Chapter 1708 The Darkness of the Torrent of Rain

Chapter 1708 The Darkness of the Torrent of Rain (Mist)
The first card in his hand was "Hand Erasure," and Amon sent all five of his remaining cards to the graveyard, saying, "Under the effect of [Hand Erasure], both players discard all their cards and draw cards from their decks equal to the number of cards they discarded."

"Using this kind of card right off the bat, are you stuck with a bad hand?" Manjoume sneered. "Well, since both of us discard five cards, we can both draw five cards."

"But after that, the effects of cards in my graveyard will be activated."

Two cards were projected from the graveyard and shown to Amon. Manjou said, "The effects of [Kodomo Dragon] and [Eclipse Wyvern] are activated when they are sent to the graveyard."

"First is the effect of [Kodomo Dragon], which Special Summons a Dragon-Type monster from my hand. As a trade-off, I cannot enter the Battle Phase or Special Summon non-Dragon-Type monsters this turn, but this kind of side effect is practically negligible."

"And the effect of [Eclipse Wyvern]: banish one LIGHT/DARK Dragon monster of Level 7 or higher from my Deck."

In the graveyard of Manjō-moku, a light shone, about to trigger a chain effect, but at the same time, a card flew out from the graveyard of Amon Garlem.

"If 【Swift Anglerfish】 is sent from my hand or Deck to the Graveyard, Special Summon up to two monsters from my Deck that are Level 3 or lower and have 【Swift】 in their name, other than 【Swift Anglerfish】."

A stream of water spewed from the mouth of a monster resembling a lanternfish, transforming into two phantom fish on Amon's field. After all, it was Amon who initiated the "Hand Elimination" effect, and it wasn't just Manjoume who had cards that could activate effects in the graveyard.

C1 [Swift Anglerfish] C2 [Kodomo Dragon] C3 [Eclipse Wyvern], the first card to take effect is Manjoume's card. He wasn't too surprised by Amon's response, and simply continued with his operation, taking out a card from his deck and showing it: "Then, the card I'm going to banish is this one, the Level 8 [Dragon of Darkness and Annihilation]."

"This banished [Dragon of Darkness and Annihilation] will be added to my hand if [Eclipse Wyvern] in my graveyard is banished."

After explaining, Manjoume began to deal with the effect of [Kodomo Dragon], playing one of the five cards he had just drawn from his hand. "Under the effect of [Kodomo Dragon], I can Special Summon any Dragon-Type monster in my hand, and among the five cards I just drew, there just happens to be one suitable monster—that is this [Awakening Dragon - Baby Hellfire God]!"

The fact that its attack and defense are both 0 points on its data panel shows that [Awakening Dragon - Young Hellfire God] obviously has a good effect, but before it activates its effect, the card effects on Amon's side have not been dealt with.

Amon took two cards from his deck and placed them horizontally on the Duel Disk. The two fish phantoms formed by water currents on his field solidified. Amon Garrum calmly, even somewhat expressionlessly, said, "I Special Summon the monsters 'Swift Sunfish' and 'Swift Manta Ray' from my deck in Defense Position."

I thought Amon would come out with a [Hand Elimination], and maybe he would play some super complicated combo like "Spearman throws Ancient Guardian, then beats me into a slushie". But it turns out that Amon has only put two small monsters on the field. Manjou wondered if his casual remark about "hand clog" was really true.
The characteristic of the [Swift] monster is inherited from the classic monster [Giant Virus]. Its main feature is that it can quickly bring similar monsters from the deck to the field to spread the field after certain conditions are met. But that's about it. Unless there is a combo that requires a lot of monsters as tributes - such as [Cannon Soldier], the [Swift] monster can't exert much strength at all.

"That's it? Then I'll continue." Seeing that Amon didn't make any further moves, Wan Zhangmu, quite disappointed with his strength, waved his hand and sent another card to the graveyard, saying, "When [Awakening Dragon - Young Hellfire God] is successfully Special Summoned, it can target one face-up monster on the field. I won't choose your card, but rather I will choose [Awakening Dragon - Young Hellfire God] itself on my field."

