Chapter 61 The City Wall That Suddenly Rose Up

"System, check the territory page!" Roland lay in his private tent in Swiftstream City and checked the system.

"Damn Renault and Caslo! They actually used my lord's castle as a warehouse!" Roland was furious just looking at the tent above his head. The thought that those two idiots had moved their king's entire palace out to store supplies made him even angrier.

"Use the Magic Rune Fortification Card!" Roland silently took out the artifact magic card from the system space.

"Please select the territory where the card will be used, King!" On the system's pop-up screen, Swiftstream City lay alone in the first row.

“Swiftstream City…” Roland’s lips twitched. He felt that the system’s use of the word “king” was a veiled reference to him, although he had no evidence to prove it.

"Successfully activated! Please wait a moment, host, the magic will take effect soon!" the system's aloof voice announced.

At that moment, the soldiers and workers who were working on the walls of Jiliu City suddenly found that the walls beneath their feet were shrouded in layers of white light, and huge magical fluctuations were coming from the walls.

"Damn it! Forbidden spell! Get down here!" Radil, who had been happily creating magic-patterned stone bricks, was suddenly terrified. What was going on? This wretched place had even attracted the sage's forbidden spell!
"Leave the city! Run! The farther the better!" Radil cried out in despair. Magic flashed beneath him, and he instantly appeared in Roland's tent. Without a word, he grabbed Roland and teleported away from Swiftstream City.

"La-Dil-sir! What's wrong?" Roland was being held by La-Dil, and because of La-Dil's high-speed flight, Roland's mouth was filled with wind.

……

"Huh? The city wall is getting taller?" Marcus scratched his head in confusion.

The soldiers and residents who were working looked in astonishment at the city wall rising higher and higher beneath their feet, the exquisite magic patterns on it no less impressive than the magic-patterned stone bricks made by Radil.

"What...what's going on?"

"The city wall has grown taller!"

"My God, that must be at least 10 meters!"

"This city wall makes me feel much safer than the old one!"

Everyone was amazed by this miraculous change. The 10-meter-high city wall was already effective in defending against most attacks, and now all that was needed was sufficient manpower to successfully defend the city.

……

A few minutes later, Radil returned with Roland, his face dark. After putting Roland down, he ran back to his residence in a flash, having made a huge fool of himself... A dignified war mage was so frightened by a spell that he dragged his own king away in public... This will probably leave a shadow in Radil's heart for the rest of his life.

"Your Highness, you didn't even tell me before you used the magic scroll! It made me... sigh!" Radil muttered to himself in his residence.

At this moment, Roland did not intend to reprimand Radil. After all, Radil was thinking of himself. If a forbidden spell-level magical fluctuation suddenly appeared in any city, the city's garrison mage would not remain indifferent. Escaping with important figures would definitely be the best option. If your city has a sage-level mage, then this statement can be disregarded.

"Sturdy!" Roland slashed the battlements a few times with his Dragon Slayer Sword and, finding only a few clear white marks left, stroked them with satisfaction and exclaimed in admiration.

“Of course! Forbidden magic creates walls that are naturally incredibly strong. I really didn’t expect that the empire would still have such magic scrolls passed down…” Radil sighed with regret, and you could feel how much he longed for the once powerful Lagrange Empire.

"Don't worry, I will restore Lagrange's glory!" Roland clenched his fist as he gazed south. "Good heavens! What's happening here? Do you have an earth-elemental sage under your command?" A shadow drifted in from the sky; the newcomer was none other than Star Dragon Knight Peter Gro.

“I have come to offer my condolences on the king’s orders, Your Majesty King Roland.” Peter Gross leaped down from the dragon’s back and gracefully performed an elven noble bow.

"Please thank Iovia for her concern. Where is she?" Roland asked curiously. Logically speaking, White Wing and Iovia should have come to check on him by now.

"The two kings went to scout in the Dark Forest together, and just now our cavalry was ambushed by orcs again." Peter Gross said with a grave expression.

"What a huge problem!" Roland sighed. White Wing was probably the king with the worst foundation among the three kings. The Star Elves had a deep foundation with more than three thousand years of heritage, and Roland was a cheat code. Only White Wing had to carefully calculate the cards in his hand. One careless move could lead to the destruction of his clan and country. He didn't have a system.

"How badly did the White Wing King suffer losses?" Roland asked hurriedly, thinking of this.

"Well, the knights are fine, but more than a dozen ordinary cavalrymen have been killed." Peter Groh thought for a moment.

"Holy crap! Whitewing must be heartbroken! They only have two hundred cavalrymen, and now one-twentieth of them are gone!" Roland thought to himself, but he had to admit that Azog's move was very effective. In winter, when no one can launch a large-scale attack, the tactic of slowly bleeding them out is very clever. In terms of attrition warfare, Roland and his men could just restart the war. This move hit the Allied forces right where it hurts.

"I wonder how things are up north..." Roland looked towards Lonely Mountain with some concern.

“I’m worried about the woodland elves now…” Peter Groh hesitated, the two elven races sharing a deep history and a common plight.

“No, no, no, I’m not worried about Thranduil, I’m afraid of Irubb of Lonely Mountain!” Roland said solemnly.

“The orcs wouldn’t be so foolish as to fight the forest rangers in the jungle! Their numerical advantage is best utilized in the plains and cities!” Roland said, emphasizing each word.

“If the Orcs attack Lonely Mountain and Thranduil’s army can’t catch up, then it will be useless no matter how well we defend the south!” Roland said calmly, glancing at Peter Gros.

“But you know the relationship between woodland elves and dwarves…” Peter Groh gestured with his hands.

“That’s the most troublesome thing,” Roland sighed.

"Forget it, Your Majesty, there's no need to think about it anymore. We might not even be able to handle the southern battlefield, so how can we have the mind to pay attention to the northern battlefield..." Renault said casually to Roland as he climbed the city wall.

“Yes! The reinforcements from Mordor are suffocating us.” Peter Groh stared in the direction of Mordor. If looks could kill, Mordor would probably be sunk to the ground by now.

"There are still too few soldiers!" Roland said, looking at the sparse number of soldiers in the city.

"Many of our people are still wandering... If only a wandering army could arrive!" Caslo was already dreaming even before the sun was up in the sky.

Roland glanced at Renault discreetly. These soldiers returning as a wandering force were all given to him by his system! They had absolutely nothing to do with this Middle-earth!
