We ate dinner at the five-star hotel restaurant that evening, ordering Cantonese roast duck, stir-fried seaweed, and cold beef dishes using a group-buying app.

According to the female head waitress at the restaurant, all the tables for the hotel's New Year's Eve dinner, numbering in the dozens, were already fully booked. If you wanted to come, you could wait on the sofas outside; there might be a seat available, but it wasn't guaranteed. There were several price ranges for New Year's Eve dinners for two or three people, from around 500 yuan to several hundred yuan, one or two thousand yuan, and even three or four thousand yuan. The portions at that five-star hotel restaurant were small and the prices were relatively high, but the entry-level New Year's Eve dinner was reasonably priced.
