Chapter 1556 You Can Take a Bullet for Me! (Please continue reading!)
Upon seeing the notice for assistance on television, Shen Jiawen abruptly sat up from the sofa. She picked up her phone, dialed a few numbers, then paused, hesitated for a moment, and quickly deleted them.
She put her phone aside, peeled off her face mask and tossed it on the coffee table, then quickly walked into the bedroom in her pajamas.
Fifteen minutes later, Shen Jiawen had changed into an outfit for going out, picked up her suitcase, left the villa, and walked to the BMW that Fu Guosheng had bought for her.
She stuffed her suitcase into the trunk of the BMW, opened the car door, sat in the driver's seat, and tossed her Chanel handbag onto the passenger seat.
Just as she was about to start the car, a large black object reached out from the back seat and pressed firmly against her temple.
Immediately afterwards, a very familiar voice drifted from behind:
"Sister-in-law, where are you going?"
Shen Jiawen froze. When she saw the face clearly in the rearview mirror, she couldn't help but let out a long breath, patting her chest with her hand, her voice filled with reproach and lingering fear:
You scared me to death!
Sitting in the back seat of the car was Hua Shier, the wanted man who had just been on TV.
With one hand holding a gun, Hua Shier unceremoniously grabbed the handbag on the passenger seat with the other, opened the compartment, and pulled out a passport.
He glanced down at the cover, a mocking smile playing on his lips:
"Damn, sister-in-law, are you trying to run away?"
"What's that saying again—'My sister-in-law and I are of one heart,' but she's playing tricks on me, isn't she...'"
He abruptly stopped mid-sentence, his smile vanishing, his expression turning ferocious, his voice filled with suppressed anger:
"Scar Rat and Han Fuhu wanted to kill me, so I killed them and came back to find you. But as soon as I walked in, I saw you trying to run away!"
The gun barrel was pressed against Shen Jiawen's temple again.
"My dear sister-in-law, did you betray me?"
Shen Jiawen's face instantly showed astonishment, and she blurted out:
"What? Scarface Rat and Han Fuhu are going to attack you? How is that possible!"
Hua Shier completely ignored her words, and suddenly raised her voice:
"Stop talking nonsense! Tell me, why are you targeting me?"
"Tianlong, believe me, I really didn't!"
Shen Jiawen exclaimed hastily, her words rapid and urgent: "I still want to make money with you through smuggling, to make lots and lots of money, and then we'll buy a small island overseas. I want to live with you, I want to have your children—"
"Grass."
Hua Shier chuckled and interrupted her, "Do you want to live with me, or with Han Fuhu?"
Shen Jiawen raised three fingers, her voice tense as if making a vow:
"Tianlong, believe me! I swear to God, if I let Han Fuhu and Scarface deal with you, may I die a horrible death! I only found out about their plans to target you just now from what you said!"
She spoke with great skill—she swore an oath only regarding 'this matter tonight'.
Hua Shier scoffed inwardly, seeing through the woman's pretense.
Of course, how long have they known each other? He himself wouldn't believe that this woman was completely devoted to him.
Moreover, regardless of whether Shen Jiawen makes this vow or not, just because she was involved in smuggling goods within China, her fate is already sealed—she will die a horrible death.
Yes, that's what Hua Shier said.
Hua Shier's tense expression relaxed slightly at just the right moment, but he didn't move the gun away and continued to press for answers:
"Since your sister-in-law doesn't know about this, why are you running away?"
Shen Jiawen breathed a sigh of relief and quickly explained:
"Tianlong, don't you know? There was a notice on TV just now saying you're suspected of murder. I was so scared when I saw it, so I wanted to go out and hide for a while until you contacted me."
Hua Shier suddenly realized what was happening, and immediately slammed his pistol hard against the back of the passenger seat, making a dull thud.
"Holy crap, that female cop actually repaid kindness with enmity!"
"What female cop?" Shen Jiawen was stunned, her confusion genuine.
Hua Shier explained through gritted teeth:
"Do you remember when Scarface said he caught a little stray cat during dinner? That was a female cop!"
Shen Jiawen's expression changed from confusion to surprise and doubt.
