Why it never ends

Chapter 1229 Comfort

Chapter 1229 Comfort
Hershta suddenly felt very moved.

She lowered the corners of her mouth, her brows slightly raised, pondering how to respond to Xia Yixue's candid confession.

"Anyway, thank you," Xia Yixue suddenly said.

"I?"

Throughout the conversation, Hesta was frequently surprised, and this was the most unexpected moment for her—she was preparing to express her gratitude to Xia Yixue for her trust and choice, but the other party expressed her gratitude first.

“It’s not easy to run a school in a place like this, and we know that better than anyone,” Xia Yixue said. “Although Teacher Pakkat is very experienced in teaching, she is not good at dealing with officials… The last time someone was willing to support her like this was in the province of Nia, thanks to Ms. Eva, the official in charge at the time. Few officials value the education of poor children as much as she does.”

Thinking of Ava, Hester lowered his gaze slightly: "...Yes, she always cared a lot about whether something was fair."

“What I want to say is,” Xia Yixue said carefully, “no matter what the outside world says, the people around you—like us—understand you and support you, and we will stand with you.”

Hersta's gaze swept across Xia Yixue's eyes like a dragonfly before quickly looking away.

"……Thanks."

"Go for it." Xia Yi patted Hesta's arms with both hands. "I believe in you."

It wasn't until Xia Yixue's figure disappeared down the corridor that Hesta belatedly realized that perhaps her words were a special attempt to comfort her—she, and many of the teachers at the farm, had probably seen the reports in various media outlets this morning.

Hester leaned against the window in the corridor for a while, half of her body leaning out of the window, gazing at the horizon.

She drifted off into thought, recalling Xia Yixue's last sharing with her—about Xia Yixue herself, about Pakat… Xia Yixue thanked her and praised the difficulty of establishing a place like the farm. Although Hesta felt a little guilty about the praise—after all, she hadn't started the school with the initial intention of "educational equity"—she felt a surge of genuine pride at Xia Yixue's intentional or unintentional comparison of her to Ava.

Hershta suddenly wondered what Ava would say if she saw all this.

The thought made her feel a little teary-eyed, but then Hersta thought of Miss Chiba again.

Miss Chiba must be watching all of this right now.

Although she didn't know what Ms. Chiba was plotting in the shadows, one thing was certain: Chiba had most likely read through those reports that morning.

The phone call from not long ago echoed in Hersta's ears again, and she involuntarily gripped the window railing tightly, as if it were a spear in her hand.

A moment later, Hester straightened up. She pounded her chest, skipped to touch the chandelier above the hallway, and strode towards the study.

……

This was indeed a tough day.

All morning, Hershta was processing materials related to the Aschia Free Front—these were already pre-processed by Simoya, and she needed to review, sign, and fill out some forms.

Exhausted, Simoya entered Hester's study and told her that having everyone participate in discussing the rules was simply not working; everything was too chaotic. Things that everyone had agreed upon and written down were easily overturned; some arguments had gone completely off-topic, but no one was willing to stop. Her attempts to mediate were met with accusations of "bias" from both sides. "Almost all the written, confirmed regulations have been overturned, except for one. Do you know which one it is?" Simoya looked at Hester. "It's the one you wrote—no one is allowed to bring people without permission."

“That’s why I’m telling you, why bother with all this pretense of discussion? Why don’t you just set up a set of rules and have everyone follow them?” Simona said. “If you’re busy, I can help you draft the charter and then issue it in your name—that would be much easier than what we’re doing now!”

Where are they now?

“Everyone’s gone to work,” Ximoya said. “Lailin said that starting the day after tomorrow, people will be reassigned to work in the fields. Some people will have to go back to the farm during the day, but considering that everyone still needs to learn the language, they will have to take turns. Now everyone is discussing whether to continue living in the palace and going back and forth, or simply move back to the farm and let the teacher go there to teach.”

“Let me think about it,” Hester said. “Show me the results of everyone’s discussion so far.”

"It's already been sent to your email."

"it is good."

In the afternoon, Hersta was about to go to lunch when Boheng returned. He said with a smile that Gahodore had told him that Hersta and a teacher from another school had come this morning to seek justice for Eunice.

"Where is that teacher now?" Boheng asked. "Should I take Eunice to apologize to her?"

"Apologize for what?" Hester frowned. "Who's apologizing?"

“Eunice said she went to the teacher and explained it to him personally,” Boheng said with a knowing tone. “I know Eunice’s personality; her ‘personal explanation’ is probably not something an ordinary person could easily handle.”

“Gahodore said Eunice often does this,” Hersta said, looking at her. “Is that so?”

“Eunice is very stubborn and too strong-willed. When we were in the mountains, let alone fighting with her, she couldn’t stand even being told a few words to,” Boheng said. “What about that teacher? If she wants to know more about Eunice, she can come and talk to me.”

“I’ll ask her in a bit,” Hesta said, turning his gaze back to his screen. “Will you be here all afternoon?”

“I’m leaving tonight,” Boheng said meaningfully. “Before we part, there are still some things I’d like to talk to you about, about the next batch of Kasyapa.”

“When are you leaving tonight? I’ll see you off,” Hesta said. “I probably won’t be free during the day.”

Boheng raised his eyebrows slightly, as if deliberately: "Alright, see you at dinner then."

After Boheng left, Hesta's last bit of appetite vanished. She already found these procedures annoying, and now she had even less inclination to continue. Remembering that Simoya had mentioned the discussion results had been sent to her email, Hesta decided to check them.

However, after opening her email, Hershta's gaze fell on another subscribed newsletter, which had just arrived and was at the top of her inbox.

The first lesson of the new party: condoning evil deeds - why does the Aschia Free Front endorse the extreme abolitionists?
Hershta opened the email and went to the related news page. The first thing she saw was a half-body photo of her and Packart.

The two photos are collaged together in a striking way. The background of the photos is blurred with a halftone effect and filled with black and red, while their faces are given extra shadows, making them look particularly sinister and provocative.
