Arcane Journey

Chapter 615: Confrontation with God

After his first conversation with the Lord God of the Elves, Brian could feel that the being before him had already surpassed the scope of ordinary gods. His aura might have merged with the pulse of the entire world, but he could be withdrawn at any time and transformed into a higher-dimensional being.

But there was still one thing that puzzled him.

So, Brian didn't hesitate at all and asked the other party about his doubts directly in front of him.

"So...why haven't you reached it yet?"

In fact, he already had a rough answer in his mind, but even so, he couldn't help but ask.

Because he knew that some answers could only be truly engraved deep into the soul if heard with one's own ears.

Faced with Brian's sudden and slightly abrupt question, the elven god Corellon's expression remained as calm as the surface of a lake, without a single ripple.

He did not answer immediately, but turned his head slowly and looked at Brian.

Those eyes were like a lake in the early morning light, bright and soft, yet so deep that they seemed to contain the reflections of countless galaxies.

After a moment of silence, Corellon's figure appeared in front of Brian as quietly as the morning mist.

The movement was so light that it seemed just a breath of the wind, or like a ray of light cast as the night spread silently.

Then, He slowly stretched out His hand, His fingertips drew an almost invisible track in the air, and finally landed lightly on Brian's shoulder.

This touch seemed ordinary, but it made Brian freeze in place instantly, as if he was imprisoned by some invisible force.

He was unable to move or speak, and could only allow the touch from the divinity to penetrate into his flesh and soul.

At this moment, his consciousness seemed to have traveled through layers of time and space and fell into a deep fantasy.

A whisper sounded in his ears, a murmur coming from the depths of time, ancient, distant, and full of mysterious power, like the most primitive pulse of the universe gently trembling in his heart.

"As long as the world is still breathing, I will never be able to reach it." Finally, the words of the Elf Lord forced Brian's chaotic consciousness back to reality.

He said, "But you must remember, Brian, destiny never stops because of the stay of a certain existence. You have your way to go, and I am just a stop on your journey."

In the deep shadows of the Underdark, Corellon Larethian, the lord of the elves, stands quietly in a hazy fluorescence.

There is a hint of chill in the air, and time seems to have stopped here.

The surrounding trees are twisted and ancient, as if time itself has been swallowed by the abyss.

He sighed slightly, and his voice flowed out like a gentle breeze: "In fact, sometimes, I am powerless."

After saying this, the Elf Lord turned his back to Brian, and deliberately hid the fatigue and helplessness in his eyes that reflected the starlight, so as not to be discovered. "Because I have too many concerns in my heart." Corellon continued, his tone revealing a bit of heaviness, "The suffering of mortals, the disharmony of nature, and those tribesmen who once asked me for help but can no longer meet. Everything about them weighs heavily on my shoulders. I once embarked on the path of the transcendent, thinking that it would bring relief, but the further I went, I found that I had forgotten many important things."

The Elf Lord gazed into the darkness and nothingness in the distance that no longer belonged to his own domain.

Brian also subconsciously followed Corellon's gaze and looked into the darkness.

Then, he saw that as Corellon's gaze moved over, he seemed to see countless small villages shining with the light of life and hope, gurgling streams, the warm earth like spring, and the starry night sky.

"The more I want to transcend all this, the more I feel bound." Corellon said softly, seemingly talking to Brian, but in fact more like talking to himself.

"Sometimes, I doubt whether this responsibility is really what I desire to pursue. But every time night falls and every time I see the bright moon rising, I can't help but miss those joys and laughter. I hope I can save them, but the power always seems to slip away at the critical moment."

"Brian, I thought I could rise above the troubles of this world. However, over the years, the things I care about have become heavier and heavier. They are like a cage, binding me to this gloomy place."

When He spoke, everything around Him seemed to pause, and the creatures hiding in the darkness stopped moving, but just listened quietly to the struggle deep in the heart of this Lord God.

"I once made a vow to the stars to transcend the trivialities of the material world, but when I see you believers, I cannot give up the responsibility and care. The fate of each of you touches my heart, like an invisible thread, tightly entangling my soul."

Corellon raised his hand, and an inconspicuous seed broke out of its shell and sprouted at a speed visible to the naked eye, eventually turning into a delicate and beautiful little flower.

This humble wild flower is like a symbol of life and magic bestowed by Corellon, and is also part of the countless sacrifices and hopes he has woven together over thousands of years.

"When night falls, life here trembles with fear, but I can only bear it silently. I began to doubt my choice: What does a transcendent person look like? Is it to stay away from pain or to bear everything? Or is it a balance between the two?"

Corellon's tone became heavy and confused. "However, at this moment, I am more like a lonely traveler wandering in the darkness. With every step I take, I feel the invisible yet real web of material and emotional interweaving under my feet. I don't know how far I can go, but these concerns keep pulling me into the abyss, making me go further and further on this road."

After saying this, before Brian could digest it completely, the figure of the Elf Lord began to gradually blur and merge into the light and shadow, leaving only a faint echo that lingered in Brian's ears for a long time: "When you reach your end, ask me this question again."

As soon as he finished speaking, the figure of the Elf God disappeared completely.

Brian came back to his senses and looked towards the place where the Elf God disappeared.

As He disappeared, an inconspicuous dark red crystal, gleaming with a glimmer of light, fell to the ground.

"Could this be some reward that the Elf God left for me before he left?" Brian's face lit up with joy, and he subconsciously wanted to pick up the crystal.

But what he didn't expect was that as soon as he used magic to make the crystal float in the air, he saw dense cracks appearing on the surface of the crystal at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Seeing this, Brian's expression changed drastically, and he was almost scared silly.

Then, he cursed inwardly, opened the portal without hesitation, and disappeared in the blink of an eye. (End of this chapter)