"Choose one card from my hand and discard it. Then, add one monster from my Deck that has the same Type and Attribute as the targeted monster but a different name to my hand. I discard this [Dark Lord Diablos] and then add this DARK Dragon monster, [Evil Dragon - Evil Knight Dragon], from my Deck to my hand."

After moving around during Amon's turn, Manjoume retrieved the card and added it to his hand before pausing and saying to Amon, "Alright, then continue with your turn."

Upon hearing this, Amon did not hesitate to play a card from his hand and said, "First, I activate the Continuous Spell Card [Treasure of the Underworld]. If I successfully Tribute Summon two or more monsters, I draw two cards from my Deck."

【阿蒙·加勒姆:4000LP,手牌5→6→5→4】

"Then this turn, I perform a Normal Summon, Tributeing two monsters on my field, and I Tribute Summon [Lord of the Mist]!"

The two fish-like monsters seemed to have been sacrifices for Amon's liberation from the very beginning. They were transformed from water and then exploded into two clouds of mist that gathered together and enveloped the area.

Jim and O'Brien saw the fog around them growing thicker, while Manjoume saw the half-body Duel Monster Spirit behind Amon gradually solidify and successfully appear on Amon's field!

[King of Mist] [7☆/Water]

[Mage Race/Effect]

"Although it's a high-level monster, its attack and defense are both 0 points?" Looking at the monster that Amon had summoned with surprise, Manjoume was quite wary of it, after all, it seemed to have some control and interference over Amon Garlem, whose current state was obviously very abnormal.

"Firstly, because of the effect of [Treasure of the Underworld], [King of the Mist] is summoned by Tributing [Swift Sunfish] and [Swift Manta Ray], so I draw two cards from my deck."

[Amon Garram: 4000LP, hand 4→3→5]

"The power of the [King of Mist] is the sum of the original attack power of the sacrifices who gave their lives for it. The original attack power of the [Swift Sunfish] and the [Swift Manta Ray] was 1000 points and 800 points respectively, so its attack power will become 1800 points!"

On the field, [King of Mist]'s attack power fluctuated, but it was clearly too weak. [King of Mist] obviously had other effects, and Amon added, "And, as long as [King of Mist] is face-up on the field, any similar offerings will be prohibited!" "Ritual summons, superior summons, and even the release of effects and rules will be prohibited!"

[King of Fog] [ATK0→1800]

Manjoume frowned, because the effect of [Lord of the Mist] perfectly countered the [Evil Dragon - Evil Knight Dragon] combo that he hadn't yet played. [Evil Dragon - Evil Knight Dragon] could be Special Summoned directly by Tributing one DARK monster from Manjoume's hand or field, and then the Tribute of that DARK monster could trigger the effect of [Dark Lord Diablos], which had just been sent to the Graveyard, to Special Summon it. However, because of [Lord of the Mist's] bizarre effect that prohibited Tributes, this combo was essentially nullified.

Under the effect of [King of Mist], even Principal Hayato's [Turtle Kaibun - Gamesialer] could not release it. Although it is not explicitly stated on the card, there is no doubt that [King of Mist] has the rarest kind of "release resistance"!
"Tch, what a terrible effect. He clearly made his appearance by releasing monsters, but he won't allow others to release them?" Manjoume commented. "There are no other monsters on the field. What kind of king is he? He's truly a 'king' as illusory as mist."

Although his Liberation ability was blocked, Manjoume wasn't too worried. After all, his Light and Darkness deck had plenty of ways to summon monsters besides Liberation, such as banishing monsters from his Graveyard to summon "Mixed Dragon - Vortex Progenitor God", banishing monsters from his Fusion Deck to summon "Light and Ascendant Dragon" and "Dark and Destroy Dragon", and his own Fusion Monster "Light and Darkness Dragon King".

Therefore, there's absolutely nothing to be afraid of regarding things like "not being able to offer any kind of sacrifice".

Just as Manjoume was thinking this, he saw Amon play another card and say, "Next, I will activate the Equip Spell Card [Premature Burial]. I can pay 800 Life Points and target a monster in my Graveyard to Special Summon it to my field."

