Chapter 1725 Master and Disciple Break Off Relationship, Black Bear Spirit Reports!

"Brother, just say what you're thinking." The black bear spirit waved his hand, looking around with self-satisfaction and displaying his heroic spirit.

Qin Yao smiled and said, "The so-called treasure is essentially the value that the general public assigns to an object."

If you keep a treasure hidden away and never take it out in your whole life, and no one else even knows about it, then how is that any different from collecting a stubborn rock?
Therefore, I suggest that Brother Black Bear hold a Buddhist robe assembly to display that magnificent robe to our fellow practitioners, so as not to betray its reputation as a treasure trove.

The black bear spirit seemed to understand something, and said, "Brother is right. I will go back and discuss it with my master."

Qin Yao nodded and said, "Brother, please go ahead. I will wait for your news here. If your master agrees, all will be well. Then I will immediately arrange for you to invite fellow cultivators."

"Thank you, my dear brother."

The black bear spirit was filled with gratitude, and the way he addressed him changed from "brother" to "virtuous younger brother".

Qin Yao waved his hand and said, "We are sworn brothers, sharing both honor and disgrace, so there's no need for thanks."

"Wait for me to come back." The black bear spirit raised his hand and patted his shoulder, then transformed into a black wind and rushed straight towards the stone gate.

Qin Yao watched him rush into the cave, a thought suddenly flashing through his mind:
If Jinchi does not agree to convene the Buddhist Robe Conference, how can this dilemma be resolved most efficiently?

Inside the cave.

In front of the desk.

Upon hearing the Black Bear Spirit's proposal about the Buddhist Robe Assembly, Jin Chi decisively said, "I disagree, and I strongly oppose holding any Buddhist Robe Assembly!"

“Master, just as Ling Xuzi said, if the world cannot see you wearing the brocade cassock, what is the meaning of all the effort and sacrifice you have made to obtain this treasure?”

To put it bluntly, many years later, when your physical body passes away, even if you are still draped in a brocade robe, what meaning will it hold for you?

Jin Chi waved his hands repeatedly: "Of course I won't hide this treasure for a lifetime, but I don't plan to take it out of the Black Wind Cave until the success or failure of Tang Xuanzang's pilgrimage can be definitively judged."

"My disciple, don't be in a hurry. As the saying goes, good things come to those who wait. The suggestion of the Buddhist Robe Assembly is excellent. It's not that I don't want to hold it, it's just that it can't be done now."

Under his earnest persuasion, the Black Bear Spirit, though unwilling, had no choice but to compromise, saying dejectedly, "I understand, I'll go out and inform Ling Xuzi now."

Jin Chi nodded slightly: "Better safe than sorry. Trust me, you won't go wrong."

The black bear spirit immediately walked out of the cave and came step by step to Qin Yao. He sighed and said, "Brother, I'm sorry, my master said that the Buddhist Robe Assembly can be held, but not now. When the time is right, I will definitely inform you first."

“If that’s the case, then there’s nothing we can do,” Qin Yao said quietly.

The black bear spirit nodded, about to say a few more polite words, when he suddenly saw his sworn brother open his mouth, and a golden vortex seemed to be hidden inside.

Before he could even question it, a powerful suction force suddenly erupted from the vortex, transforming his body into a streak of light and drawing him straight into it...

Inside the cave.

After seeing this scene through the Xuan Guang Mirror, Jin Chi's head suddenly buzzed, and his scalp felt like it was about to explode.

He thought he had been very cautious and careful, but he never expected that the current situation would develop in a way that exceeded his expectations!

Just as he was still reeling from the shock, outside the cave, Qin Yao flashed with golden light and transformed back into his original form.

This scene shocked Jin Chi once again. He had thought that Ling Xuzi might be Sun Wukong in disguise, or some great god invited by Sun Wukong in disguise, but he never thought that his true form was Tang Xuanzang.

Did Xuanzang really possess such magical powers?
If you have such magical power, why would you need any Dharma protectors?

"Jin Chi, I have captured the Black Bear Spirit. Quickly hand over the Brocade Kasaya, and I can guarantee that I will not harm your life."

Qin Yao silently channeled his magical power, his voice resounding throughout the cave like a morning bell and evening drum.

Jin Chi tried his best to calm his chaotic thoughts and said softly, "If this old monk is determined not to go out, what good will it do you even if you capture the Black Bear Demon?"

Qin Yao said, "Don't have any illusions. Why do you think I can answer so fluently in front of the Black Bear Spirit?"
To tell you the truth, I consulted Ling Xuzi's memories and that's how I learned about his relationship with the Black Bear Spirit.

In other words, if you refuse to cooperate, I can easily find a way in by accessing the Black Bear Spirit's memories.

Upon hearing this, Jin Chi was terrified and his body trembled violently.

What he was most worried about wasn't the other party breaking down the door, but rather that Tang Sanzang would see his master, the Buddha of the East, in the Black Bear Spirit's memories, which would be a huge problem.

