Chapter 2406 Main Text
Chapter 2323 of the main text

In recent years, even high-end game consoles have cost two to three thousand yuan, comparable to the price of a mid-to-high-end mobile phone. I remember back then, because I bought a lot of things that took up my budget, I was initially interested in a handheld console that cost four or five hundred yuan. However, since I didn't have that much budget, I planned to buy one that cost a few dozen yuan. There were consoles in the sixty or seventy yuan range, also with color screens, but smaller screens. They could play games from the Super Mario era, but couldn't run games like Lovecraft. My family disagreed, saying not to buy children's toys, and they were willing to help me add money to buy a mid-range game console. They said it wasn't a big deal, and it wasn't about buying expensive items. But I didn't buy one that cost several hundred yuan, not wanting my family to add money. Instead, I bought a handheld console for a little over a hundred yuan myself. At that time, I could have bought items that cost two or three hundred yuan or more, but I still bought an entry-level model, a very low price, just the price of a meal at a restaurant during a holiday. Upon receiving the console, I discovered that the screen had glare at certain angles. I initially wanted to return it, but after viewing it vertically, the glare disappeared. It wasn't a full-angle, high-definition screen, a potential issue with screens from mobile phones over a decade ago. Back then, for a year or two, and even before that, I used a small touchscreen phone with a small screen. While there was some glare at certain angles when viewed horizontally, it wasn't as severe as this game console. The console's low price meant the screen material wasn't good either. The 8GB memory card contained thousands of games, mostly older or modified versions. Some games were over forty years old, essentially remasters. Newer games were around twenty years old, with user-made modifications being more recent. Later releases couldn't run due to a lack of emulators or high system requirements. Connecting to a computer allowed me to copy files. The replacement memory card was an older one, but it didn't improve transfer speeds; it felt like an outdated electronic product, only with a new exterior. I used that game console to play the Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle series, Heart III. I've already played the first two games on my gaming laptop using an emulator, as well as other favorite games like King of Fighters and Street Fighter. I discovered a game called "Wulin Gaiden," but haven't played it. It uses characters with the same names as the TV series and is somewhat similar in style to the oldest version of Jin Yong's Heroes of the Three Kingdoms, but the amount of story is significantly different, and there aren't as many dungeons. There have been several similar games in the past.
