Mythological origin
Chapter 294 Hyacinth
Bai Mo and Teach traveled through space and returned to Hyacinth City, a border city of Terra in the Endless Land, in no time. Hyacinth City was also the border between the Holy Terra Empire and the forces of the White Land.
From their vantage point high above, Hyacinth City and Chrysanthemum City resembled two contrasting mosaic pieces inlaid on the vast earth.
One is as white as snow, the other as golden as a chrysanthemum.
Many of the buildings in Hyacinth City still retain the streamlined structure and metallic texture of the era of the flagship, while Chrysanthemum City adopts more local building materials and styles from the Endless Land.
There is no strict separation between the two cities; streets, pipelines, and even some buildings have intersected and merged with each other. Only in certain areas can one still see the huge, curved, and slightly dull metal remains of the former flagship.
These things are like the skeletons of prehistoric behemoths, silently telling the story of the past.
Hyacinth City was originally a small flagship called the Hyacinth.
That was once home to millions of people among the stars, a self-sufficient, closed ecosystem.
The ship is tens of kilometers long and has simulated day and night, artificial mountains and rivers, and layers of living and agricultural sections inside.
When the Black Tide came chasing after them, countless flagships that made up the Terra Empire were randomly launched into various parts of the universe by using the power of the bullet bows to pass through an unstable micro wormhole.
The Hyacinth was very fortunate to be directly transported to the Endless Land.
Unfortunately, he landed headfirst.
The front third of the structure collapsed and compressed completely the moment it hit the ground, turning into a ruin mixed with metal, crystals and organic matter, and incidentally damaging the various survival systems of the flagship.
The air purification module stopped working, the water circulation pipe ruptured, and the artificial sun went out...
Approximately three million people have lived on the Hyacinth for generations.
For the vast majority of them, this accident marked the first time in their lives that they had set foot on real land.
Prior to this, their concept of "land" came only from historical records and virtual images.
In order to survive, they had to start rebuilding everything from scratch, moving and dismantling all the relatively intact supplies and equipment from the Hyacinth, and unfolding the flagship into a city.
This is a massive undertaking.
The surviving superhumans used their own weapons and psionic powers to painstakingly dismantle the damaged hull. Because conventional dismantling tools were almost ineffective for a flagship with such a unique structure as the Hyacinth, a large number of superhumans were also involved in its initial construction in the shipyard.
It was during this period that the people on the Hyacinth came into contact with the White Land, or more accurately, the forces established by the White Breakers.
Those who leave the White Land are former members who have paid the "leaving tax" to the system and choose to leave the White Land voluntarily.
They grew tired of the near-absolute order and arrangement within the system and longed to explore a wider, freer world.
When they left, although they lost the system's omnipresent assistance and resource support, they still took some of the White Land's technology and knowledge with them.
Some of them went directly to the Holy Terra Empire, hoping to use the empire's power to achieve their personal ambitions or seek refuge.
The rest chose to venture out on their own across the endless land.
Using the knowledge and technology they brought from the White Land, they established settlements, developed trade, and even explored uncharted territories.
In any case, this land offers almost endless possibilities for development. Strange plants, rare minerals, and various incomprehensible natural phenomena provide these restless creatures with limitless possibilities, but of course, they are also accompanied by countless unknown dangers.
The endless land is a map that can never be fully explored.
……
The residents of the Hyacinth encountered one of the white-collar forces, Chrysanthemum City.
This faction was mainly established by a group of white-haired individuals skilled in biotechnology and agricultural improvement. The spiritual plant they cultivated, the Autumn Chrysanthemum, can not only adapt to the soil of the Endless Land, but its petals can also synthesize an essence with powerful healing effects, making it an important specialty of Autumn Chrysanthemum City.
Qiuju City is less than 100 kilometers away from the crash site of the Hyacinth.
Almost the instant the Hyacinth appeared, it was detected by the energy sensing arrays and patrol drones that Qiuju City had deployed around it.
The violent spatial fluctuations and the impact of the crash were like a lighthouse in the dark to them.
The two groups, with their shared history, quickly began to cooperate.
Terra contributed its accumulated expertise in metal materials, precision machining techniques, and some energy technologies from the Age of Naval Commanders; Autumn Chrysanthemum City provided biotechnology, agricultural support, and experience in coping with the unique environment of the Endless Lands. Together, they cleared the ruins and built the city.
Hyacinth City, Terra's first colony on the endless land, was thus established.
It is no longer just the wreckage of a crashed starship, but a new home that has truly taken root and grown on alien land.
From here, the Holy Terra Empire's scattered flagships, aided by the power of the dark magic "Ten Immovable Lands," arrived one by one on the Endless Land to begin rebuilding Terra.
The Ten Grounds Immovable is a powerful spatial anchoring ritual that can establish relatively stable spatial coordinates over a vast area, guiding scattered leader ships to perform ultra-long-range, relatively safe jumps.
Each new flagship brings with it a new population, new technology, new resources, and the Empire’s growing influence and order in the region.
For the first time, many people who had lived on space fleets for centuries returned to settle on land.
They need to adapt to subtle changes in gravity, breathe air that is not fully filtered, and feel real sunlight and rain.
The survivors began planting crops outdoors and gazing up at the real starry sky, no longer on a simulated screen.
After a century of development, these two cities are now geographically almost connected, more like a twin city.
……
"I'm going down for a walk." Bai Mo looked at the quiet Twin Cities below and took a step out into the void.
His movements were effortless, and the space beneath Bai Mo's feet rippled with tiny, almost invisible waves.
In the next instant, he arrived at a corner of Hyacinth City.
This is a quiet street located on the edge of the city near the original core area of the flagship.
Beneath his feet were slightly worn metal mesh floors, flanked by cold, hard alloy structures. On the walls, occasionally, he could still see long-dead indicator lights for interfaces and faded markings for areas within the ship. (End of Chapter)
