Chapter 256 Heading to Hall 9
"Bahrain, how's it going? Got it done?" Roland asked, looking at Bahrain's figure.
"Yes, we're almost done packing. We should head to Hall Nine now!" Bahrain nodded firmly.
"There's a problem. Do we need to leave enough people here?" Roland asked with some concern, looking around. After all, these orcs could come back and attack this place at any time.
“I don’t think splitting up the forces is a good suggestion. We don’t have many people to begin with, and if we disperse and station them... we might be defeated one by one.” Bahrain shook his head, disapproving of the plan. After all, while the plan could ensure that the coalition forces occupied every stronghold, it would also increase the probability of being defeated one by one.
"Then forget it. Pushing it all the way through isn't a bad option either!" Roland shook his head and didn't insist.
“Let’s go! Dovenian heavy swordsmen, lead the way! Balin, I need some dwarves to show us the way!” Roland said.
“No problem, I’ll lead the way myself!” Bahrain patted his chest.
……
After passing through several long corridors and caves, a light suddenly appeared before their eyes, and a faint firelight flickered behind the stone door.
"We've arrived!" Bahrain swallowed hard, gripping his battle axe.
"Chirp chirp!" The piercing howls of goblins echoed faintly through the corridor, sounding particularly eerie in the deep underground city.
"There's an enemy!" Omske raised his fist, and everyone slowly stopped in their tracks.
"Lordaeron rangers, go scout ahead, but be careful not to get discovered!" Omske whispered, turning his head.
"My lord, I think it's unnecessary..." A Lordaeron ranger twitched his lips and helplessly raised his head, gesturing towards a corner.
Omske followed his gaze and looked up. He saw that the stone wall above the hall's stone door had been riddled with holes, and judging from the weathering marks, it must have been there for a long time. Most importantly, several goblins were peeking into the cave, peering at the allied forces. When they were discovered, they immediately screamed at the top of their lungs.
"Damn it! What bad luck! Forceful attack!" Roland covered his face.
"Whoosh whoosh whoosh!" The rangers of Lordaeron drew their bows in unison, sending each goblin to their deaths with incredible precision, as if they were using cheat codes.
"They're alert! Break down the gate! Let's rush in!" Omske made a decisive move, swinging his longsword. A black and white aura, like a bolt of lightning, flew out from the blade and struck the half-open stone gate. As dust and smoke scattered, the gate, several meters high, collapsed with a crash!
"Kill!" Roland drew his Dragon Slayer Sword and shouted fiercely, then charged ahead and disappeared into the dust!
"Your Highness! Wait!" Caslo hurriedly reached out to stop him, but missed.
"Bang!" Roland was sent flying backward at a speed even faster than when he charged.
"Cough cough!" Roland coughed up a mouthful of blood, his eyes filled with shock.
"Don't be impulsive! There's a damn giant troll inside!" Roland said, still shaken, looking at the pristine shield. "Roar!" A burly figure burst through the dust, wielding a massive club and sweeping across.
"Clang!" Several Dovenian heavy swordsmen together parried the powerful warhammer with their swords.
"Open!" They simultaneously exerted force with their wrists, lifting the giant ogre's warhammer and then charging forward. Several sharp greatswords pierced the giant ogre's abdomen one after another. As the swords rotated and were pulled out, the giant ogre, its intestines spilling out, quickly collapsed to the ground and died.
"Get through quickly! We can't be blocked at the entrance!" Balin urged. Familiar with the terrain, he knew that once they were blocked at the entrance, it would be difficult to get back in! The giant ogres were generally of a very high level; the one they had just encountered was at least Tier 3. If the entrance was blocked by these giant ogres, the allied forces would most likely have to use their lives to fill the gap...
"Fight! Sons of Turin! Ah!" Balin roared, gripping his battle axe and hacking away at the surging goblins. The goblins, with their thin arms and legs, were sliced cleanly and swiftly by Balin and his dwarven battle axes, like hot knives cutting through butter. With a single blow, man and armor were shattered! Seeing this, many goblins hesitated, intimidated by Balin's power and不敢前前 (不敢前前 is a phrase that doesn't translate directly, but it implies a fear of advancing). This gave the allied forces an opportunity. Soon, a large number of soldiers poured in, quickly clearing out the surrounding enemies and occupying the gate.
"We've taken the gate!" Balin said to Roland, panting heavily and leaning on his axe.
"Alright! Prepare to clear out the orcs in this hall!" Roland said to Balin, shield in hand. The goblins were putting up a fierce fight! And there were already orcs showing up here!
"Ah!" Suddenly, a city guard screamed in pain. It turned out that an orc hiding among the goblins had slashed his leg.
"Pfft!" The next second, a sharp steel spear emerged and pierced the orc's skull as easily as cutting tofu.
"Pay attention to formation! Watch out for the enemy! Orcs are hiding among the goblins! Be careful to spot them!" Caslo sheathed his spear, his eyes filled with worry.
"Holy Light!" Roland immediately began treating the wounded soldiers.
“The enemies are getting bigger and bigger!” Omske frowned, his grip on his sword tightening involuntarily.
"Fight! Sons of Turin! Reclaim our homeland!" Balin led his disciplined dwarven phalanx, relentlessly pressing down on the enemy. It was clear that the heavy losses of the last battle had taught the dwarves a painful lesson; they no longer recklessly displayed individual bravery, but instead adopted a more conservative and safer team-based approach, resulting in a significant increase in their defensive capabilities! Countless goblins and orcs crashed against the dwarven phalanx like black waves, but the dwarves remained unmoved, like a sturdy shore. Sharp dwarven battle axes and spears became a nightmare for the orcs and goblins. The giant trolls attempting to provide support were held back by the guerrilla tactics of the Lordaeron rangers. The cunning rangers consistently delivered arrows into the giant trolls' vulnerable spots—eyes, ears, and groins—keeping them pinned down by the rangers. The giant trolls, preoccupied with their own survival, naturally couldn't attend to the goblins and orcs being slaughtered by the combined forces of dwarves and humans.
"Awooo!" A giant troll, blinded by rage, shielded its head with its arms and rammed into the shield wall formed by the Dovenian heavy swordsmen.
"Watch out! Get out of the way!" Roland shouted in alarm.
"Roar!" The giant ogre roared, shoving away a swarm of goblins and orcs before crashing headfirst into the shield wall of the Dovenian heavy swordsman.
With a deafening crash, more than a dozen Dovenian heavy swordsmen were sent flying. A huge gap appeared in the shield wall, as if it had been chewed by a dog. Goblins and orcs immediately lit up and began to rush into the gap.
"Block the breach! Fight to the death! Hold on!" Omske shouted.
"Guards! Prepare to meet the enemy!" Roland drew his sword and shield.
"Advance!" Roland led the Royal Guards to block the way at the crucial moment.
"Kill!" A cold glint flashed in Roland's eyes. These orcs were playing with fire! They would understand the price of angering a king!
