Riding the wind of rebirth

Chapter 2051 Chuanzhu Temple

Mai Xiaomiao couldn't help laughing at Zhou Zhi's annoyance. Out of habit, she wanted to lean towards Zhou Zhi, but then she remembered that this was a serious meeting and quickly sat up straight again: "If that's the case, that's enough."

The soldiers on the opposite side breathed a sigh of relief. Zhou Zhi's decision had far exceeded their expectations. At the same time, they also understood the wisdom of the country's decision. An investment of hundreds of millions was decided by a single word. It would be unlikely for any state-owned enterprise or research institute to do so.

Of course Zhouzhi will invest. Since it has made a good start, there is no reason not to continue.

Planning artificial intelligence in advance is certainly a way for the information industry to overtake others. When there was no opportunity, we could only sigh, but now that there is an opportunity, we will naturally seize it with all our might.

Mai Xiaomiao was also very satisfied. She was satisfied that although the plan had undergone some temporary major adjustments, Zhou Zhi still strongly supported her.

With the major issues agreed upon, the next things will be relatively simple, mainly the two major issues of project promotion and team building. The former does not require much worry, while the latter has been leaning towards this project, but talent is relatively scarce, and may still need to be cultivated from within. In short, it will not be achieved in a short time.

After finishing these, Zhou Zhi drove to the West Station to check the collection and sorting of items in the cultural relics protection warehouse of the Yu Tang Foundation's Muzong Factory, and sent the car to Liangshan Prefecture by train.

After getting used to driving the Defender that has been modified to look like a pickup truck, Zhou Zhi now basically goes to the station to check in his car every time he leaves Liangshan, so that he can travel around conveniently and doesn't have to arrange for the group or Sister Xiaojuaner to find a car for him.

The West Station Wood Factory has undergone great changes now. After the machinery was towed away, the tall factory building left behind was converted into a warehouse. It has become the base camp for the Yu Tang Foundation to rescue the Three Gorges folk cultural relics.

I haven't been here for a long time, and many important cultural relics have been added here.

The Yangtze River is the most densely populated area in the world. To escape war and find a new home, people have been entering the slopes on both sides of the Three Gorges for millions of years. Now that the rescue and excavation work has been fully launched, it includes more than 140 Stone Age sites, more than 100 Cuban sites, 470 Han to Six Dynasties relics, nearly 300 temples, houses, bridges and other Ming and Qing Dynasty buildings, ...

These things are distributed in two cities, eleven county towns, 114 towns, and 1,680 villages, especially in Fengjie, Wushan, Zigui, Guilin Village and other human settlements that have been inhabited for thousands of years. The old city of Fengjie alone, Yidoumen, is enough to keep the foundation's archaeological team busy for a while.

The Foundation plays two major roles in the cultural heritage protection work of the Three Gorges. The first is to assist the archaeological team in conducting rescue excavations and provide the necessary organization and support in terms of personnel, funds and materials. The second is to collect and save those fragmentary projects that have considerable value but are not worth the country's efforts and financial resources.

The work on places like ruins and relics belongs to the state, but the rescue work of many valuable historical sites like ancestral temples, houses, bridges and sculptures that are not of the same level has become a private activity and has been taken over by the Yu Tang Foundation.

Many discoveries have been made during this period, such as the discovery of an ancient zinc smelting site in Fengdu, and a batch of firearms from the Southern Song Dynasty in the Southern Song Dynasty site in Baidicheng, which are the earliest gunpowder objects and the most complete iron cannon objects found in Chinese archaeology. There is also the Daxi site in Wushan, which is getting bigger and bigger as it is dug, and more and more discoveries are made. Through exploration, the distribution range of the Daxi site has been further clarified, and it has been determined that the site is roughly from the south bank of the eastern entrance of Qutang Gorge to the western end of the wide valley of the Daning River of the Yangtze River, across the Yangtze River to the north facing Taozi Mountain, to the west to Shengjia Mountain and Wuyunding belonging to the Qiyao Mountain System, and to the south to Daxi River adjacent to the Zaoyuanping site. It is distributed on a sloping terrace in the transition zone from the foot of Shengjia Mountain to the Yangtze River floodplain, high in the west and low in the east, narrow in the north and wide in the south, covering three communes and an area of more than 50,000 square meters.

