng is a graduate of the police academy. Before he was twenty, he joined the criminal investigation team as the top student in the investigation department and was assigned to Xia Qiyuan's team. He and Xia Qinian have known each other for more than ten years. Although their personalities are very different, they are best friends. It is because of this friendship that he was able to tolerate Xia Qinian, an unofficial member, joining the criminal investigation team again and again.
"Is this brute really Teacher Xia's nephew?"
Shi Feng had long suspected this. Xia Qiyuan was a strategist and resourceful man, while his nephew Xia Qinian was a reckless man who would immediately resort to violence to solve everything.
Living with Xia Qiyuan, even a pig would become smarter after being influenced by him, but this guy somehow managed to develop six of his seven senses.
Shi Feng soaked some cold water in toilet paper and applied it to his face; Xia Qinian hadn't held back at all during those few blows.
Back in the office, the other detectives saw their captain with toilet paper on his face but none of them dared to come up and greet him. They had all seen Xia Qinian take Shi Feng to the gym, and now that Xia Qinian was gone and Shi Feng had toilet paper on his face, what had happened was self-evident.
Ai Liang was nowhere to be found in the interrogation room; Wang Xun said she had already left.
After keeping watch all night, they should have gone back to sleep by now.
Shi Feng thought to himself.
The fingerprint comparison results from the upstairs technical department also came back, confirming that Wang Zi's fingerprints were indeed found on the garbage bag, which made Shi Feng secretly breathe a sigh of relief.
"Where is Captain Shi? I need to see that beast!"
Shi Feng had barely sat down when he heard some commotion outside. He sighed and opened the office door.
In the office area, Gao Fuye was being held tightly by several criminal police officers.
"Mr. Gao, the murderer has been detained. You should go back now."
One of the criminal police officers who was pulling Gao Fuye said to him.
"Which beast killed my daughter?!"
Gao Fuye ignored all of this and kept trying to see the murderer.
When Shi Feng arrived at the scene, he said to Gao Fuye, "Mr. Gao, I'm informing you that the murderer has been found, not to ask you to come and see him, but simply to inform you of our work progress. Please tell those self-media outlets you invited to leave. If you have anything to say to the murderer, please save it for the courtroom. The victim's family is prohibited from meeting with the suspect."
After saying that, he forcibly asked Gao Fuye to leave.
As the saying goes, one wave subsides only for another to rise. Not long after Gao Fuye left, Wang Zi's parents arrived at the criminal investigation team.
Unlike Gao Fuye, Wang Zi's father seemed to know some people in the team and was subtly inquiring about the situation, while Wang Zi's mother was anxiously wiping away tears.
"Hello Captain Shi, I am Wang Qiang, Wang Zi's father. My son is..." Following the instructions of the criminal police officer, Wang Qiang came to Shi Feng, bowing and scraping and forcing a smile.
“There must be some mistake. How could my introverted son be a murderer!” Wang Zi’s mother recognized Shi Feng as the man who took Wang Zi away this morning and hurriedly grabbed his arm.
Wang Qiang's face immediately darkened. This woman, in her agitation, spoke without thinking. She was the captain of the criminal investigation team, not some ordinary student's parent she'd just met; she was quick to accuse others of being wrong.
Seeing Shi Feng coldly shake off his wife's hand, Wang Qiang immediately apologized: "I'm sorry, Captain Shi, he's just a woman, don't take it to heart. Can I go see my son first?"
"You may see him alone if someone accompanies you, but you are prohibited from approaching the isolation window and from exchanging any words or gestures." Shi Feng squinted, his eyes sharp and piercing, a stark contrast to his amiable demeanor when he visited Wang Zi's house that morning.
"Then I..." Wang Qiang's eyes darted around as if searching for the accompanying criminal police officer.
"No need to look anymore, Gao Bin." Just as Gao Bin came downstairs to hand over the documents, Shi Feng let this guy who liked to slack off take over the job. "You go and keep them company."
"Yes, Captain Shi." Gao Bin maintained a stern and expressionless demeanor in front of outsiders.
"Then I'll have to trouble Officer Gao." Wang Qiang's smile was somewhat forced.
Shi Feng looked at Wang Qiang's back with a scrutinizing gaze, and then he went up to the criminal police officer that Wang Qiang had initially approached.
"Do you know that Wang Qiang?"
The criminal police officer being questioned by Shi Feng immediately stood up: "I know him. He used to be a traffic policeman, but he resigned three years ago after being involved in a car accident case."
Shi Feng stared at his face and asked, "How did you resign?"
"A hit-and-run accident occurred that night, and the victim died on the spot. Wang Qiang was fired because he failed to report the damage to the surveillance hard drive."
"Okay, it's nothing, go ahead and do your thing."
Shi Feng gave a single instruction and then left.
Hit-and-run cases are not under their jurisdiction, nor can they handle them. He just thought Wang Qiang was a bit suspicious and came to ask him about it.
Shi Feng immediately realized that Wang Qiang wanted to have someone he knew accompany him so that he and his child could say some inappropriate things, but the regulations stipulate that criminal suspects can only see lawyers.
