In order to learn more Buddhist thoughts, Li Shaojie came to a famous temple.

When you enter the temple, you will see how crowded the surrounding people are.

Pilgrims buy incense candles, worship Buddha, and worship Buddha.

But Li Shaojie shook his head and frowned slightly.

This doesn't seem to be what I want to see.

Seeing the novice monk on duty, Li Shaojie stepped forward.

"Hello, little master."

Sha Mi glanced at Li Shaojie, frowned, and pouted to the other side.

"Buy incense over there."

"Uh, I'm not an incense burner."

Li Shaojie smiled slightly.

"Excuse me, is the abbot of your temple here? I have some questions to ask."

Sammy rolled his eyes unabashedly.

But he didn't say anything more and shook his head.

"I don't know where the abbot is, but I don't think there will be time to come, guests, please do what you want!"

"."

Li Shaojie shook his head.

Is it really a bit abrupt to come by yourself?

But that might be a good thing.

After all, if that's the case. Hmm.
Probably can't learn anything.

After all, the Buddha here does not go through poverty, nor does he go beyond a bachelor's degree.

Shaking his head, Li Shaojie made the trip purely for nothing.

After returning home, I found my teacher, Professor Chen, hoping to introduce me to some philosophical researchers who have in-depth research on Buddhism.

There is no separation between art and philosophy, Professor Chen really found a retired old professor for Li Shaojie.

On this day, after packing up his things, Li Shaojie came to visit.

The old professor lives in the most ordinary city, the most ordinary old district.

Downstairs is the vegetable market, fish killers, vegetable sellers, fruit stands, a bustling market.

Li Shaojie scratched his head involuntarily.

This seems to have a feeling of being hidden in the city.

Bring a gift and knock on the old professor's door.

"Yo! Shaojie is here?!"

The old professor smiled and opened the doors.

"Old Chen told me about you, come in quickly."

"Professor Rong Zan, hello, hello!! That's really troublesome for you!!"

Li Shaojie said hello politely and entered the room.

The two came to the study.

Take a look at the books in the bookcase in the study room, and sometimes you can know what the owner is interested in or good at.

Sure enough, all of them are all kinds of Buddhist books that are difficult to understand.

"Hehe, come on, I heard you want to ask something."

Professor Rong Zan took a sip of tea with a smile.

Li Shaojie nodded.

Take a look at Professor Rong Zan. The tea is the big pot of tea from the canteen downstairs, and I saw it just now.

Clothes are a bit old, but clean.

The home is very simple.

Perhaps, from here, you can get the knowledge you want.

"Well, Professor Rong, I'll ask."

Li Shaojie smiled slightly, speaking is an eternal problem.

"What is Buddha?"

"Yo, you kid, it's quite interesting."

Professor Rong Zan chuckled and shook his head.

"Buddhas are sentient beings."

Seeing that Li Shaojie seemed to be thinking about something, Professor Rong Zan asked with a smile.

"You kid, if you ask the Buddha, if you can ask me, you must know that Buddhism is different from Buddhism!!"

"Ok!"

Li Shaojie nodded.

"Buddhism is an organization. For the smooth operation of the organization, it is necessary to divide the hierarchy, even class."

"But Buddhism is a kind of philosophy, for the purpose of exploring knowledge."

"Hehe, yes, and no!"

Professor Rong Zan nodded with a smile.

At least, Li Shaojie has this understanding, so it proves that he can understand what he said next.

It is also possible to look at "philosophical issues" without any prejudice.

"Buddhism is divided into abbots, abbots, and novice monks. In order to be stable, the Buddha will be deified and worshiped by people."

"But in fact, Buddhism talks about the equality of all beings."

Professor Rong Zan explained slowly.

"So, I say, the Buddha is all living beings."

Li Shaojie nodded and frowned.

It makes sense.

But it's too much space.

As if feeling Li Shaojie's thoughts, Professor Rong Zan didn't instill any thoughts.

Instead, start with examples from around you.

"Shaojie, let me ask you."