The distribution areas of early and late remains and the functional zoning within the settlements have now been preliminarily confirmed. Two hundred and thirty-three tombs, nine hundred and fifty ash pits, eight hearths, eight ditches and two kilns have been discovered and cleaned up, and thousands of small pieces of various utensils made of pottery, stone, bone, clam, porcelain, copper, silver, gold and iron have been unearthed. The eras cover the Daxi culture, Yuxi upper culture, Yuxiping culture and Zhongba culture of the late Neolithic period; the Shidiba culture, Wazhadi culture and Chu culture of the Shang and Zhou dynasties; and later periods such as the Han to Six Dynasties, Sui and Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties.

This huge discovery has now become a tough nut to crack in the rescue excavation of the Three Gorges Project, gathering a team of six to seven hundred people from all over the world, with the momentum of an "archaeological battle".

Because the task was too heavy, many valuable Ming and Qing Dynasty buildings, such as residential houses and ancestral halls, were no longer able to be taken care of in various places.

It is also for this reason that many of the building components that arrived at the large warehouse of the Muzong Factory are of much higher quality than the first batch shipped in.

For example, ancient building complexes like the Yunyang Chuanzhu Temple and Xiaoxiang Guild Hall should not be rescued by the foundation in theory. However, there is a large project waiting for the overall relocation of the Zhang Fei Temple in Yunyang, and all the country's manpower and material resources are now poured into that, with no spare capacity at all.

This gave Zhou Zhi the opportunity to introduce the origin of Chuanzhu Temple to Mai Xiaomiao.

"The Chuanzhu Temple is actually a water god worship for the Chinese nation. There are many theories about the origin of Chuanzhu. For example, Li Bing, who opened the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, was worshipped as Chuanzhu and Guankou God by later generations to commemorate his great achievements and to build a temple to worship him."

"Some say it was Yang Jian at the end of the Shang Dynasty. Because he had eight or nine meritorious deeds, either Li or Zhao, he would be entrusted with transformation at any time to show his spiritual power and bring blessings to the people. In Shu, he was the Lord of Sichuan."

"There is also a saying that Zhao Yu, the governor of Jiazhou in the Sui Dynasty, led the entire city's army and civilians to subdue the monster in order to save the people from the dire situation when a water dragon was causing chaos in Qianwei, causing floods. He personally jumped into the water with a sword and killed the thousand-year-old dragon to quell the flood. To commemorate his achievements in killing the dragon and controlling the flood, later generations built a temple in Guankou to worship him. Because he was the second child in the family, Zhao Yu was also called Guankou Erlang. Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty named him a brave general, and Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty went to Shu and specially named Zhao Yu as the loyal king Yuyinghou. Emperor Zhenzong of the Song Dynasty, out of respect for the Zhao family's original surname, specially named him 'Qingyuan Miaodao Zhenjun'."

"Later, these gods were combined into one, solidified into a fixed image, and although the places for worshiping them have many names such as Chuanzhu Palace, Chuanzhu Temple, Chuanwang Palace, Erlang Temple, Qingyuan Palace, Wantian Palace, Huimin Palace, and Fulong Palace, the people are accustomed to calling such places 'Chuanzhu Temple'."

"As Sichuanese traveled around, by the Qing Dynasty, Sichuan main temples were spread all over the counties of Sichuan Province, and also spread to Yunnan, Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei, and even Guangdong, Fujian, Qinghai, Gansu, Tibet and other places. There are more than 500 such temples recorded in local chronicles. Sichuan main temples outside Sichuan and Chongqing actually served as Sichuan people's guild halls."

"In addition to its exquisite architecture, Yunyang Chuanzhu Temple is also worth noting in that it was built by merchants from Hunan Province as their base in Wushan. This is the reverse output of Chuanzhu culture from being introduced to Xiaoxiang and then flowing back." (End of this chapter)
