Chapter 79 Super Sense

Chapter 79 Super Sense
The police officers led the two men to the door of the interrogation room.

"Uh, Mr. He... Advisor, they're still in the interrogation room. This is last night's transcript." The police officer handed over the notebook.

"Yes, thank you for your hard work." Xia Qiyuan thanked the police officer after accepting the package.

After he walked away, Xia Qiyuan focused his gaze on Gao Bin.

"What are you looking at? I'm still recovering from my injury," Gao Bin retorted.

"I'll leave the rest to you." Xia Qiyuan said, unconcerned by Gao Bin's attitude, and then pushed open the door and entered.

Standing at the door, Gao Bin's face twitched incessantly, as if he were wearing a mask of pain. In the end, he picked up the sesame seed cake, gritted his teeth, and followed Xia Qiyuan.

“I know you’re in pain too, but this involves members of the Apostles, otherwise I wouldn’t have asked you to come here.”

Xia Qiyuan's words did not have much effect; Gao Bin still looked utterly hopeless.

Seeing that talking to them wasn't working, Xia Qiyuan stopped wasting time and pushed open the interrogation room door to wake the two migrant workers.

"Have you had breakfast? Do you provide meals here, officer?"

The boy was the first to wake up; his stomach rumbled as soon as he smelled the aroma of the sesame seed cakes.

Working on a construction site definitely requires a lot of food; after a whole night of tossing and turning, his stomach was already rumbling with hunger.

The boy had just woken up and was speaking without thinking. After smelling the fragrance, he blurted out his thoughts without a second thought.

Seeing a corpse and still having such a good appetite, this guy really has a big heart.

"Well, I guess you didn't eat anything, so you brought two sesame seed cakes, one for each of you."

Xia Qiyuan handed the bag from Gao Bin's hand with a friendly smile.

"Thank you, officer... I'm getting up to eat."

The young senior was jolted awake from his dream by the push. He instinctively kicked his leg and breathed a sigh of relief when he realized he was still in the interrogation room.

The young man glanced furtively at the unfamiliar policeman who had appeared before him, and the blond-haired man behind him.

'Are they bringing a criminal suspect here for us to identify? When did the police in Chihaya City become so efficient?'

The young man, munching on a sesame seed cake, stared intently at Gao Bin, thinking to himself.

After they had almost finished eating.

Xia Qiyuan then said, "We asked everything we needed to ask yesterday. Today we're just checking to make sure we didn't miss anything. After all, people tend to overlook details when they're nervous, and they'll remember more the next day. I hope you can understand."

“I understand, I understand,” the boy immediately agreed.

He suddenly realized halfway through his sentence: "Aren't we supposed to identify the murderer?"

After the boy finished speaking, he specifically pointed at Gao Bin.

'You little brat, you want a beating, don't you?'

Gao Bin thought angrily, he was so angry that he decided to give the boy a flick on the head.

But Xia Qiyuan suddenly turned his head to look at him.

...Gao Bin used his raised hand to smooth his golden hair.

'I'm a grown man; I won't stoop to the level of a little brat.'

Gao Bin thought to himself.

People tend to let their guard down when dealing with various physiological needs, such as eating.

Xia Qiyuan successfully eased the tension between the two by using two sesame seed cakes.

"Then let's get started."

Xia Qiyuan made a gesture, and Gao Bin, who was sitting next to him, immediately changed back to his usual stern expression. He took a deep breath and began to turn the ring on his right middle finger.

A sharp, stabbing pain shot from the base of my finger to my brain.

The young migrant worker opposite him began to stare blankly, his body motionless. The boy was a little slower than him, but soon he also fell into a blank state.

At this moment, Gao Bin's consciousness had entered extrasensory mode. He directly entered the brains of the two people and used their memories as a medium to watch the events of last night from a third-person perspective.

The workday ended at the construction site, leaving two people to keep watch.

In this immersive mode, Gao Bin felt as if he had truly arrived at the scene, as if it were a virtual reality constructed from the memories of the two of them.

However, the size of this virtual world is only the area they have seen.

People subconsciously block out useless memories, and Gao Bin is now using this method to find clues that they themselves can't recall.

If you leave the place they have seen, there is only darkness, or distant memories from who-knows-when.

They might still be on the construction site at this moment, but after taking a few steps out of their sight, they will arrive at their rural hometown from more than ten years ago.

Furthermore, memories outside of sight are frozen in time, without the passage of time.

For example, if someone throws an aluminum can into a trash can, and the person remembers it looks away from the trash can halfway through the process.

From Gao Bin's perspective, the image of the aluminum can would remain at the moment the memory's owner looked away.

Even if the person who remembers later hears the sound of an aluminum can going into a trash can, they won't automatically conjure up the corresponding image in their mind.

Because he didn't see it with his own eyes, he wouldn't have any related memories in his extrasensory perception.

This mode differs from memory reading, which can only view memories existing in the brain of the person being read, and cannot determine whether these memories have been modified.

The extrasensory mode is somewhat similar to a combination of psychic medium and memory reading. Gao Bin can use this mode to revisit past events through a medium.

For example, by using extrasensory perception on a wood carving, one can "see" how it was felled, processed, and then transported to the sculptor to be made into a wood carving.

This is an irreversible fact that has already happened.

However, Gao Bin is not very proficient in using it, so he still needs to use memory reading to assist him.

Of course, the cost of using this ability is very high, and its upper limit is not very high, otherwise Gao Bin could directly become a great library recording the history of the universe.

Incidentally, this ability is not due to any supernatural phenomenon, but rather Gao Bin's innate talent.

This is also the main reason why he likes to slack off but has never been fired... He's just blessed with good looks.

Gao Bin sat on the stone pier from their memories, his mind bombarded by a jumble of information.

The two had been chatting since they started their night watch, occasionally glancing at the construction site gate.

Gao Bin was watching his surroundings intently when he accelerated.

The surrounding scenery was moving at a rapid pace, like watching a movie on fast-forward.

Suddenly a sound came from the building. The two first looked up in the direction of the sound, then turned back to look at the digital clock.

Gao Bin fixed his memory.

The explosion occurred at 10:43 PM.

During yesterday's interrogation, they couldn't remember the exact time at all, and could only say it was about five minutes based on their intuition.

Without professional training, it is difficult for people to accurately control the passage of time.

After confirming the time, Gao Bin followed the two men toward the unfinished building.

Gao Bin began to count silently; around 10:45, flames were seen coming from the building.

This information gave him a jolt; just this intelligence alone made the trip worthwhile.

He then stared at the two more intently, but in the pitch-black building, he couldn't get any useful information.

At most, I would just stare at the spot illuminated by the flashlight and pause to try and remember it.

Everything was normal, and what happened next was exactly the same as yesterday. The super-sensory mode ended.

After exiting the super-sensory mode, Gao Bin shook his dizzy head, took out a small bottle of gummy candies from his pocket, poured one out and put it in his mouth.

The main ingredient of the gummies is a certain synthetic enzyme that can alleviate Gao Bin's aftereffects of supersensory perception; they were developed specifically for him.

Xia Qiyuan saw that Gao Bin had finished his super-sensory experience and knew it was his turn to step in.

He pulled out a spray bottle and sprayed it on their faces, saying, "Another policeman came this morning and questioned you again about last night. You answered as usual; nothing unusual happened."

"They asked a few simple questions, the same as yesterday, and then left. You felt very sleepy, but they didn't say you could leave, so you decided to sleep a little longer here."

Xia Qiyuan closed their eyes and gently laid them down on the sofa.

"Alright, let's get back in the car."