"A soldier of the people, when the flood came, he, who was afraid of death, used his own flesh and blood to fill the way of people's survival. I want to ask you, is he considered a Buddha?"

In a word, it seemed that Li Shaojie understood something, and his eyes lit up slightly.

This is the "living Buddha" that exists in reality.

"Calculate!"

"Ok!"

Professor Rong Zan nodded appreciatively.

"Such a poor father who only eats one meal a day and does the most tiring hard work, just to make his adopted child have two or three hundred more living expenses every month, is he considered a Buddha? "

".Calculate!"

Li Shaojie hesitated for a moment.

But still nodded.

Professor Rong Zan smiled in satisfaction.

"All are Buddhas, but all are sentient beings."

"All living beings are suffering, Buddha is all living beings!!"

Li Shaojie nodded, but frowned.

"Then teacher, how do you understand [one thought of enlightenment, one is Buddha, one thought of delusion, one is sentient beings]?"

Hearing these words, Professor Rong Zan's smile seemed to become softer.

"Then Shaojie, let me ask you, when does the disciple soldier mentioned just now count as a sentient being and when is he counted as a Buddha?!"

Before Li Shaojie could speak, Professor Rong Zan's words hit Li Shaojie like a flash of light.

"Buddha is enlightenment!!"

Having said that, Professor Rong Zan smiled meaningfully.

"All living beings are unawakened Buddhas, my Buddha"

"It's atheistic!!"

"For a long time, only in Buddhism and folk beliefs, those who have enlightenment have been deified into so-called gods and Buddhas in the sky. The real Buddha lies only in the firm awareness of the heart."

Professor Rong Zan couldn't help laughing.

Yes, he laughed before he said it.

"Buddha is not worshiped."

"Some people spend money to burn incense and worship Buddha because they are afraid of passing the exam. Some people feel uneasy after doing bad things and spend money to worship Buddha. Do you know what this behavior is called in our folk?!"

"This?"

Li Shaojie had a face full of shit.

Two words appeared in my heart, but I didn't dare to say them.

"Look, you have thought of it, but you dare not say it."

Professor Rong Zan laughed out loud.

"This behavior, among the people, is collectively called bribery by us!! If the Buddha is really blessed, wouldn't it become bribery?!"

"Hahahahaha!!"

In Li Shaojie's cracked expression, Professor Rong Zan laughed loudly.

After a while, the laughter stopped.

Li Shaojie continued to listen quietly.

Only to hear Professor Rong Zan get serious and speak slowly.

"Once upon a time there was a king named Miaozhuang who had three daughters."

"My youngest daughter, Miao Shan, didn't want to get married, so she became a monk to practice."

"When King Miaozhuang is seriously ill and cannot be cured for a long time, he is about to pass away."

"Hearing this, Miaoshan cut off his hands and eyes, and healed King Miaozhuang."

"When King Miaozhuang recovered from his illness and came to Xiangshan to pay respects to the Immortal Buddha, he discovered that the one who rescued him was his youngest daughter, Princess Miaoshan."

"Seeing that Princess Miaoshan has lost her hands and eyes, King Miaozhuang, who was deeply saddened, appealed to heaven and earth and kowtowed."

"The heaven and the earth were moved by it, so, under the influence of the mighty power of the heaven and the earth, Princess Miaoshan grew a thousand hands and a thousand eyes. This is the allusion of the avalokitesvara Bodhisattva with a thousand hands and a thousand eyes and a solemn treasure."

Li Shaojie nodded.

But for a while, I didn't understand why Professor Rongzan would tell such a story.

"Understand?"

Professor Rong Zan chuckled.

"In this story, there are heaven, earth and nature, and there are people, but there are no immortals and Buddhas."

"When King Miaozhuang discovered that the one who saved him was his little daughter, the immortal Buddha is a human being, but this person has awakened."

"Without hands and eyes, but with a bodhicitta."

"So, this enlightened person is Guanshiyin Bodhisattva with thousands of hands and eyes!!"

Li Shaojie suddenly realized.

Perhaps, the story has many loopholes and is criticized a lot, and it is even contrary to the perception of modern people.