The reason Gao Bin was brought along was to prevent collusion, since many parents would use the time of their visits to teach their children how to get away with their crimes, even though Wang Zi inside could not see the view outside the window or hear the sounds outside.
Monday arrived quickly, and news of Gao Jiajia's case had spread throughout the school, with the real culprit being caught spreading rapidly.
Wang Zi's classmates were particularly excited. Recently, many people had been asking them about Wang Zi. People who were not familiar with Wang Zi before quickly became the focus of attention because of his identity as the murderer's classmate. Wherever they went, people asked about Wang Zi.
Wang Zi became the topic of conversation he had been dreaming of, even though the topic wasn't very friendly.
The crowd was heading to the school playground; today was the day for a meeting of all teachers and students.
It served as a pre-exam pep rally, a memorial service for Gao Jiajia, and a safety education lecture.
The school went to great lengths to mitigate the impact of this incident, inviting psychology and law experts overnight to conduct science lectures and promote safety education.
Regardless of whether it's useful or not, at least the school has to show others.
"Wow, Sister Hua was right, Wang Zi really is the murderer." Fang Xiaoxiao said sullenly. "It's a good thing he's been arrested. Just thinking about having to be in the same classroom as someone like that scares me, especially since Wang Zi was even pretending to cry, and he was crying so convincingly."
Fang Xiaoxiao felt a chill run down her spine at the thought.
"He wasn't crying because the people he harmed had lost their lives, but because he was worried about his own potential capture," Ai Liang added at the opportune moment.
"I don't know why everyone in the class is so excited about being in the same class as someone like this." Fang Xiaoxiao looked at the group of people talking loudly and shrank closer to Ma Yu.
Ma Yu patted her head and comforted her, "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid."
Yue Qihua smiled as she looked at the people who were discussing so enthusiastically: "Because they don't usually experience this sense of superiority of being the center of attention."
Yang Xingyue gently tugged at Yue Qihua's sleeve: "Huahua, keep your voice down, it wouldn't be good if someone heard us."
"Anyway, we won't have any contact with these people after graduation, so why bother?"
Yue Qihua, with a lollipop in her mouth, said nonchalantly.
Ma Yu gently pinched his girlfriend's cheek and asked Ai Liang, "Alright, alright, let's not talk about that. Ai, have you prepared your speech? You'll be giving the speech again this time, right?"
Ai Liang, with a novel tucked between her fingers, said calmly, "No."
"Huh? Didn't the teacher tell you?" Yang Xingyue asked, a little worried.
"There was no student presentation at this conference."
Ai Liang remained indifferent.
"There's none?"
Yang Xingyue breathed a sigh of relief for Ai Liang and then felt at ease.
"Of course, don't forget that the school invited two experts to give a safety education lecture this time. Since there wasn't enough time, the student representative's speech was naturally cut."
Yue Qihua bit into a lollipop, the stick bobbing up and down with the trembling of her lips.
“Xiao Ai always gives a speech on these kinds of occasions,” Ma Yu said with a slightly regretful tone. “Your attendance record was interrupted on the last day. How do you feel about that?”
Ai Liang sat down on the plastic track with her legs bent and her knees tucked in.
The rows were arranged in two columns, one for boys and one for girls. Whether it was Ai Liang and Ma Yu or Yue Qihua and Yang Xingyue, all four of them were relatively tall compared to the other two, so they sat together.
As for Fang Xiaoxiao, she was in a worse situation. Every time there was a big meeting, she sat in the front row. Not only did she have to endure the stern gaze of the school leaders on the stage, but she also had no shade to block out the sun when it rose. At this moment, she was looking over here with teary eyes, and she was very envious of the people sitting in the back row who could play on their phones and read novels.
As the school song ended, the principal stood up from his seat.
Regarding what has recently happened at our school
As soon as the principal spoke, Yue Qihua picked up her phone and opened the game interface: "Xingyue, are you coming or not?"
Yang Xingyue smiled helplessly: "Huahua, the man on stage is still your uncle."
"Didn't you listen to him a lot when you were little? If you want to listen, wait until the New Year to listen properly, but don't hide in my room then." Yue Qihua entered the game somewhat impatiently.
Of all her relatives, the one she disliked dealing with the most was her eldest uncle. Every year at the annual party, he would drag her grandfather into discussing her future prospects, which was incredibly annoying.
"It's all because of your personality, Hua Hua."
Yang Xingyue pouted and said, "Ai Liang, do you want to play?"
Ai Liang waved the novel in her hand.
"Then I won't play either." Yang Xingyue immediately quit the game as soon as she opened it, and also took out a small booklet to start studying.
"Here I am, Sister Hua, take me with you."
Of the three, only Ma Yu excitedly pulled out his phone: "Xiao Xiao... never mind, she doesn't look like she can play."
"It's no fun with so few people, I'm not playing anymore." Yue Qihua lost interest as soon as she saw that only Ma Yu was playing.
"You guys are fine with this, I'll go play by myself."
Ma Yu was originally planning to play a couple of games, but since his carry player was gone, he had to start the miserable solo queue game alone.
