The Lord of the Rings: Lords of Middle-earth.

Chapter 581 The King's Battle Ends, My Appearance Begins

"Fire arrows! Shoot these bastards to death! Don't be stingy with the arrows! And go check if the communication array is repaired! It always fails at crucial moments!" Apophis Breo stood on the simple wooden and stone pass, directing his valiant warriors to fire crossbow bolts at the orcs below.

"Ouch!" A half-orc who had just climbed up was swung through the heart by Yi Ge and fell down the three-meter-high pass with a wail.

"After this is over, we must reinforce the western pass! The orcs are too easy to climb!" Olaf said to Apophis Breo as he drew his one-handed sword and stabbed an orc who was trying to climb up.

"I wholeheartedly agree!" Apophis Breo swept his spear out, instantly killing dozens of orcs with his lightning-fast battle aura.

"Can anyone tell me where these things come from?" Apophis Breo was completely baffled.

“They’re everywhere! They’re all over the mountains!” Olaf said as he hacked at the orcs.

"Your Highness, the kingdom is aware of our situation, but unfortunately, the dragon riders are being held up by the northern undead. We have to rely on ourselves!" A soldier ran up breathlessly to report bad news to Apophis Breo.

“Dragon God…” Apophis Breo muttered.

"However, the kingdom will send all its griffin riders and the returning dragon rider squads to assist us, along with a large amount of military supplies!" the soldier said, catching his breath.

"Get lost! Don't talk so loudly next time!" Apophis Breo kicked the soldier away. Trying to mess with his mentality, huh?
"Thank God... the king hasn't given up on us yet!" Olaf praised Roland.

"The King will not abandon any of his loyal subjects! For the Kingdom! For the restoration of King's Landing! Fight!" Apophis Breo roared.

The soldiers, having received news of the kingdom's reinforcements, were greatly encouraged and increased the frequency of their attacks.

……

"It's over!" Olaf threw down his long spear and plopped down on a pile of corpses. All around him were snarling warriors and mountains of orcs.

"How many times has this happened!" Apophis Breo sat down without any regard for his image, panting heavily.

"Heh! Who the hell cares about that? We're constantly being attacked, and we're constantly fighting back! If you hadn't come, we probably would have already broken through this barrier!" Olaf sneered.

"How are the brothers doing?" Apophis Breo asked with concern, after all, these men were one of his few remaining resources, and Roland wouldn't resupply them if they were emptied out.

"Who do they think they are? They think they can kill us!" Olaf and the other warriors exchanged a knowing smile, then burst into laughter!

Clearly, the heavily armed Iron Cans were no match for the poorly equipped orcs of the Misty Mountains. These valiant warriors, capable of tearing apart a regular orc army without a scratch, were certainly not to be killed by these trash! As for injuries? No problem! A couple of days of rest and they'll be back to being Lagrange brutes!

“Let the brothers rest…” Apophis Breo nodded.

"Your Highness! Please bring some men to provide support!" Olaf said weakly.

"Heh! Support? This time, the fact that I came with Grand Knight Turden is already the full extent of our support!" Apophis Breo grinned.

“Do you know that all the soldiers in Lion's Keep have been sent out? Now there isn’t a single spare soldier left except for cooks and servants!” Apophis Breo’s lips twitched. “Then what are we fighting for…” Olaf’s facial muscles twitched and finally forced out a smile that looked more like a grimace.

“Don’t worry! A hundred-man squad of valiant warriors is still training, and we’ll soon have extra troops!” Apophis Breo patted Olaf on the shoulder.

"Your Highness, you've gone mad! This is short-sighted exploitation!" Olaf thought Apophis Breo was recklessly recruiting able-bodied men from the commoners, since the Lion Territory only had a little over a hundred men of military age.

“That’s not the case. We’re getting refugees joining our territory every day now. I think we can start recruiting some soldiers.” Apophis Breo explained. Ever since everything in his territory got on track and the entire Lion Territory was displayed on Roland’s panel, the Lagrange faction’s built-in refugee recruitment feature started to take effect. So every day, a few refugees would join his territory. Although it wasn’t much, it was enough for Apophis Breo to expand his army over time.

"That's good." Olaf nodded.

Unbeknownst to them, both of the real lords of the Kingdom of Lagrange were engaged in a war-mongering expansion, except that Apophis Breo wanted to defend his own territory, while Roland wanted to turn those lands into his own.

As the weather warms up, orcs are constantly roaming around Apophis Breo's territory. Orcs frequently charge the western pass, mostly in groups of a few dozen wandering orcs. However, there are also small squads of elite orcs leading some orc cannon fodder to attack the city. Overall, the war between the two sides is not as large as a fortress siege or Roland's battle; it is more appropriate to describe it as a village brawl.

Apophis Breo's knights had performed a great service. These iron cans, like pillars of strength, were enough to deter many lone orcs, and even prevent the attacking orcs from advancing an inch. With them as a fulcrum, Olaf was able to repel the orcs time and time again. However, today's situation was extremely dangerous. Several groups of wandering orcs who had been defeated at the western pass joined forces, and their attack of nearly a thousand orcs almost overwhelmed them. If it weren't for the arrival of two third-tier knights who used their skills to mow them down, they would probably have been overwhelmed and killed by now.

Even so, everyone's bodies were still covered in bruises. After all, it hurt a lot when the orc's club hit them. Many of the warriors had bruises and swelling on their faces when they stood up.

"These orcs are really annoying..." Olaf had a terrible headache. Because they were in the mountains and there was no water source, there was no moat to speak of. They could only rely on their naked eyes to detect the orcs' attacks. If there was a moat, their defenses would be much stronger, at least the orcs wouldn't be able to easily build up their numbers and climb up. Since they couldn't dig a deep moat, they could only raise it.

"Just bear with it, the Kingdom's Sky Knights will be in for a world of hurt when they arrive!" Apophis Breo patted Olaf on the shoulder encouragingly.

"When the Sky Knights arrive, I'll definitely cut down all these trees that are in my way!" Olaf thought to himself. The valley, which was only a few dozen meters from the pass, was filled with towering trees on both sides, which not only affected their field of fire but also provided cover and hiding space for the orcs.

……

"Your Highness, please accept our loyalty! It is wonderful to see the Lagrange royal family on this land again. May your rule prosper!" The dragon knights bowed with their hands on their chests, clearly very satisfied with Roland and the current kingdom.

"Your Highness, the commander of the thousand-strong Lagrange City Guard, Verin Angus, and all the Lagrange City Guard pledge their allegiance to you!" Verin Angus knelt on one knee, his hand on his chest.

"Rise, you are all citizens of the empire. The kingdom is not our end. The empire will eventually be restored! And you are the backbone of the restoration of the empire!" Roland patted them on the shoulder to show his appreciation. After so long, Roland had also learned to say such polite words.

"I have a task for you now!" Roland said, looking at the dragon knights.

"As you wish, wherever your sword points, that is where we will go!" the dragon knights said, bowing their heads.

“Both of the kingdom’s dragon riders are tied up on the northern front, but the kingdom’s western territories, the lands of the Lion King’s Landing, are facing an orc invasion. I hope you can take the griffon riders to support them, at least to help them get through a period of safety!” Roland pointed to the map.

"The King's Landing family actually has an heir?" The dragon knights narrowed their eyes.

“Yes, so no matter what, House King’s Landing cannot be destroyed! Apophis Breo, the current head of House King’s Landing, must also live!” Roland said solemnly, looking at them.
