Chapter 131 Exploring the Mountain

Chapter 131 Exploring the Mountain
As the saying goes, "Looking at a mountain makes your horse run itself to death."

Looking down from the treetops at the distant barren mountains, it was already noon by the time Yaro arrived at the foot of the mountains.

Under the blazing sun, in the sweltering heat, the light seemed to be twisting and turning.

After a morning of trekking through mountains and valleys, Yaro was feeling quite tired.

With swift eyes and hands, he caught a wild rabbit and began roasting it with great interest.

There is a "water-collecting technique" that is convenient, quick, and clean.

Following his memories from his previous life, Yaro used the Fiery Sword to cut open its belly, pierced it with a wooden stick, and then randomly cut some branches and leaves from the surrounding area as firewood.

Despite several attempts to light the campfire with the Spark spell, Yaro was unable to do so and had no choice but to use the Melt spell.

Then, thick smoke spread out.

"Cough cough cough! What kind of wood is this? It looks like dead wood, so why is there so much smoke?"

The inexperienced Yarrow could only use the 'Heat Melting Technique' again to continue heating the smoking areas inside the fire.

With the help of a magic trick, even this damp wood was forcibly ignited, producing slightly less smoke, at least to a level that Yaro could tolerate.

There's no need to worry about barbecue, since I've lived with my senior for so long and usually grill most of my own food.

However, Yaro hadn't anticipated hunting outside when he set out, and without any seasonings, the roasted rabbit meat tasted rather ordinary.

Even though he forced himself to eat a few more bites because he had hunted it himself, he still left most of the rabbit meat uneaten. Unable to eat any more, Yaro had no choice but to throw it away and continue climbing towards the summit of the barren mountain.

……

After an unknown amount of time, the group groped their way to the spot where Yaro had been resting.

Leading the way was a muscular man, about two meters tall, with dark skin and wearing leather armor. He looked around warily, then turned back and muttered in a low voice, "Young Master Jeddah, the person is gone."

“Skinny Monkey, go take a look,” the man who spoke up said. He was of ordinary appearance, wearing tattered apprentice clothes, and his face was full of the vicissitudes of life. Judging from his appearance alone, he did not look like a person of noble status.

But after the man spoke, the thin boy beside him immediately set off. He first silently circled the area to make sure there were no traps, then strode towards the fire, inserted his fingers into the embers, and looked up to say, "We won't be leaving for more than half a quarter of an hour."

Finally, the pale-faced young man crossed his arms and sneered, "Are you all used to being thieves? You're acting all neurotic all the time. Let me make it clear in advance, the money you're giving me for helping out isn't enough for me to crawl through a mouse hole!"

"What did you say!"

The muscular man stood up angrily, his dark muscles bulging explosively and gleaming with a metallic sheen in the dazzling sunlight. His heavy footsteps were like those of a gong or drum.

The pale-faced young man swallowed hard, subconsciously took a few steps back, and frowned as he reminded him, "You invited me here, if you keep this up I'm leaving!"

In close combat, even the strongest novice apprentice would be no match for this brute.

"Iron Tower, come here!" The ordinary-looking man then scolded, turning to apologize to the young man, "Lord Oliver, I'm so sorry, as you can see, Iron Tower is just a brute. You are the runner-up in the academy competition, why bother arguing with a brute like him?"

If the man had rebuked him earlier, his words might have been more persuasive, but at this point, the pale-faced youth could only take the opportunity to back down: "Hmph, of course I won't hold a grudge against him."

The muscular man curled his lip in disdain before looking away. If Yaro had remained where he was, he might have realized that both of these men were somehow connected to him.

The so-called runner-up was none other than Olive, the necromancer apprentice who had fought against Yaro.

The ordinary-looking man was the stall owner who sold diamond materials.

At this moment, the thin boy spoke up: "This person doesn't seem to have followed us. Perhaps he's just a passing apprentice who's curious and came to see this desolate mountain."

Olive avoided the burly man and walked to an open space. He pretended to check his footsteps and turned to ask the stall owner, "Jida, how much longer will it take to activate? The longer we wait, the more apprentices will return, and the easier it will be to be exposed here."

Jida said, "Three more days will be enough. Once activated, I can turn it on at any time without worrying about being exposed."

Olive stared intently at the stall owner and warned, "Don't get any funny ideas. I'm a formal student of necromancerism. This place is only this far from the academy. Even if I die, you won't be able to escape the necromancer's pursuit!"

The skinny monkey stood up and said with a forced smile, "Lord Oliver is joking. As long as you can help us deal with the Crystal Scorpion, all the bones inside are yours. You know we don't really need the bones anyway."

Jida quickly explained, "I'm just an ordinary beginner apprentice. Those two aren't even wizard apprentices. You're the runner-up in the academy competition, with rich combat experience. You've created a distance, and we're no match for you!"

No one knows what kind of improvement Oliver received after the college tournament.

The two looked at each other and simultaneously smiled kindly.

……

After climbing the mountain, Yaro discovered that behind the barren mountain was actually a circular lake.

The brownish-yellow soil indicates a high sulfur content, suggesting that the volcano was once very active, but is now filled with water, possibly because the academy's wizards intervened and subdued it.

"It's a bit strange, isn't it? Even so, there should be vegetation adapted to the volcanic environment."

Although Yaro was somewhat puzzled, he didn't pay much attention to it.

In his previous life, there were many barren volcanoes, not to mention the wondrous nature of the world in this life. He was actually somewhat grateful for this environment; the barren, dormant volcano crater was perfect for conducting experiments.

In particular, with this ring structure, subsequent adjustments to the distance or changes in the rotation speed are made without the need for the back-and-forth travel required when selecting multiple mountain peaks.

Having decided on the location, Yaro didn't linger and headed straight back.

Although it wasn't far from the Silent Forest, the road conditions in between... there was practically no road at all. He had to select his equipment again, pack it up, and make it easier to carry later.

Another reason is that I need to report back to Wizard Bosco, tell him the exact location of the experiment, and remind him to come and check on it from time to time, and also give him a heads-up...

If you haven't seen yourself for a long time, remember to come and rescue people!

Cough!

Yaro would not admit that the second was his main objective.

He couldn't slack off on completing personal tasks and earning contribution points and magic stones, but he also wouldn't forget those wizards who might have ill intentions.
