Chapter 1902 There Will Be an Opportunity
Chen Feng got up in the morning, ran a few laps around the yard, and then, covered in sweat, jumped into the swimming pool in the backyard. He swam back and forth in the cool water several times until his whole body felt relaxed and flexible before ending his morning exercise.
Because of her physical condition, Brina didn't run or swim with Chen Feng this morning. She stayed at the gym with Molly, and Luna was also there. Chen Feng simply didn't go to the gym.
However, it was clear that there was no conflict between the three of them, which made Chen Feng quite relieved. Otherwise, he might have really used this as an excuse to give them a good scolding.
The women back home were already giving him enough headaches, and he didn't want these three foreign women to give him even more headaches after he came abroad.
Chen Feng ate breakfast prepared by Mrs. Moses, a simple American breakfast: bread, milk, fried eggs, and bacon.
Chen Feng initially thought this meal would taste similar to what he had eaten before. However, after taking a bite, he found it to be even tastier than the bread, milk, fried eggs, and bacon he had eaten before. Curious, he asked why.
Mrs. Mercer smiled confidently and said that she had made the bread herself and prepared the milk herself, using a brand she had been drinking for decades, unlike the common brands on the market. Frying eggs, of course, also required skill in controlling the heat and cooking techniques, as well as careful selection of oil. This time, she used extra virgin olive oil from Italy. This kind of oil is hard to find in the market, but she happened to have some at home and had simply brought it with her.
Mrs. Mercer made the bacon herself, so it definitely tasted better than the store-bought kind. Chen Feng, Brina, and Molly all raved about the breakfast.
As for Eliza, although she moved in yesterday afternoon, she's not very familiar with the surroundings yet. Therefore, despite going out early this morning to buy some groceries, her breakfast is clearly not as good as Mrs. Mercer's for now.
In the end, only Luna graciously ate the breakfast she made. Aside from the two security guards and two bodyguards, everyone else ate Mrs. Mercer's breakfast, and clearly everyone was satisfied with her cooking, giving it unanimous praise. In this first breakfast contest between the two live-in maids, Mrs. Mercer undoubtedly had the upper hand and emerged victorious.
But in reality, Mrs. Mercer didn't have any particular intentions; she didn't deliberately target Eliza. Chen Feng was quite pleased with this, otherwise, it would have been a bit excessive if the two live-in nannies were scheming against each other.
After breakfast, Brina was the first to leave. She was going to meet with Zhang Zhiqiang and Kang Man to sign an asset transfer agreement, transferring all of Kang Man's assets to Brina's name. Her father, Frank, could help with this; as a professional lawyer, he was very adept at handling these procedures.
Luna was next to leave. She was practically fawned over by everyone in the company, including her boss. Even if she arrived a little late, it wouldn't really matter, but she was still quite tactful and didn't get arrogant because of it. She always arrived before 9:00 AM, and since she had a short commercial shoot to do that day, she wanted to get to the company early to meet her agent. So, she left for work around 8:10 AM.
Molly, who remained behind, felt a surge of joy upon seeing that Brina and Luna had left. She immediately wanted to drag Chen Feng out shopping, but he flatly refused, giving a simple reason: he didn't want to move. This disappointed Molly; it had been a long time since she'd gone shopping or on a date with Chen Feng alone.
Molly had no choice but to settle for second best, trying to persuade Chen Feng to go to her family's small home theater. It had a vast film library, all of which were legally purchased. But Chen Feng had no interest in any of that and declined again.
This made Molly even more annoyed, and she couldn't help but ask loudly, "Can't you just stay with me?"
Chen Feng shook his head seriously and said, "I have something to do." As he spoke, he waved the phone in his hand at Molly, "I'm going back to my room first. I have a lot of messages that I need to reply to. If you're really bored, you can watch TV, or go to the small cinema over there by yourself. If that doesn't work, you can go swimming, or you can ask a friend to go shopping with you. I have another appointment for lunch, so I won't be staying at home."
