Why it never ends

Chapter 1224 Help

Chapter 1224 Help
"Chloe!" Fatima grabbed her again as her daughter tried to run away. "Don't go too far! You've already made everyone go to great lengths to look for you once, and now you're going to—"

"Let me go!" Chloe tried to break free, but found that her mother's hand was extremely strong this time. Fatima's five fingers were like shackles, tightly locked on her wrists, until several servants nearby stepped forward and grabbed her shoulders and arms together.

“I’ve spoiled you too much, and that’s why you’ve become like this,” Fatima said coldly. “How many times have I told you, Chloe, you have your own battlefield—”

"Bullshit battlefield!" Chloe's voice was hoarse and rough from the shout. Sheena stared blankly at her sister. She was also used to Chloe getting angry over all sorts of things, but this kind of anger... seemed to be a first for her.

Chloe's anger was still raging: "What do you mean 'my battlefield'... This is hardly a battlefield? Do you want me to end up like you, marry a nobleman, work hard my whole life, and never even earn the title of wife?!"

"Chloe!" Sheena's shout came almost simultaneously with Fatima's raised hand. Chloe instinctively closed her eyes and shrank her neck—but Fatima's hand did not fall for a long time. Chloe opened her eyes hesitantly and found that her mother had already put her hand down.

“Take her to the attic…to the solitary confinement room,” Fatima said calmly.

Sheena looked at her sister, then at her mother, unsure of what to do.

Several servants led Chloe away from the small dining room, but before they had even reached the end of the outer corridor, a commotion erupted amidst the servants' exclamations—Chloe had escaped.

A male servant rushed back to report to Fatima that he had sent men to follow them.

Fatima, back in her seat, held her knife and fork and indifferently cut the bacon without saying a word.

The table fell silent. Treon shoved several pieces of bread into his mouth, mumbled something, and got up, saying he was going back to sleep.

Sheena didn't look at him, nor did Fatima. Trion's reaction at this moment was the same as ever when the topic had been brought up in front of him—he didn't react at all, as if he hadn't heard anything.

After Treon left, Sheena lowered her eyes and put down her fork.

“Mom, I’m finished eating.” She stood up. “I’m going to check on Chloe.”

Fatima remained seated in the small restaurant until all her family had left. She ate her breakfast expressionlessly, just as she had every morning before.

……

When Chloe realized where she was, she was once again near the horse farm. Thinking of her last escape in the middle of the night, she couldn't help but laugh out loud, a string of snot running down her face.

"Stop following me!" She turned around and shouted at the servants dozens of meters away, "Didn't you hear me! Go back!"

The servants didn't react, but simply stopped for a moment. Once Chloe turned around, they immediately followed.

Several servants seemed to realize Chloe wanted to go riding, and some of them immediately bypassed the woods and ran ahead to the stables via another path. Chloe saw the direction they had quietly left in, immediately turned around, and headed towards the cabin in the woods she had visited before.

She remembered that a woman seemed to live there.

Soon, the small house appeared by the roadside. Chloe saw its door ajar in the distance and immediately quickened her pace. Before she even reached the door, she heard a noisy conversation coming from inside.

She glanced down at her clothes, and after confirming everything was alright, carefully opened the door—the wooden door immediately creaked loudly, and the conversation inside abruptly ceased. Inside, Tiexi, Yujiali, and Hazel turned around simultaneously, their expressions somewhat ferocious. Upon seeing Chloe, all three widened their eyes slightly.

"My God," Tie Xi looked at the door in disbelief, "Eucalypse, what's wrong with your mouth? You actually called someone here!"

Chloe looked at the three people in front of her with some suspicion—Haiser was squatting on the ground with a flashlight in her mouth and both her hands out of a hole in the wall; Eucalyptus was holding an iron plate over the hole; and Iron stood on a ladder not far away, stiffly holding onto an iron frame high up.

"Little girl, go get something for me!" Hazel said in a deep voice, sounding very strained.

Chloe frowned and slowly walked into the house: "...What are you getting?"

"Over there, on the tool wall below the window, on the far right—I don't remember which row it is, but it's near the top—there's a small transparent drawer. Look through it and find a cylindrical capacitor, about half the length of your palm, with a grayish-white casing."

Chloe jogged to the location Hazel had indicated, opened several drawers, and quickly saw the components that matched Hazel's description.

“There are so many!” Chloe compared them. “I don’t know which one you want!”

"Look at the markings on the capacitor; it says 450VAC, 50–60Hz—"

"Bring them all over! Let her choose!" Tie Xi shouted.

Chloe ignored Tin's order and quickly compared the labels on several capacitors, finding that more than one met the requirements.

Seeing that Chloe was still choosing, Hazel continued, "Take the 12 microfarad one!"

Chloe didn't understand what microfarads were, but she immediately picked up two capacitors marked with the number "12" and quickly walked over to Hazel.

Hazel accepted it with a cold expression. Chloe followed her gaze and saw a large mess of wires and plastic sheets in the hole.

"...How much longer? I can't hold on any longer," Tie Xi groaned in pain.

“You can,” Hazel said calmly, “hang in there.”

After some disassembly and reassembly, Hazel finally withdrew his hand. Eucalyptus, who had been carrying the iron plate, breathed a long sigh of relief and carefully put the plate down. Hazel then immediately dragged over another ladder to the vicinity of the tin.

At this moment, the old woman had already put the flashlight back into her pocket. She had several nails in her mouth again and was using a drill to fix the iron frame on the ceiling.

"Alright." The old man winked his right eye at Tiexi. "See? I told you you could do it."

Tiexi trembled as she withdrew her hands, nearly falling off the ladder, but thankfully Eucalyptus caught her in time. The group exchanged glances, finally relaxing and smiling. Only then did Tiexi look at Chloe.

"It's you," she recognized the person in front of her. "Where are your two friends? Didn't they come with you today?"

“I’m not glued to them every day,” Chloe said dismissively, still a little annoyed as she recalled Lü Qizhen and Gabrielle’s reaction to Hersta last night. “What were you doing just now?”
