If it wasn't for this whim of my own, I'm afraid I would never know that my mother has fallen into the realm of hungry ghosts and will suffer the pain of hunger forever.

Unexpectedly, the Buddha revealed a compassionate light and gave an explanation that Moggallana could not accept.

【Mugallana!Your mother suffered this retribution because she slandered the Buddha and the Sangha during her lifetime, did not believe in the law of cause and effect, was greedy, angry, and evil, and played tricks on sentient beings. 】

[Because of the deep love between mother and child, your magical powers are covered by family affection, so you don't know your mother's sins! 】

Not to mention that Moggallana could not accept this kind of explanation, I am afraid that any normal person would not be able to accept this kind of explanation.

Therefore, Moggallana then stole the golden tin Zen staff of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, broke into the eighteenth hell, and forcibly rescued his mother.

And the 800 million evil spirits who were originally imprisoned in the [-]th floor of hell also took the opportunity to escape from the hell and came to the human world.

According to myths and legends, the time when the 800 million evil spirits escaped to the world was the period of war and chaos in the last years of the Tang Dynasty.

Therefore, in most versions of legends, there is a saying that these 800 million evil spirits turned into cruel officials, Tang soldiers, and even demons, causing disasters for the Tang Dynasty and eventually causing it to perish.

At this point, the story can be roughly divided into several versions.

First, Moggallana is a disciple of Sakyamuni, and holds the gold tin Zen stick of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva also has a legend of saving his mother.

Therefore, there are rumors that Maggallana is actually Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.

After releasing those 800 million evil spirits, He, who knew he had sinned a lot, made the oath of "hell will not be empty, and he will not become a Buddha", in order to atone for himself and his mother.

At the same time, he also sent his divine beast Di Ting to the world to kill and subdue the 800 million evil spirits who escaped from hell instead.

Second, it did not combine the personalities of Maggallana and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva into one.

After committing heinous crimes, even though Moggallana had the most supernatural powers, he knew that he could not escape the guilt, so after appeasing his mother, he went down to subdue the 800 million evil spirits himself.

The third one is the one that Pei Wende currently feels is most in line with the reality.

That is, after Moggallana released the 800 million evil spirits, he not only failed to save his mother, but even himself was punished by Sakyamuni, and he was reincarnated into an ugly yellow nest.
