Chapter 18 The scene
Although everyone had anticipated that Li Yundong would be a tough opponent, they were still quite troubled when the moment actually arrived.

"Captain Lu, let's search Li Yundong's house and his locker at the hospital. We can't find the murder weapon or the victim's head anywhere, so he must have hidden them."

Chen Jin's face was scrunched up like a bitter gourd. He scratched his head in frustration, then spread his palms and cried, "Captain Lu, Sister Wei, look at me, my hair is falling out in clumps. This case isn't even solved yet, and I'm already going bald."

At that point, his wife probably won't let him hug her anymore.

Lu Jingming shook his head coldly: "Impossible."

Because he was so concise, Chen Jin didn't know whether he meant the murder weapon and head couldn't possibly be in Li Yundong's house, or that his head couldn't possibly be bald.

Wei Qingsong agreed wholeheartedly, saying, "It's indeed impossible. From a behavioral psychology perspective, Li Yundong is a meticulous person. He would never leave the murder weapon and head in his home like that, especially since his wife is there. And the hospital's lockers are not safe either. It's impossible for him to leave them in such an easily discoverable place."

Although Chen Jin, Xiao Song, and the others didn't quite understand, they inexplicably felt that Wei Qingsong was incredibly impressive, and they all looked at him with admiration.

After a moment of reaction, Chen Jin suddenly looked at Lu Jingming, somewhat puzzled: "Captain Lu, didn't you not believe in psychology?"

How come the investigation of this case seems to have become jointly led by Wei Qingsong and Lu Jingming?

Who was it that said he didn't need help from a psychologist in the first place?

Lu Jingming glanced at him lightly, and rarely spoke up to explain, "My judgment is not based on criminal psychology, but on my experience in handling cases and in life, as well as rigorous logical analysis."

Chen Jin, with a knowing look on his face, said, "Oh, I see."

Lu Jingming: "..."

Anyway, he's already said all that, whether you believe him or not is up to your own judgment.

Wei Qingsong's lips curled up slightly, and a smile appeared in the corners of her eyes and brows.

Xiao Song, who had been deep in thought, suddenly looked terrified and said, "If that's the case, could the murder weapon and the victim's head have been thrown into the sea? Or completely destroyed to cover up the crime? That's why he was so sure that we couldn't find any evidence."

Wei Qingsong's smile faded slightly, his brows furrowed gently, and he sighed before speaking after a long pause: "We cannot rule out this possibility. The forensic doctor determined that there was about a three-day interval between Yang Yan's time of death and the time her body was disposed of. During those three days, he may have been eliminating evidence."

"Ah..." Xiao Song hung his head in deep frustration.

"There's no need to worry so much. Every action leaves a trace. If he did it, he'll always leave a trail. There's no such thing as a perfect crime. Everyone should calm down and continue the investigation. We'll find the evidence eventually."

Wei Qingsong spoke in an extremely gentle tone; her voice seemed to possess a certain magic, always easily soothing people with its gentle, spring-like tone.

Chen Jin, Xiao Song, and the other police officers were all invigorated.

"Sister Wei is right. We will definitely find evidence in 24 hours."

"Yes, at worst we'll conduct a thorough search, inch by inch, until we find the evidence."

Lu Jingming suddenly spoke, his voice cold: "Shut up, it's too noisy."

The conference room, which had been buzzing with chatter just moments before, fell silent in an instant.

His cold gaze swept over the crowd.

"How do you plan to search? Are you just going to wander around like headless flies?" His voice wasn't loud, but it carried a sense of authority.

The officers looked at each other, none of them daring to answer.

I don't know how to answer.

Yes, but where exactly should we look? If we really do a thorough search, how much manpower and resources would that take, and how much time would it waste? Is 24 hours really enough?

After a long silence, Lu Jingming said in a deep voice, "We have been overlooking the most important issue, which is the crime scene."

Yang Yan worked at the city's central hospital and lived in Hongfu Community, No. 433 Baiyang Road, in the south of the city. Her body was dumped at Tianmen Bridge.

So where was she murdered?

Police have been unable to locate the scene where Yang Yan was murdered.

“First, let’s rule out Li Yundong’s house. His wife is still at home. He wouldn’t be stupid enough to invite Yang Yan to his house, much less kill her there,” Wei Qingsong said first.

“It wasn’t Yang Yan’s house either. When I was investigating Yang Yan, I went to her rented apartment, and there was no blood reaction there.” Xiao Song tentatively raised his hand to state his opinion.

"What kind of place could that be?" Chen Jin wondered.

"Check if Li Yundong or Yang Yan own any other properties, as well as all the guesthouses and love hotels in Tangzhou. Make them key targets for investigation and see if there are any traces of their residence registrations," Lu Jingming quickly instructed.

Wei Qingsong understood his meaning and nodded thoughtfully, saying, "That's right. If they were a secret couple, then they would definitely have a place where they often met in secret. When Yang Yan died, she was dressed so beautifully, so it is very likely that she was going to keep a date."

The Tangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau quickly issued a document, and, in conjunction with the police stations in various jurisdictions, conducted a thorough investigation of hotels and guesthouses throughout the city.

Time passed by minute by minute.

There are 21 hours left.

Wei Qingsong arrived at the interrogation room.

Li Yundong is being held here temporarily. If no evidence of murder can be found within 24 hours, he will be released without charge.

He looked tired and sat slumped in the chair.

When Wei Qingsong pushed the door open and came in, he was in a playful mood and deliberately pretended to be timid and submissive.

"Officer, officer... I, I'm innocent, I don't know anything!"

After saying that, he laughed with extreme contempt.

However, Wei Qingsong's expression remained calm and unchanging, without the slightest ripple.

Li Yundong then sat up straight, his expression somewhat unpleasant.

His provocation was ignored by Wei Qingsong, which clearly annoyed him.

Wei Qingsong casually pulled out a chair, the grating sound making Li Yundong frown.

She sat down gracefully, but remained silent.

Li Yundong broke the silence first: "What are you doing here? Can't find any evidence, so you want to use torture to extract a confession?"

"Why are you so nervous? I'm just sitting here casually," Wei Qingsong said with a nonchalant smile.

Li Yundong frowned slightly and said in a stiff tone, "I'm not nervous."

"Fine." Wei Qingsong shrugged nonchalantly, not wanting to argue with him. She casually asked, "It's been three hours, and you haven't had a drop of water, have you? Are you thirsty?"

"No." Li Yundong seemed unwilling to say more.

"Oh." Wei Qingsong raised an eyebrow, a smile playing on his lips, and pulled a can of iced cola, still steaming, from his pocket.

He gulped it down in front of Li Yundong.

Li Yundong couldn't help but lick his dry lips.

Wei Qingsong smiled at him, turned and walked out of the interrogation room. Less than five minutes later, she came back in carrying a large teapot.