Thinking of this, he had no choice but to suppress his reluctance, take off the brocade cassock from his own body, hold it in one hand, open the door with the other, and slowly walk to Tang Sanzang: "You win... I will give you the cassock, and you release the Black Bear Spirit."

Qin Yao slowly raised his right hand, and the brocade cassock flew from the other's hand, soaring into his palm.
“You have no right to bargain with me. In fact, the reason I didn’t kill you directly is firstly because I didn’t want my fellow disciples to kill each other and gain a reputation for cruelty.”

Secondly, you did have some merit in building the Guanyin Temple and you also helped the Bodhisattva develop many followers. For the sake of the Bodhisattva, I cannot kill you.

"If that's not the case, do you really think that obstructing the westward journey will come without consequences?"

Seeing his righteous and awe-inspiring appearance, Jin Chi suddenly felt a surge of bitterness in his heart and said through gritted teeth:

"You say it's for the sake of the Bodhisattva? If it were really for the sake of the Bodhisattva, you should give me the position of the pilgrim and the brocade cassock!"

Qin Yao chuckled and said, "On what grounds?"

"Just because my contributions to the Bodhisattva are greater than yours!"

Jin Chi questioned, "Tang Sanzang, shouldn't you be worshipping the Buddha Tathagata?"
What have you done for the Bodhisattva?
Although we Jinchi people are a bit greedy, Guanyin Temple is a real and legitimate place, isn't it?

The believers who came from Guanyin Temple are genuine, right?
Why do you get all the benefits while I get nothing?
Tell me, is this fair?

"That's fair!" Suddenly, a beam of white light fell from the sky, and a lotus platform appeared from within the light. On the lotus platform was Guanyin, dressed in white.

Jin Chi's eyes widened suddenly, never expecting that he had actually summoned Guanyin.

But after realizing what had happened, he not only lost his reverence but was also filled with resentment: "Bodhisattva, where is the fairness? Is it because he is the reincarnation of Jin Chanzi? Is it because he has the background of being a disciple of the Buddha?"

"Greetings, Bodhisattva." Qin Yao ignored his shouts and bowed.

Guanyin nodded in response, then said to Jinchi, "Leaving aside the background, do you know what Xuanzang sacrificed to obtain the identity of the pilgrim?"

"What did you sacrifice?" Jin Chi asked.

"You gave up the position of Grand Preceptor of the Tang Dynasty and the power to oversee Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism and other religions. Do you know what that means?"

This means that, in the entire Tang Dynasty, no one except the emperor could wield more power than Xuanzang.

But in order to obtain the scriptures, he abandoned all of these, leaving only the name of the Imperial Brother. "Guanyin said.

Jin Chi was still unconvinced: "What he can do, I may be able to do as well."

“You really can’t do it.” Guanyin shook her head, then changed the subject: “Do you remember many years ago, there was a little girl who wanted to exchange a lotus flower for a golden statue in the temple?”

Jin Chi was stunned, then his eyes widened suddenly: "That little girl..."

"That's right, that little girl was me in disguise. Jin Chi, I've seen everything you've done, and I even considered you first."

But you haven't grasped the essence of my Buddhist teachings. You can't even part with a golden statue, let alone the authority of a national preceptor.

"That's why I said you can't do it," Guanyin said. Jinchi was speechless.

"Things have come to this, so take care of yourself. All the good deeds you've accumulated over the past two hundred years have been squandered on your greed," Guanyin said again.

Jin Chi seemed not to hear anything, standing still like a statue.

Having said all that needed to be said, Guanyin then looked at Qin Yao and said, "Xuanzang, release the Black Bear Spirit."

Qin Yao didn't covet the black bear demon's black bear paw, so he simply spat it out of the dark abyss.

"So it was you. I knew Ling Xuzi wouldn't betray me."

The moment he saw him, the black bear spirit flew into a rage, and his hands quickly transformed into a pair of black bear paws.

"Black Bear Spirit." Guanyin suddenly called out from behind him.

The black bear spirit glanced at it quickly and was immediately dumbfounded: "Bodhisattva?"

"Black Bear Spirit, why are you helping Jinchi steal the cassock?" Guanyin asked.

The black bear spirit pursed his lips and said, "Master said that the brocade cassock should have been his all along..."

"Jinchi, this brocade robe should have been yours all along!" Guanyin asked.

Jin Chi lowered his eyes and said, "That was because of my greed; I tricked the Black Bear Spirit."

"Master!" the black bear spirit exclaimed in disbelief.

“Tell me the truth about anything else you’ve lied to him about,” Guanyin said solemnly.

Jin Chi let out a long breath and said, "There are many, too many to count."

Black Bear Spirit: "..."

Guanyin said meaningfully, "Let's get to the important parts."

Jin Chi had no choice but to admit: "The most important thing is the master-disciple relationship. He turned to Buddhism because a high monk risked his life to save him, but the monks he met later were all afraid of him and did not look like high monks at all. Therefore, he kept looking for a high monk to become his disciple until he met me."

