Chapter 449 The Interrupted Wedding Preparations

Chapter 449 The Interrupted Wedding Preparations
“By the way, it’s good that you’re back. I’m getting ready to prepare for my wedding with Nyx!” Roland said, looking at Renault.

"Hmm, what does your marriage have to do with me? When does the banquet start?" Renault tilted his head.

“…Damn it…did I ask you to eat at the banquet? I asked you to help with the preparations!” Roland gritted his teeth, his eyes flashing with anger.

"...I've never been married, how would I know?" Renault said aggrievedly after a few seconds of silence.

"Can't you come up with some ideas?" Roland said, exasperated.

"What am I plotting? Why don't you go find Yunfeng? Isn't he the strategist of our kingdom?" Renault asked, bewildered.

"If only that guy would be willing to make a move, he keeps refusing me with excuses about being too busy, and now he's burdened with all the domestic affairs..." Roland said, distressed.

"That depends on what you think. I can only offer limited reference. After all, you don't want history books to record the wedding of King Lagrange and the Queen as something to laugh at, do you?" Renault's eyes darted around.

"..." Roland sighed helplessly. Sure enough, discussing this with a group of single people was completely unreliable.

"Alright, that's enough. You can eat slowly. I'll go ask old man Adile. Boss, bring him another steamer of buns!" Roland stood up.

"Take care, Your Highness!" Renault waved.

……

"What? Planning a wedding? Shouldn't you be handling this yourself?" Adile was slightly shocked by Roland's words.

"Of course! I definitely have to do it myself! The problem is I have no experience and don't know how! I'm not familiar with the etiquette and precautions for the wedding..." Roland looked troubled.

“Tsk! That’s true…” Adile scratched his head. He thought about how the Kingdom of Lagrange was in dire need of reconstruction, with many things incomplete, the entire noble system incomplete, not to mention wedding arrangements.

“You can ask Lance; he has the potential to become a court noble. Or ask that young man Apophis Breonna; the King’s Landing family’s heritage should include knowledge in these areas!” Adile suggested.

“That makes sense!” Roland rubbed his chin, agreeing with Adile’s assessment.

"I'll go and discuss it with them!" Roland's face lit up with joy.

King Roland was quite helpless. Other kings would have a grand procession of red bridal processions when they married their queens, but when he married his queen, he didn't even have a single person in charge. Just thinking about it gave him a huge headache.

……

"Come on! Accompany me to Delwin to find Lance and the others." Roland had just entered the castle when he saw Caslo coming towards him. Without saying a word, Roland dragged Caslo out.

"Wait! Your Highness! Something important has happened!" Caslo quickly grabbed Roland and kept him there.

"What's wrong?" Roland asked unhappily. With the dead of winter approaching and the wedding date just around the corner, Roland was extremely anxious, his anger flaring up at the last minute.

"The Swan Knights have run into some trouble!" Caslo said quickly as he saw Roland calm down.

"Hmm?" Roland raised an eyebrow, grabbed Caslo, led him into a guest room, and closed the door. "Swan Knights? What happened to them? Has Holfa returned with his men?" Roland asked.

“It’s much worse than this…” Caslow slowly shook his head.

“They’re trapped in the northern mountains of the Iron Hills; they should have retreated up the mountain by now,” Caslow said.

"..." Roland took a deep breath, called Caslo, and headed toward the command center.

"Bang!" Roland rudely pushed open the door, and what came into view was a huge sand table, which clearly recorded the terrain and power distribution of the Western world.

This thing was something Roland came up with on a whim. Since discussing military matters with them in the government hall wasn't going to work, Roland specially set up this separate command room, replacing the obscure maps with a sand table. And because of the dragon knights, the sand table they drew was even more accurate than the maps.

“Here…” Roland pointed with his baton to a rolling hill with small flags representing the Iron Hill dwarves planted on it.

“Yes, it was Ajax who discovered it. The Eastern Yi chariot people have surrounded this knightly corps, and she has gone back to monitor them!” Caslow explained.

Roland nodded noncommittally. For a dragon, this distance was just a matter of flapping its wings a few times. Moreover, the wider the dragon riders' scouting range, the safer the kingdom would be. In this era, airspace security was not a concern.

"By the way! Where are the Ironhill dwarves? Where did they go? Are they just going to watch the Chariot People shit on their heads?" Roland asked in surprise. If that's the case, then the dwarves' temper has indeed improved.

"..." Caslo stared at Roland with the look of someone looking at an idiot, his eyes filled with shock and... pity.

Roland quickly realized the stupid thing he had done. The Iron Hills army had already been taken away by Dain, and the Iron Hills dwarves left behind were too busy playing the fool to bother provoking this group of obviously difficult chariot warriors.

"Ajax tried to drive them away and launch air strikes, but the results were not ideal!" As if knowing what Roland was about to say, Caslow began to give Roland a report.

Roland gave Caslo an approving look. As expected of my first little brother, the tacit understanding is just different! Before I even opened my mouth, Caslo had already said most of it.

“It seems our knights have to intervene. Those chariot warriors are slippery; we can’t possibly use forbidden dragon spells to smash them down. Infantry is too slow; we can only rely on the knights!” Caslo raised his head and handed the choice to Roland.

"Gather the knights, we're going to rescue those unfortunate fellows!" Roland sighed. After all, they had no choice but to rescue them! The future backbone and hope of Gondor rested on this well-organized knightly order! If Horfa and his group were to remain here forever, Gondor would lose a complete knightly order! Roland didn't believe the Swan Knights had more than twenty reserve knights!
For a knightly order, if there aren't enough people to activate the Glory Skill, then the order is useless. It's better to disperse and rely on the strength of individual soldiers to go to the front line and fight.

……

"I finally get a break... and you keep giving me work to do!" Roland complained as Nyx helped him put on his armor.

"Aren't you enjoying it?" Nyx teased, blinking his large, bright eyes.

"Do I look happy to you?" Roland's face was calm, without joy or sorrow... Normally, Roland would be happy to say that they were sensible and knew how to let him have his way, but at this moment... Roland wanted to kill someone.

“Everyone says you’re a warmonger, how could you not be happy about something like this?” Nyx teased Doss on Roland’s shoulder while silently cuddling the Smurf in his arms.

"What? How do you know my nickname! No! This is slander! This is defamation!" Roland quickly changed his tune and said fiercely.