Taking a card from his graveyard, Amon placed it on the Duel Disk and said, "The monster I want to Special Summon is this one—[Rainy Barrier Statue]."

[Barrier Statue of Heavy Rain] [4☆/Water]

A stone statue with a frog's head and a fish's tail, holding a trident, appeared on Amon's field. The dense water vapor released by the [Lord of Mist] turned into a torrential rain, soaking even Jim and O'Brien outside the field. Meanwhile, the crocodile Karen was "in her element."

"The effect of the Duel Monster has materialized?!" Looking at the real rain in his hand, rather than the simulated rain from the virtual projection system, Manjoume felt a sense of disbelief, wondering if he was hallucinating. He stared in astonishment at the monster on Amon's field.

But what astonished him even more was the effect of the "Rainstorm Barrier" that Amon described.

"The effect of [Rain Barrier] is unique: while it is face-up on the field, neither player can Special Summon monsters other than WATER monsters."

"In other words, if you don't have any Water-type Dragon monsters in your party, they won't be able to be Special Summoned, and Triple Summoning will also be blocked due to the effect of [Lord of the Mist]."

"Your fate is shrouded in torrential rain, and your path ahead is shrouded in smog. I cannot escape, and neither can you!"

Upon hearing Amon's words, Manjou frowned: "Tsk, so it's a duel tactic that focuses on blocking attacks? I should have known better than to give up the first strike."

"But what kind of 'lockdown' is this? I can easily use a normal summon with high attack power to destroy your 'Lord of the Mist' or 'Rain Barrier Statue' directly, or use a spell card with a destructive effect to take out those two defenseless monsters."

Manjoume casually came up with at least two ways to break the current "blockade". "You can rest assured, my Dragon deck is full of powerful monsters. In order to deal with Jaden, who has too many trap cards in his deck, I have also prepared a lot of cards with destructive effects."

“I told you, you can’t escape.” Amon said expressionlessly, drawing another card from the remaining four cards in his hand and playing it out. “Normal Spell Card [Planet Transformation] activated. Add one Field Spell Card from my Deck to my hand.”

"I choose to add this [Village of the Magicians] to my hand and activate it immediately."

Ancient trees broke through the earth, growing wildly in this misty fog, transforming into a huge forest barrier that enveloped the world. As the [King of Fog] on the field flicked his cloak, Manjoume clearly saw that the surrounding fog actually took the initiative to entangle the magic cards in his hand, sealing them off!

“The effect of the Field Spell Card [Spellcaster Village] is that if I have only one Spellcaster monster on my field, my opponent cannot activate a Spell Card. Conversely, if I don’t have any Spellcaster monsters on my field, then I also cannot activate a Spell Card,” Amon explained. “And at least for now, my [Lord of the Mist] is the only Spellcaster monster on the field.”

"It's not over yet. I'll activate this Continuous Spell Card, [Sanctuary of the Spellcaster]."

A desolate ruin emerged from the dense fog-shrouded forest. Manjou saw that even his monster zone was shrouded in the spreading fog. Amon's voice rang out again: "This card's effect takes effect when a Spell Card other than 'Sanctuary of the Spellcaster' is face-up on my field, or when a monster other than a Spellcaster is Normal or Special Summoned to your opponent's field."

"Those monsters cannot attack or activate their effects during the turn they are summoned. As a trade, this card is destroyed if I have no Spellcaster monsters on my field."

By sealing off the Special Summon, Tribute Summon, and even the activation of Spell Cards and monster attacks, Amongai, who still had two cards left in his hand, put down one of them and said, "This 'Rain of Mist' is the limit you can reach."

"Set one card face down, my turn ends."

The Mist King was a card Amon played in his final duel in GX, against Yubel, after the Revenant Old Man was defeated by Rashomon. The animation effects were absolutely insane.

However, given that Amon's wife is still alive at this point, it's reasonable that the Mist King isn't at his full potential, so the effect will remain the same as the physical card version for now.