Or with some feudal colors.

But in fact, what is expounded is the core of Buddhism, a truly atheistic Buddha.

Enlightenment is the Buddha.

The so-called detachment, the so-called one-thought delusion, one-thought awakening, are talking about this enlightenment.

All living beings are unawakened Buddhas.

Buddha is only a person who has enlightenment.

And this awareness, what kind of awareness should it be?
It is nothing more than the consciousness that originated from "truth, goodness and beauty".

Li Shaojie seemed to understand.

What does it mean to "put down the butcher's knife and become a Buddha immediately".

It is not that if you put down the butcher knife, you can become a Buddha regardless of your past sins.

What I said is that a person who has gone astray but is willing to do good is ready to face his sins, accept the world's punishment and judgment for him, and pay repentance for it.

He has already made up his mind to "make atonement for his evil deeds".

But at this time, he, who is full of evil, is willing to atone for his evil deeds. After doing one evil deed, he will do one hundred good deeds, and then enter the Avici Hell to bear the pain that his evil deeds bring to others.

This is the meaning of the so-called "put down the butcher knife and become a Buddha immediately".

Buddha is an awareness of truth, goodness and beauty.

Buddhism is about exhorting people to be good.

Li Shaojie suddenly understood why the teacher used these deeds as examples.

I also understand what a Living Buddha is.

That's because, those who are willing to save their compatriots, their hearts at this time are full of enlightened truth, goodness and beauty.

Buddha, this is translated.

In fact, the original meaning of the Sanskrit word buddha is "the enlightened one"! !

Cultivating Buddhahood is a process of cultivating one's own virtues by clarifying one's mind and seeing one's nature.

The first stage, arhat, is the view of the three realms, the confusion of thinking, and the attainment of wisdom.

Learn wisdom!

The second stage, bodhisattva, is to use supreme wisdom and bodhicitta to transform sentient beings with compassion.

Cultivate your mind, be true, kind and beautiful!

The third stage is the Buddha, that is, the "enlightened one".

That is perfect enlightenment!

Buddhism may deify the image of Buddha for people to worship.

But in Buddhism, there are no gods, only enlightened ones, pioneers.

A guide, but not a leader.

"Buddha, never advertised himself as a god."

Professor Rong Zan said with a smile.

"Buddha actually thinks of himself as a teacher."

"Mishi Shidu, this crossing is a guide, not a direct gift of detachment, so, enlightened ones, cross by yourself!!"

Professor Rong Zan shook his head.

"Buddha is not a god, and Buddha is not omnipotent. Buddha and Buddhist studies cannot give others liberation. Buddha is just a teacher. Buddha just tells us that all living beings in the sea of suffering must cross themselves!!"

"Be kind and be kind!"

"Self-improvement!"

After taking a sip of tea, he stood up, and Professor Rong Zan patted Li Shaojie on the shoulder.

Get emotional.

But Li Shaojie always felt that there was something crazy inside and outside of these words.

"I want to really understand Buddhism."

"Stay away from the mental illness that the gods talk about, and stay away from religion."

"."

What does your designation imply!
Li Shaojie couldn't help but shook his head with a smile.

"Then teacher, without considering Buddhism, what does Buddhism think about eating meat and killing animals?"

Li Shaojie asked thoughtfully.

"Or about the value of life, how to measure it?"

"Hehe, you kid, you like to ask tricky questions."

Professor Rong Zan laughed.

"Wolves and sheep are both sentient beings. If you prevent wolves from eating sheep, are you doing good or accumulating evil?"

This commonplace topic was immediately stopped by Li Shaojie.

In fact, this type of topic has been debated endlessly in philosophy.

Philosophy does not have a so-called "correct standard answer".

"First of all, let's be clear."

Professor Rong Zan shook his head.

"Humans haven't handled it well, so why discuss eating meat?!"

"Even if cannibalism still exists, why don't we talk about anti-war and eating meat?"

It's not that I don't talk about it.

After a few words of emotion and a smile, Professor Rong Zan continued.

"That person didn't eat meat, he starved to death, what about all living beings?!"

