Chapter 13 Emotions
Ye Chen smiled gently and kindly, like a gentleman, but in Wei Qingsong's eyes, he was more like a hideous Satan.

When a secret hidden deep in one's heart is revealed, one's heart is always filled with fear, especially when that secret contains many unknown factors.

Ye Chen is this unknown factor.

In her memory, Ye Chen had not appeared in the case six years ago.

Ye Chen seemed to know her very well, but she knew nothing about Ye Chen. This realization made Wei Qingsong feel a surge of irritation.

"Dr. Ye, now is not the time for you to catch up."

A handsome figure suddenly blocked her way. Lu Jingming's eyes were cold and deep as he said coldly, "She's just a psychological consultant for the police station. If you want to know why you're being investigated, I can tell you."

"The forensic examiner examined the incision on the deceased's head. The incision was clean, sharp, and extremely forceful. Through an investigation that ruled out the deceased's social circle, we deduced that the four of you, as the deceased's male colleagues, are highly suspicious."

Ye Chen paused slightly, then chuckled softly, "I see. I'm sorry, officer, I didn't mean to."

"If you have any further questions, feel free to ask me." Lu Jingming's face was gloomy, his gaze as cold as ice, and his eyes revealed a chilling glint.

Wei Qingsong was stunned. Standing behind Lu Jingming, she looked up and stared at his handsome profile.

When she was in such a predicament and at a loss, it was Lu Jingming who stood in front of her.

Is he defending her?

"I have no further questions, you two please continue." Ye Chen shrugged nonchalantly, as if he had simply run into an acquaintance and wanted to catch up.

"Tell me, between 2 and 3 a.m. on August 19th, and on the night of August 21st, where were you, what were you doing, and were there any witnesses?" Lu Jingming asked expressionlessly, like an emotionless questioning machine.

Coming back to her senses from the immense shock, Wei Qingsong felt utterly weak. She leaned on the table and slowly sat down next to Li Yundong, closing her eyes slightly and pressing her fingers to her forehead.

Hearing the incessant explanations around him, Wei Qingsong couldn't hear a single word; his heart was pounding uncontrollably.

"I...I'm at home, sleeping," a weak voice said.

It was Li Yundong sitting next to her.

His voice, neither too loud nor too soft, brought Wei Qingsong back to her senses from her chaotic thoughts.

"Is there anyone who can testify?" Lu Jingming looked up at him.

Whether it was Lu Jingming's gaze that was too cold and sharp, or Li Yundong's courage that was simply too weak, he shrank back sharply and shook his head tremblingly.

"No...no, my wife went back to her parents' home."

"Hmm." Lu Jingming responded lightly, then turned to look at Ye Chen.

Before he could ask any questions, Ye Chen readily agreed and said, "I remember it very clearly. I was on leave on August 20th, so on the night of the 19th, I was drinking with some friends at a bar. Those friends can testify for me. As for the 21st, I was on duty at the hospital, and there are doctors and nurses on duty who can testify to that."

"Okay, we understand the situation. It's best if you don't leave Tangzhou. We'll be taking your statements at any time," Lu Jingming said slowly, closing his notebook.

Zhang Feiyang responded most enthusiastically: "Understood, understood."

Wang Hao curled his lip, arrogantly raised his head, but ultimately said nothing.

Wei Qingsong took a deep breath, grabbed the corner of the table, and prepared to stand up. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of the meeting minutes in front of Li Yundong.

She frowned almost imperceptibly and looked at Li Yundong with a probing gaze.

He hunched his neck, lowered his head, like a weak and helpless child, his hands fidgeting nervously.

"He's gone." A calm voice interrupted Wei Qingsong's thoughts.

Lu Jingming's face remained expressionless, his indifference revealing a hint of coldness.

"Ah good."

Lu Jingming didn't wait for her. He threw out two emotionless words, pushed open the conference room door, and walked out. Wei Qingsong hurriedly grabbed her things and followed him quickly.

"Wait for me! You're walking too fast!" Wei Qingsong jogged and finally caught up with Lu Jingming.

Lu Jingming paused slightly, but instead of stopping to wait for her, he walked even faster.

Wei Qingsong: "..."

She really couldn't understand why Lu Jingming suddenly became a little moody again.

She did nothing and said nothing, so what did she do to displease this evil spirit?

What Wei Qingsong didn't know was that it was precisely because she did nothing and said nothing that Lu Jingming was so angry.

Six years ago, she left without saying goodbye, without even leaving a single word.

Ye Chen's words just now gave Lu Jingming a feeling that Wei Qingsong's disappearance six years ago was related to the "back alley of Nanxun Street" that Ye Chen mentioned.

Even a random stranger knows Wei Qingsong's secret, yet he is completely kept in the dark. How can he remain rational and calm under such circumstances?
What exactly happened in the back alley of Nanxun Street six years ago?
-

The atmosphere in the Criminal Investigation Division's conference room was extremely tense.

Lu Jingming crossed his legs, leaned back slightly in his chair, his face aloof and his eyes slightly dark.

The oppressive aura emanating from him made everyone feel extremely tense and repressed, afraid to even breathe, and no one dared to break the silence first.

The rain was still falling when suddenly a strong wind blew up. The clouds hung low, and the sky seemed even darker, as if it were about to collapse.

The rain poured down, relentlessly drenching the earth, as if to wash away the blood and sins of this world.

With a flash of lightning and a clap of thunder, Xiao Song finally rushed in, carrying his computer. He wiped the sweat from his brow and projected the data onto the screen.

"Captain Lu, the meeting can begin," he said timidly.

Lu Jingming then spoke with a stern face: "All the information regarding the headless female corpse dumping case on August 8.21 is here. Do you have any thoughts or anything you need to add?"

On the large screen, the documents were slowly turned page by page.

The life story of the deceased Yang Yan, after her brutal murder, is only recorded in a few thin pages, which tell the whole story of her life and all her love and hate.

Yang Yan was born into a single-parent family. Her childhood was not happy. Her mother suffered the blow of losing her husband, so she became extremely violent and would beat and scold Yang Yan at the drop of a hat.

Unable to bear such a life, Yang Yan left Danzhou after being admitted to university and studied nursing at Tangzhou Medical University. Since then, she has never returned to her hometown and has remained in Tangzhou.

Even after learning that her mother had suffered a stroke three years earlier due to a wrestling accident, she remained indifferent and seemed to have completely cut off contact with her family.

In the eyes of other distant relatives, Yang Yan was undoubtedly a cold-blooded and ruthless person.

"No matter what, her mother raised her all by herself. She's really heartless. Now that she's made money, she doesn't even bother to come back and visit."

This is what Yang Yan's relatives said when Chen Jin contacted them by phone.
