Chapter 2418 (3)

Once, when I went to look at jewelry stores, I saw that they had just received a new shipment of several ordinary glass pendants. Inside the transparent glass pendants were gold foils with embossed patterns.

When I asked if the gold foil on those glass pendants was pure gold, the shop manager said the purity couldn't be guaranteed because they were only 39 yuan each, making them inexpensive decorative items. She said they weren't like the gold-inlaid jade items in the store, which were genuine pure gold and had individual testing certificates for each item. She explained that the original price tags on those gold-inlaid jade items were several hundred yuan, but the store was offering them for 80 yuan as a promotion. They weren't actually cheap; they were originally sold for several hundred yuan, so their quality was different from the low-priced items.

After comparing the various jewelry items, I didn't buy the glass-foil pendant, even though it was 3 for 100 yuan and came with a free cord. Instead, I bought a gold-inlaid jade pendant with a bamboo design, marked "pure gold" on the back, along with a certificate of authenticity. This is the second time I've bought the same design. I'm willing to spend 70 or 80 yuan on it.

I saw someone come into the store and spend twenty yuan to buy a jewelry cord with a gold-inlaid jade pendant hanging on it, to wear over their clothes as an accessory. Since the jade surface is only covered with a layer of gold foil held together with adhesive, the gold foil may fall off or break over time, so it needs to be handled with care. Although spending a hundred or a few hundred yuan on a gold-inlaid jade pendant isn't expensive, it's still a small pure gold pendant worth several thousand yuan, suitable for long-term wear. Even with some wear and tear, it's still real gold, and can be relatively preserved for a long time. It can also be recycled or returned for a refund.

After buying the goods, I passed by a gold shop in the same mall. At that time, the price of pure gold in that gold shop was over 1,100 yuan per gram, which was about 100 yuan lower than the price of gold in some brand stores.

The saleswoman told me that the gold shop originally had two stores, but later only one remained, though it has been open for many years. She said the quality of the gold jewelry in the store is up to standard, and suggested I buy some or exchange it for a different style.

Since I didn't have much of a shopping budget at the time, I just looked at what items were the cheapest in the store. I could also check out items priced at thousands of yuan.

The long-haired female shop assistant said that the store had gold beads priced at around 300 yuan, which were entry-level items. If you bought any, they would give you a free string and a cord for stringing. Many people were buying them; this simple style was popular.