"The food chain itself is a natural rule. The Buddha is enlightened, but enlightenment is not to break the natural cycle, but to protect the natural cycle."

"Meat can be eaten, because it is natural selection and natural law."

"But don't slaughter indiscriminately, and don't waste it. It's like cutting down forests that can't be used up, and slaughtering livestock that can't be used up. Then I ask you, does this also destroy the natural cycle?"

"And kill."

Professor Rong Zan smiled.

"Buddhas are sentient beings and human beings. When Arhats still have their eyes wide open, all living beings are equal and all living beings are suffering, but this is not a reason for one sentient being to harm another."

"The value of life cannot be formulated. Everyone is unique, and this is also written in the law."

"In modern times, if there are foreign enemies who dare to invade and harm the sentient beings in our country, then my Buddha's mercy is the east wind."

"In the face of evildoers, our country has a complete set of criminal laws. The Buddha is an enlightened person, but he is also a human being. Then you have to speak the law. The real Buddha, since he is enlightened, will naturally know how to abide by the law."

What the hell!

What a law-abiding, compassionate Buddha.

Li Shaojie called him an expert.

Although these words sound a bit strange at first glance, but it is really the same thing! !

"The world is not black and white, and philosophical thoughts are not blindly followed. Buddha is a teacher, so that you can learn to establish your own way of thinking and healthy thoughts and concepts from philosophy, so as to make this world a better place. .”

Rong Zan chuckled.

"Buddhism is for people to be good, but you have to know that ancient people's thinking is not as dialectical as yours. Therefore, in order to persuade people to be good, these black and white arguments will naturally be developed."

Li Shaojie nodded.

It seems to remind me of a story from the past.

A tyrant gives a monk a choice between killing and eating meat.

The eminent monk ate meat generously.

This is not a question of "eat meat or not".

It is a question of "goodness".

Cultivating Buddhism does not necessarily mean becoming a monk.

It's not about being a monk who abandons his wife and children, but a person with a clean six senses who escapes the world.

Instead, be upright and be kind.

Join the WTO, give the world, and give gentleness to all beings.

The behavior of abandoning his wife and children is obviously not a kind of integrity and kindness.

Compassion, pity for the suffering of all beings, but not the Holy Mother.

"It's hard to live, but it's lucky to be alive."

"Buddhism is to fill the world with goodness and beauty, and to make people live happier."

Li Shaojie listened to Professor Rong Zan's words meticulously.

But there is always a strange feeling.

It's as if... I'm about to be saved.

"Buddha is not illusory, Buddha is the truth, goodness and beauty in the heart, the inner consciousness."

Coming to the window and looking at the crowd in the busy city, Li Shaojie always felt that Professor Rong Zan's back was about to glow like a Buddha.

"Detachment, becoming a Buddha, is it difficult?"

"Joining the WTO is more difficult!"

In the downtown area, people are bustling with each other.

The butcher, the vegetable farmer, and the fish killer all yelled at each other.

The city here belongs to the old city, not very modern, not very rich.

Professor Rong Zan's house is only an old house of [-] square meters, and he has lived in it for decades.

But here, although it lacks a sense of technology, it has a touch of humanity.

"Come! Come and see!!"

Professor Rong Zan greeted Li Shaojie with a smile.

Before you want to save foreigners, you must first be saved by yourself, right?
ps, once again, Buddhism is not equal to Buddhism, just like Taoism is not equal to Taoism.

The former is philosophy, the latter is religion.

Regarding religion, although I also study religious music, the author only believes in Marx. Religion?Capitalist scam! !
In fact, from the beginning of the novel, from the history, the author Jun himself also had a prejudice against Buddhism.

But if you read it carefully, you will find that Buddhism and Marx are unexpectedly in tune.

Only philosophy is discussed here, not religion.

As for the philosophy of this paragraph, it is not just a word count, nor is it simply to lead to works.

It is a kind of impetus from the protagonist's later behavior, and the pit written in the early stage of "Why is the protagonist so big and a genius nestled in the corner" is expected to be filled soon.
