Chapter 315 Iron Cavalry Tramples Through
Chapter 315 Iron Cavalry Tramples Through
"Clean up the battlefield!" Nearly five hundred iron cavalrymen were scattered across the northern wasteland. Omske directed them to clean up the battlefield, where they had just annihilated a small squad of orcs of several dozen men.
“We’re almost halfway across the Long Lake! We’ve already killed nearly a thousand orcs! Just how many orcs from the north have come south?” Ravian asked gravely, wiping the blood from his helmet.
"A rabble! Unorganized orcs can get through the despicable defenses of Lonely Mountain, but they're no match for a well-organized army!" Omske was unimpressed. Although the number of orcs in the North was large, their quality was extremely uneven! The armored orcs they encountered so far numbered less than a hundred.
“Don’t be careless. These Northern Orcs have the backing of Gambada Fortress! You don’t want our precious cavalry to be sacrificed in a place like this, do you?” Ravian frowned.
"Rest assured, I know what I'm doing. I won't put our precious soldiers in danger!" Omske nodded. He could already imagine the consequences if he sacrificed a few knights or cavalrymen here. King Roland would definitely chase him for two miles with his sword!
"Three miles ahead! An orc army! More than two hundred strong!" Holin rode up and said to Omsk.
"Prepare for battle!" Omsk raised his lance. It seemed that the situation in the North was even worse than he had imagined. They had encountered a group of orcs in such a short time.
……
"Dragon God! Have these bastards gone mad? They actually tried to stop a mixed regiment of five hundred cavalrymen?" Lavian tilted his head, looking incredulously at the dead orcs. The heavy iron hooves trampled their unprotected bodies. The Lagrange cavalrymen, who weighed more than a ton including their horses, could crush the orcs under their feet in an instant, breaking their bones and causing their intestines to rupture!
“They might be trying to form a defensive formation to block the cavalry charge…” Hollin said uncertainly as he approached Ravian.
"Leaving aside whether they can stop the knights, can they even stop the heavy cavalry?" Omske's eyes widened in disbelief. Where did they get the courage?
“Let’s go check out the River Valley! Hopefully, it hasn’t been breached yet!” Omsk shrugged helplessly.
"But I don't think King Bard's abilities would lead to that!" Omske reassured himself.
"Huh? Who called me?" Badr strolled over, holding a centaur's hand.
“Not you, Baron, but another king!” Omsk shook his head, telling Badr that he had misheard.
"Let's go! Let me see what surprises River Valley has in store for us!" Omske said loudly.
……
"Dragon God! Aren't they going to do anything about it?"
When Omske led the other soldiers to the outskirts of Vale, they saw scattered orcs roaming freely across the city. The soldiers on the city walls merely watched the orcs behaving indecently and made no attempt to open the city gates to intercept them.
"Kill them!" Omske spurred his horse forward, spear in hand, charging straight at the orcs. After all, letting these orcs pass would mean the flat plains of Swiftstream City.
"Kill!" Ravian followed closely behind, and the powerful Raglan cavalry scattered fiercely, quickly clearing out all the orcs they could see.
"...The Kingdom of Lagrange! The hero of light and shadow, Omsk, has come to pay his respects to King Bard!" Omsk stood at the foot of the River Valley and spoke with great vigor.
"Your Majesty, please wait! I will go and ask for instructions!" The soldiers on the city wall were all talking among themselves as they watched Omsk's surging battle aura. Only one commander on the city wall remained calm. He nodded to Omsk with neither arrogance nor servility and then disappeared from the city wall.
……
"What's wrong, Raven?" Bard was reviewing government documents, surrounded by piles of parchment. Countless decisions needed his approval. He rubbed his aching neck and looked at Commander Raven as he walked in.
"Your Highness, the Kingdom of Lagrange has sent a large number of its cavalry, who are currently outside the city. Their general, the hero of light and shadow, Omske, wishes to see you..." Raven said somewhat helplessly.
“Hmm? That makes sense… After all, we really didn’t fulfill our duties…” Bard thought for a moment and then understood. After all, his own despicable defense line was truly “touching”. Apart from those few strongholds, it had almost no ability to stop the orcs from crossing the border.
"So what do you mean?" Raven asked somewhat awkwardly, after all, he was indeed being dishonest. The original alliance had already divided the defense zones, and the Kingdom of Lagrang had kept its oath, blocking the northern expedition of the southern orc army like an iron wall, but he himself had been riddled with holes by the northern orcs.
"Go and see them. You can't just pretend you didn't hear them, can you?" Bard gave a wry smile, his eyes full of helplessness.
……
"Your Majesty Omske, I am Bard, the lord of the River Valley! Welcome!" As the saying goes, one cannot hit a smiling face, so Bard adopted a very humble attitude from the beginning, after all, this was his own fault.
“King Bard, I need an explanation! Does the original alliance still stand?” Omsk said coldly, gripping the butt of his gun.
“Of course, Your Majesty!” Bard nodded.
“If you don’t mind, you can come in and have a cup of hot tea. We can have a good chat!” Bard said sincerely from the city wall. As the saying goes, sincerity is the greatest weapon.
“No need. I only want to resolve this matter now. The large number of orcs moving south has seriously affected the safety of the kingdom’s people. The autumn harvest is approaching and the people need to come out to harvest the grain, but the orcs that you failed to stop have become a threat to them!” Omsk said loudly, pressing his gun.
“I’m sorry… it’s our responsibility, but as you can see, the River Valley is not capable of stopping those mad Northern Orcs… the garrison at the five outposts in the north has already overwhelmed us… there are less than a hundred soldiers left in the city. I hope to gain your and the Kingdom of Lagrange’s understanding, Your Majesty!” Bard bowed deeply.
“Good heavens…” Ravian covered his face and sighed. He didn’t think King Bad would lie about this. He only needed to send a soldier in to check, after all, the Valley State was such a tiny place.
"..." Omske was stunned. He had thought of countless possibilities, but he never expected the answer to be so simple!
"What about the dwarves?" Omske asked after a moment of silence.
“They also have a thousand-strong army stationed on the northern slope of Lonely Mountain, but the defensive line is too long and their mobility is insufficient... so there are many gaps in the defense line.” King Bard came down from the city wall and rode his horse out of the city gate.
"The dwarves are going this far?" Omsk asked in surprise. After all, the dwarves had only been able to muster a little over two thousand warriors since they reclaimed Lonely Mountain, but now the dwarves were willing to use half of their soldiers to guard the northern frontier. This made Omsk and the others feel a deep sense of respect.