After saying that, Chen Feng went straight upstairs, quickly returned to his room, and locked the door. He didn't really have anything important to do at the moment; he was just getting annoyed by Molly's nagging, so he figured he might as well stay in his room and quietly read some online novels.
Molly stomped her foot in anger, but she really couldn't do anything about Chen Feng. After thinking to herself for a while, she picked up her phone, found a number, and dialed it directly.
The call connected quickly. Molly put on a cheerful tone and said, "Hi, Grace, it's been a while. I happen to be in Los Angeles right now. Are you free? Let's meet up for coffee?"
Grace on the other end immediately responded happily, "Molly, you're in Los Angeles? It's been so long! I'm so glad to see you again. Where are you? I'll come pick you up right now."
Molly then said, "I'm at my friend's house right now, also in Beverly Hills, at 128 XX Avenue."
“Wow, your friend owns this villa? That’s amazing. I know this villa; it’s one of the most luxurious villas in Beverly Hills,” Grace said with some amazement on the phone.
Hearing Grace say this, Molly was quite pleased and said with a somewhat reserved tone, "Yes, this villa belongs to my friend. He just bought it not long ago and then invited me to come and stay. I remembered that you also live in Beverly Hills, which shouldn't be too far, so I thought I'd like to meet up with you, have a cup of coffee together, and maybe even go shopping together."
Grace exclaimed happily, “That’s wonderful! I was just thinking of going to Sunset Boulevard, and all I needed was company. Your call is perfect. I’ll drive over to pick you up right now, and then we can go shopping together, and then have coffee. If you have time, we can have lunch together. I know a really good Italian restaurant.”
“OK, no problem, I have a whole day. Come pick me up now,” Molly readily agreed.
"Okay, I'll head out to pick you up right away. I'll be there in fifteen minutes at most."
About ten minutes later, a red Ferrari pulled up and came to a smooth stop in front of the large villa at No. 128, XX Avenue. Grace picked up her phone and called Molly: "Honey, I'm here, right in front of No. 128."
“Okay, I’ll be right out.” Molly had actually been waiting. She deliberately didn’t wait at the main gate of the villa, wanting Grace to see her emerge from this luxurious mansion. Two or three minutes later, Molly finally came out from a small door next to the main gate. Grace wasn’t surprised to see Molly coming out of the villa and happily got out of the driver’s seat. She ran over to Molly, hugged her, and kissed her cheek affectionately for a while. Both of them laughed happily; they hadn’t seen each other for more than half a year.
Actually, their relationship wasn't particularly close. They met at a charity gala in New York two or three years ago. They shared a drink and chatted, finding it quite pleasant, and exchanged contact information. They kept in touch intermittently afterward. Once, when Molly visited Los Angeles, she contacted him, and he warmly welcomed her, spending two or three days with her, treating her to meals, and almost inviting her to stay at his home, but Molly declined.
Another time, when Grace went to New York, Molly reciprocated by hosting her. Through these interactions, their relationship became quite familiar. However, their last meeting was actually more than half a year ago, so their relationship couldn't really be described as extremely close.
However, the two are genuinely happy to be reunited after so long, mainly because their personalities are quite compatible and they enjoy each other's company. Of course, this may be related to Molly's background as the heiress of the Lampson family, because although Grace is also wealthy, her family background is nowhere near that of Molly.
Furthermore, Grace has now practically stepped into Hollywood, playing supporting roles in several films and television series, but she's not particularly famous. However, it wouldn't be accurate to say she has no fame at all. At twenty-five years old, she has already appeared in over a dozen films and television series, including several Hollywood movies. She just hasn't truly become a star yet, but any seasoned film buff will likely recognize her as a beautiful actress.
"I'm so happy to see you again," Grace said with a smile, hugging her for a while before letting go.
Molly smiled and said, "Me too, I'm so happy to see you again. Let's go shopping first, then have coffee, and you can treat me to authentic Italian food for lunch."
“OK, let’s go right away,” Grace replied enthusiastically. But just as they were about to get into the car, she suddenly asked, “Is your friend free today? If he is, why don’t you invite him along, and we can all go together?”