"The undercover agent that Scar Rat killed was this female cop's fiancé. She somehow found out Scar Rat's girlfriend's address, went to investigate, and was caught red-handed by Scar Rat, who had returned to Guangzhou. He was then tied up and taken to that fishing village warehouse."
Hua Shier became increasingly angry as he spoke, his speech becoming rapid:
"Those two bastards, Scarface and Han Fuhu, tricked me into going there just to make it look like I was going to die with the female cop! It was because they were dawdling around figuring out how to set up the scene that I had a chance to turn the tables!"
As he said this, he suddenly had another moment of clarity:
“I understand! Scar Rat’s goal is to use me to divert the police’s attention. Han Fuhu wants to get rid of me because he sees me as an obstacle. He wants to cooperate with you himself!”
"Those two bastards, I should kill them!"
After hearing these words, Shen Jiawen's doubts were largely dispelled.
Because her original target for cooperation was Han Fuhu, and she had even hinted at this intention to him, she later gave up the idea of cooperating with Han Fuhu after meeting the younger and more capable Yu Tianlong.
If Han Fuhu was so intent on killing Yu Tianlong, he certainly had that motive.
Hua Twelve continued angrily:
"I was fighting those two bastards when that female cop had a chance to escape. She must have gotten my information from their conversation, otherwise the police wouldn't have been able to locate me so quickly. If it weren't for me, she would be dead already. Damn it, you bitch, you repay kindness with enmity!"
Shen Jiawen was a college graduate with a high IQ. She quickly processed the information Hua Shier had given her and came to a conclusion—Yu Tianlong was in a very dangerous situation, and the fire could burn her at any moment.
We must cut ties with him.
She immediately pulled a bank card from her purse and handed it behind her back:
“Tianlong, you can’t stay in Yangcheng anymore. You killed Han Fuhu, and the police will definitely check the surveillance footage of our meal. They’ll find me soon.”
She shoved the card into Hua Shier's hand, speaking quickly and steadily, as if arranging a way out for him:
"The PIN for this card is 666888, and there's a million in it. Take this money and go into hiding for a while."
All she wanted to do now was get rid of Hua Shier and then disappear immediately, hiding for a while before making further plans.
Hua Shier put the card into his pocket, then tilted his head:
"One million is too little, what can it do?"
Shen Jiawen sighed, her tone carrying just the right amount of helplessness:
"This million is all my savings."
Hua Shier blurted out, "Guess whether I believe you or not?"
A drug lord's woman might spend more than a million dollars a month.
You're saying this is all your possessions? Burning newspapers at a grave—you're kidding me.
Anyway, Hua Twelve doesn't believe it.
Shen Jiawen looked somewhat taken aback: "Tianlong, what did you say?"
Hua Twelve laughed jokingly:
“I said, I’m really sorry to have taken all your belongings. You’ve been so good to me, so I’ve decided to take you with me.”
Shen Jiawen felt as if her heart had been squeezed, but she forced a smile and advised:
"Tianlong, listen to me. I'm just a weak woman. Following you will only be a burden. If you run away, you'll have to take care of me. Besides, I'm good at spending money; that million will be gone in no time."
Hua Twelve said solemnly:
“It’s alright. For your deep affection for me, sister-in-law, I can overcome any difficulty. If we run out of money, we’ll just rob someone and become a pair of outlaws on the run. That wouldn’t be bad either. You’re so good to me, even if I die, I, Yu Tianlong, will die with you.”
These words moved Shen Jiawen so much that her lips twitched into a smile that looked like she was crying:
"Tianlong, I know you love your sister-in-law, but I can't run fast, and I'll really be a burden to you. Your sister-in-law hopes you can live a good life."
Hua Shier was also moved, his voice filled with sincerity:
"If that's the case, then you should definitely stay with me, sister-in-law. With your big pectoral muscles, you could even take a bullet for me in a pinch, which would increase my chances of survival. If we get surrounded, I can use you as a hostage, and those cops wouldn't care if you lived or died, would they?"
Shen Jiawen's face darkened completely. She opened her mouth, wanting to say a few more words. Just then, the sound of police sirens came from outside the villa area, growing louder as they approached.