He thought I wasn't afraid of his true form, but in reality I was so afraid I couldn't walk. However, after he kowtowed and became my disciple, I thought he would be of great use to me, so I accepted him as my apprentice.

In fact, over the years, I haven't taught him any profound Buddhist teachings. I don't even have that stuff myself.”

Upon hearing this, the Black Bear Spirit was utterly dumbfounded, as if the sky had fallen.

Guanyin gently said, "Black Bear Spirit, it's not too late for you to wake up now!"

The black bear spirit seemed to awaken from a dream, and said to Jin Chi with a complicated expression, "Since this master-disciple relationship is built on deception and lies, it has no meaning. Jin Chi, from now on, our relationship is over."

Jin Chi: "..."

He knew that Guanyin was probably waiting for him to say those words.

It was precisely because of this realization that he cooperated and revealed the details, just in order to escape the fate of being held accountable later.

As he expected, Guanyin then said, "Your karmic ties have been severed, congratulations! Black Bear Spirit, come with me. From now on, you will be the guardian deity of my Purple Bamboo Forest."

“Bodhisattva, I have something to report.” The black bear spirit nodded and suddenly said.

Jin Chi's heart skipped a beat, and he whispered, "Black Bear Spirit, be careful what you say! Some things are best kept in your heart; once spoken, they will bring utter disaster."

Guanyin said, "Black Bear Spirit, don't listen to him. Say whatever you want. If the sky falls, I will hold it up for you."

The black bear spirit let out a long breath and said, "Thank you, Bodhisattva... What I want to say is that Jinchi became a disciple of the Buddha of the East, and his obstruction of the westward journey was at the Buddha's behest."

Jin Chi: "..."

It’s over.

Whether the Black Bear Spirit will suffer retribution is hard to say, but Guanyin will definitely not let him off the hook.

Even though she had no intention of taking responsibility before!
At this moment, Guanyin slowly narrowed her eyes and focused her gaze on the golden pool.

Jin Chi felt as if two mountains had suddenly appeared on his shoulders, and his waist had unconsciously bent over. He could only silently pray in his heart that Guanyin would be merciful and not take his life.

As for the Buddha of the East appearing to protect himself...

He dared not even think about such a possibility. If Donglai Buddha could do such a thing, he would not have secretly accepted him as a disciple!
“If that’s the case… Jinchi, you should come back to the Purple Bamboo Grove in the South China Sea with me.” A moment later, just as Jinchi was about to kneel down and beg for mercy because he couldn’t withstand the pressure, Guanyin suddenly said.

As soon as he finished speaking, the physical pressure that Jin Chi could hardly bear suddenly dissipated, but at the same time it brought him immense psychological pressure.

Shall we go back to the Purple Bamboo Forest together?
Putting everything else aside, doesn't this mean I'll have to spend every day with the Black Bear Spirit?

What if this idiot gets angry and kills me?
"Buddha, I..."

"Don't say anything, just come with me." Guanyin interrupted directly, and a large cloud of mist suddenly emerged from the lotus platform beneath her feet, forming a white cloud.

The black bear spirit leaped onto the white cloud first, looking at Jinchi with a half-smile: "Master Jinchi, let's go, I have so much to say to you."

Jin Chi's cheek twitched, and he struggled to climb the clouds step by step, but deliberately stood on the other side of Guanyin, quite far away from the black bear spirit.

"Xuanzang, you should continue your journey westward," Guanyin instructed.

"Thank you, Bodhisattva." Qin Yao bowed with a smile on his face.

This is perhaps the most perfect ending. He will not be attacked, and Jin Chi will ultimately not become a hidden danger left to him by Donglai Buddha!

Lean less.

Holding a brocade cassock, Qin Yao strode into the cave where the gods and demons were. Erlang Shen, Xiaotianquan, Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, Sha Wujing, the White Dragon Horse, the Little Lark, and even Tingdi all turned to look at him. Although their expressions varied, most of them were approving.

"The cassock has been retrieved. Many thanks to Erlang Shen, Xiaotianquan, Xiaoyunque, and Tingdi. Without your great assistance, this matter would certainly not have been so easy." Qin Yao said with a smile, meeting the stares of the crowd.

Erlang Shen waved his hand and said, "It was nothing, Holy Monk, no need to thank me."

The little lark chimed in, "I'm quite useful too, aren't I? Could I travel west with you?"

“The one who is useful is Tingdi, not you,” Sun Wukong said bluntly.

The little lark roared, "What's the difference between you and me? In the end, aren't we still stuck in this cave, waiting with the holy monk to retrieve the robe?"

Sun Wukong: "..."

"The number of people on the pilgrimage is fixed and cannot be changed or added at will," Qin Yao said, trying to smooth things over. "So, Little Lark, Wukong isn't targeting you."

Little Lark sighed: "I wish he was just targeting me."

Qin Yao didn't say much, but simply clasped his hands together and said softly, "Erlang Shen, Little Skylark, it's time for us, master and disciple, to set off. Farewell, until we meet again..." (End of Chapter)