Molly shrugged, feigning helplessness, and said, "It's precisely because he's busy today that I had no choice but to ask you to come out. I hope I didn't bother you?"
“How could that be?” Grace quickly said. “I already told you on the phone that I’m very free today and quite bored. Your call is just in time. Come on, since your friend is busy, I’ll keep you company. I promise you’ll have a great time.”
“Okay.” Molly agreed, and the two of them got into the bright red convertible.
Grace quickly started the sports car and drove towards Sunset Boulevard. As she drove, she casually asked, "I think I've heard of the owner of this villa; he's a very powerful financial tycoon. Is he your friend?"
Molly smiled, shook her head, and said, "No. You're probably referring to the previous owner. Now, the owner of this villa is my friend. He's from China and is an Asian man."
"How is this possible?" Grace's face showed surprise, and the car wobbled slightly as she almost slammed on the brakes. Fortunately, she quickly regained her grip on the steering wheel. A little embarrassed, she quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, what you just said is truly shocking. You should know that this villa is currently worth at least 150 million US dollars. It's really amazing that your friend from the East could afford to buy it. Besides, as far as I know, the previous owner of this villa wasn't short of money; there's no reason for him to sell it to your friend, is there?"
Molly appreciated the other person's surprised and astonished expression. Although she had been startled when the car shook earlier, she didn't mind now.
Molly said calmly, "I don't know what happened between them. But I'm pretty sure this villa now belongs to my friend. My friend said it was a gift from the previous owner. I don't know if that's true or not, but I think it's probably true."
Grace fell silent for a moment before finally speaking, "Molly, could you introduce your friend to me?"
A smug smile crept onto Molly's lips. She hesitated deliberately for a moment before saying, "That depends on the opportunity. If the opportunity is right, I'll introduce you to him."
Grace immediately replied, "Okay, then I'll take that as a yes. I believe there will be opportunities."
Molly nodded and said with a smile, "I also think there will be a chance."
……
Chen Feng stayed alone in the room, quietly reading an online novel, finally undisturbed. A little over an hour later, Zhang Zhiqiang sent him a message informing him that all of Kang Man's assets had been transferred through signed agreements and successfully transferred to Brina's name.
Chen Feng then replied to Zhang Zhiqiang, saying that he could only arrange Kang Man's wife's treatment this afternoon, and he would inform him of the specific time later. Chen Feng had originally planned to go after breakfast, but considering he had an appointment with Emma at noon, he had to postpone the treatment until this afternoon. He wasn't sure about the exact time; it depended on how long he could stay with Emma.
Zhang Zhiqiang naturally had no objections and immediately agreed. He then relayed the message to Kang Man, who had barely slept the previous night. Upon hearing that his wife's treatment wouldn't be available until the afternoon, Kang Man was naturally quite angry. After all, he had already handed over so many assets, and even though he nominally owed Chen Feng fifty million US dollars, he felt that Chen Feng's actions were somewhat disrespectful to him and his wife.
Although he was somewhat annoyed, he dared not truly lash out. He dared not retaliate against Chen Feng, nor against Zhang Zhiqiang, the middleman. He could only plead, "Tom, please, please make sure Mr. Chen comes as soon as possible to treat my wife. Although she's been given painkillers, her condition is still very bad; she's in a lot of pain. And you know how strong the side effects of painkillers are. I don't want her to recover from her illness only to suffer from the side effects of the medication. So, please, please make sure Mr. Chen comes as soon as possible. My wife and I are in so much pain right now, please."
Zhang Zhiqiang actually felt some sympathy for him, but he obviously couldn't make the decision for Chen Feng. He just felt that Chen Feng's willingness to let the other party owe part of the treatment fee was already very generous and kind. Besides, Chen Feng hadn't said he wouldn't treat the other party's wife; he just had some urgent business to attend to and had delayed until the afternoon. Kang Man's constant urging did seem a bit excessive to him.
So, Zhang Zhiqiang said somewhat curtly, "I hope you understand that Mr. Chen made an exception for your wife this time. Remember, you still owe him a large sum of money." (End of Chapter)