Hua Shier's expression changed:
"Damn it, the cops arrived so fast, I must have been caught on camera by the Skynet system when I arrived!" He pointed his gun at Shen Jiawen: "Sister-in-law, you go to the passenger seat, I'll drive."
Shen Jiawen had no choice but to move to the passenger seat.
Hua Shier didn't get out of the car. He simply flipped over from the back seat to the driver's seat, started the car, and drove towards the entrance of the residential area.
A roadblock has been set up at the intersection outside the villa area, and several police cars with flashing lights are checking passing vehicles one by one, clearly believing that Hua Shier is in the vicinity.
When it was the BMW's turn, Hua Shier floored the accelerator, and the car roared past the checkpoint, speeding away amidst Shen Jiawen's screams.
But that wasn't all. Almost immediately, police sirens followed, and several police cars could be seen relentlessly pursuing them in the rearview mirror, their red and blue lights flashing alternately, making them very conspicuous and glaring.
Shen Jiawen gripped the handrail with one hand, turned half her body to look back, and her voice trembled:
"Tianlong, they've caught up!"
Hua Shier floored the accelerator, and the BMW weaved through the traffic on the street at an incredible speed.
While turning the steering wheel, he didn't forget to comfort Shen Jiawen:
"Don't worry, sister-in-law, I, Yu Tianlong, will live and die with you."
Shen Jiawen was almost in tears. Who the hell wants to live and die with you? Where the hell are you, Lao Fu? What the hell am I going to do now that I regret it?!
But it's too late to say anything now that we're already on the wrong path.
At the intersection, Hua Shier suddenly pulled the handbrake and swerved, the rear of the car swinging sideways around the corner, the tires leaving a charred arc on the ground.
He released the handbrake, accelerated, and straightened the steering wheel in one smooth motion, leaving the police cars far behind on the other side of the intersection, blocked by traffic. As the BMW accelerated, the sirens gradually faded and eventually disappeared into the night.
He turned to Shen Jiawen and asked loudly:
"Sister-in-law, do you know of any safe houses or places that no one else knows about? Let's hide there for a bit!"
Having no other choice, Shen Jiawen gave an address and then hurriedly added:
“This car is too conspicuous; it must have been spotted by surveillance cameras. To shake off the police, we have to switch cars.”
"No problem."
Hua Shier found a park, parked the BMW in a dark spot by the roadside, and took Shen Jiawen into the park under the cover of night. To evade the Skynet system, going through the green belts and parks was the most direct way, especially at night, when it was less likely to be detected.
The two crossed the entire park and climbed over the fence on the other side.
Hua Shier told Shen Jiawen to wait behind a big tree while he went to get the car. Less than five minutes later, the roar of an engine grew louder as it approached.
He returned riding a fiery chariot, the very same NSR that Andy Lau rode in "A Moment of Romance," its body gleaming coldly under the streetlights.
He tossed his head at Shen Jiawen: "Sister-in-law, get in the car!"
This fiery chariot was, of course, his own, which he had taken out of his spatial storage when Shen Jiawen wasn't looking.
Shen Jiawen really didn't want to go with him, but she had no choice but to climb onto the back seat and reluctantly grab his waist with both hands.
Hua Twelve twisted the accelerator to the floor, and the blazing chariot roared into the depths of the night like an arrow released from a bow.
A detached villa by the sea. The two men entered in the dark, neither of them touching the light switch.
Shen Jiawen leaned against the wall, letting out a long breath, her voice filled with the exhaustion of surviving a disaster:
"This is a safe house that Lao Fu prepared. I originally thought we wouldn't need it. There are no surveillance cameras around here, so the police shouldn't be able to find this place for a while."
She walked to the liquor cabinet, picked out a bottle of whiskey, poured herself a small half-glass, and drank it all in one gulp.
The liquor burned down her throat, and she closed her eyes. It was clear that the woman was extremely depressed.
"Tianlong, have you thought about what we should do next?"
Hua Shier walked over, picked up the bottle, took a swig, put the bottle down, exhaled a breath of alcohol, and then spoke:
“Your one million isn’t enough. We need to raise a large sum of money and then take a ship to Southeast Asia.”
"From now on, we won't do the shipping business domestically anymore. We'll focus on Eastern Europe and also expand into the Southeast Asian market."
He paused, then looked at Shen Jiawen, "By the way, you can handle the goods, right?"
Shen Jiawen said irritably, "I've given you all my possessions, where am I supposed to get money from?"
Hua Shier rummaged through the liquor cabinet and found a box of cigars. He took one out, lit it, and the flickering light illuminated his face in the darkness.
He exhaled a puff of smoke, his tone nonchalant:
“I’ve thought it all out for you. You should know about Lao Fu’s warehouse, right? We’re not planning to come back this time, so let’s get rid of the remaining goods in the warehouse as soon as possible. I think now that Han Fuhu is dead, the remaining bosses will definitely be interested in this batch of goods.”
He tapped his cigar-holding fingers in the air, his thoughts flowing more and more smoothly as he spoke:
"Furthermore, we can't just throw away the domestic market we've given up. In the next couple of days, you should call a meeting with those bigwigs and we'll transfer the mainland channels through an auction, letting them bid on-site, with the highest bidder winning."
Shen Jiawen was somewhat skeptical. How much money could they possibly make from those auction channels?
What Hua Shier said next completely overturned her understanding.
“I’m going to get a batch of weapons. When those bosses arrive, we’ll force them to transfer money on the spot. Anyone who refuses will be killed, and then we’ll rob them of all the money they’ve made from smuggling goods over the years.”
He flicked his cigarette ash, his tone as indifferent as if he were asking what to eat today:
"I think this money is definitely not a small amount. When we go to sea, even if we can't open up the market, we'll have enough money to live comfortably for the rest of our lives."
After listening, Shen Jiawen remained silent for a long time.
She had to admit that this kid was much bolder and more ruthless than she had imagined; he was crazy, vicious, and didn't follow any of the rules of the underworld.
But ironically, this plan sounds quite feasible.
The next day, when Shen Jiawen woke up, she found herself alone in bed.
She put on a coat and went out the door, only to see Hua Shier sitting on the living room sofa watching TV. On the morning news screen, two wanted posters were displayed side by side, very eye-catching.
One photo was still of Hua Shier, and the other was clearly of herself.
Shen Jiawen felt a buzzing in her head, and her scalp tingled as if she had been electrocuted.
Now she's completely in cahoots with him, and there's no way to break free.
Hearing footsteps, Hua Shier turned around and glanced at her, his tone as natural as if he were saying good morning:
"Go call those leaders, stabilize morale, and then arrange a meeting with them to carry out our plan."
Shen Jiawen stood at the bedroom door, her lips moved as if she had made a great decision, and finally said the words that Hua Shier had been waiting for:
"Tianlong, I have a ship in international waters. I'll send the ship my location tonight and have them pick us up and let us get on board."
Hua Shier raised an eyebrow: "You have a ship in international waters? What kind of ship?"
Shen Jiawen shook her head, her expression carrying a hint of mystery:
"I can't tell you now, you'll find out once you get on the ship."
Hua Shier stared at her for two seconds, then nodded:
"Why didn't you say so earlier? I was wondering how to contact the smuggler to get out. Since you have a boat, we can take your boat out to sea."
As night fell, Shen Jiawen took out a new cell phone that Hua Shier had never seen before and sent a coordinate to the ship. The two left the villa and waited at a secluded pier near the seaside.
At one o'clock in the morning, the roar of an engine could be heard on the sea. A speedboat cut through the waves from the darkness.
Someone on the speedboat shone a flashlight toward the shore, the beam sweeping across Hua Shier and Shen Jiawen's faces.
Hua Shier cupped his hands around his mouth and shouted, "Which department are you from?"
Shen Jiawen was startled and hurriedly shouted:
"Don't shoot, it's me," she said, flashing a coded signal with her flashlight, the beam flashing short and long a few times in the night sky.
The speedboat soon docked, and Hua Shier clearly saw that there were three people on board, all carrying weapons.
