Chapter 1523 Biological Attack

Chapter 1523 Biological Attack
Liu Haiyu remained silent. Feng Mingjun was right; Su Tianyu had clearly revealed a flaw on purpose this time. Otherwise, given Su Tianyu's counter-surveillance capabilities, it would have been difficult to trap him.

Feng Mingjun said, "Xu Chunliang and Su Tianyu just spoke."

Liu Haiyu nodded.

Why not cut off their contact?

Liu Haiyu answered cautiously, "It's mainly for Su Qing's safety. That call was made to Su Qing by Xu Chunliang."

Feng Mingjun stared coldly at Liu Haiyu until he lowered his head, then said, "You've been doing this job for so many years, how can you still be so careless? What are they saying?"

Liu Haiyu shook his head, thinking to himself, "That's your son. How can I listen to his conversation with Su Qing without your orders?"

Feng Mingjun said, "You have disappointed me greatly. Contact Xu Chunliang and tell him to come down from the rooftop as soon as possible."

Liu Haiyu said, "He hopes to have more time to persuade Su Tianyu."

Feng Mingjun chuckled and said, "Su Tianyu has a stubborn personality. Once he sets his mind on a path, he will stick to it no matter what. It's not something that can be changed in a short time."

Liu Haiyu nodded and contacted Xu Chunliang, asking, "Xiao Xu, how's the situation now?"

Xu Chunliang said, "I'm trying to persuade him to release the hostages. Can't you be a little more patient?"

Liu Haiyu looked at Feng Mingjun, who then made a gesture to summon him back.

Liu Haiyu said, "For your safety, you should come back as soon as possible. Su Tianyu has lost his mind and is capable of doing anything crazy. You are in a very dangerous situation."

Xu Chunliang said, "I want to try harder."

Liu Haiyu said sternly, "Come back immediately, that's an order."

Xu Chunliang said calmly, "Whose order? Don't forget I'm not one of yours, you have no right to give me any instructions."

Liu Haiyu looked at Feng Mingjun with a hint of helplessness.

Feng Mingjun gestured to his subordinates to connect to Xu Chunliang's channel and said softly, "Chunliang, come back."

Xu Chunliang looked at the drones hovering overhead and knew that his every move could not escape their eyes. He sighed and asked, "Director Feng, did you arrange this operation?" He did not take the initiative to reveal his relationship with Feng Mingjun.

Feng Mingjun said, "Chunliang, listen carefully. This matter is of utmost importance. You must not treat it lightly. Come back now, immediately!"

Xu Chunliang asked, "If I leave, can you guarantee Su Qing's safety?"

Feng Mingjun did not answer; she did not want to lie.

Xu Chunliang said, "I will not leave alone unless I am certain that Su Qing is safe."

Feng Mingjun sighed and said, "Besides Su Qing, there are six other people who have been kidnapped. In our eyes, all lives are equal. Pure and innocent, this is none of your business. Even if you stay, it won't help. Come back immediately and let us handle this, okay?"

Xu Chunliang said, "What if I insist?"

Feng Mingjun said, "Don't make things difficult for me."

Xu Chunliang took off the miniature communicator and threw it on the ground. He guessed that Feng Mingjun was probably already suspicious of his identity. Now that Feng Mingjun's identity allowed her to access more secret information, if she believed that he was not her son Xu Cong, logically she would regard him as an enemy—the enemy who took away her biological son's body.

Inside the command vehicle, Feng Mingjun's expression was unpredictable, and Liu Haiyu dared not speak easily; the atmosphere was extremely oppressive.

An assistant reported to Feng Mingjun that they had conducted a full scan of the building and found that there were only three living beings inside. This meant that Su Tianyu and his daughter, Xu Chunliang, and the six missing medical staff were not in the building.

This was the result Feng Mingjun had been waiting for. After a moment of contemplation, she said to Liu Haiyu, "Start the operation immediately."

Liu Haiyu finally couldn't help but remind him, "Xiao Xu is still up there, what if..." He knew very well the relationship between Feng Mingjun and Xu Chunliang, and believed that Feng Mingjun would not take the risk easily.

Feng Mingjun said calmly, "This is the best opportunity to capture Su Tianyu, and we will not miss it because of anyone's obstruction."

Liu Haiyu nodded and got out of the command vehicle. He tried to contact Xu Chunliang but found that he could not reach him. He could only use the most traditional way of shouting, shouting to the rooftop: "Listen up, people inside, don't make another mistake. It's not too late to turn back now."

Four more drones took off into the air, monitoring the building's rooftop from different angles, striving to ensure there were no blind spots. It could be said that any movement on the rooftop was under surveillance.

Xu Chunliang, who had been keeping a close eye on the changes in the sky, realized that the operation had already begun in full swing. He had to stop it and ensure that Su Tianyu would not be disturbed in any way within the next two hours, otherwise Su Qing's life would be in danger.

Having learned from the previous crash, the drone effectively controlled its flight altitude to ensure that the same thing would not happen again. Feng Mingjun, with a complex expression, watched the live feed from the drone and ordered, "Action! Take control of the rooftop within ten minutes."

After receiving the order, Liu Haiyu waved his hand, and a fully armed six-man squad entered the building.

The operation had just begun when birdsong came from overhead. A flock of chirping sparrows took flight and rushed headlong into the air towards the circling drone.

Drone pilots have seen birds attack drones before, but this is the first time they have encountered dozens of birds attacking a drone in an organized and purposeful manner.

The tiny sparrows, seemingly oblivious to their own lives, crashed into the drone one after another. Birds usually attack drones because they feel their territory has been invaded, and they often retaliate by intimidation or defecating. Such suicidal crashes are quite rare.

One drone after another was struck by sparrows, and several sparrows were shredded into mud by the high-speed rotating propellers. But this did not scare them away. The smell of blood and the fluttering feathers only provoked the sparrows to attack even more frantically. In an instant, all eight drones in the air were hit and lost control, falling from the sky to the ground.

Those involved in the operation downstairs quickly retreated to avoid being injured by the falling drone.

Liu Haiyu hurriedly reported this emergency to Feng Mingjun. Although Feng Mingjun was in the car, he immediately learned that the drone swarm had encountered a problem. Due to the frenzied attack by the birds, all eight drones they used to monitor the rooftop had crashed. In addition to the one destroyed by Xu Chunliang, they had lost nine drones.

The direct consequence of the drone crash was that they lost control of the rooftop.

The instructions Liu Haiyu received from Feng Mingjun were to continue the operation.

The fully armed six-person team had reached the third floor via the emergency staircase. When they arrived at the relay platform, one of the team members whispered, "Did you hear anything?"

All six people listened intently and heard a humming sound, like that of a machine running.

"Air conditioning?" one person guessed.

The captain shook his head. He had already cut off the building's power before they entered, so the sound couldn't be from the air conditioner. He gestured for one of his team members to go scout ahead.

The team member walked up a few steps, and before he even reached the corner, he saw a swarm of wasps rushing down from in front of him. He shouted in fright, "Wasps, retreat! Retreat!"

The swarm of bees had already covered the team member in an instant, and by the time the remaining five team members heard the warning, it was too late.

The captain remained relatively calm and quickly reminded everyone not to fire to avoid accidentally injuring each other. Although they had a mission to complete, continuing forward was no longer a realistic option.

The swarm of bees attacked them relentlessly. Although they were fully armed and covered up, the swarm blocked their vision, and they retreated while flapping their wings.

Upon receiving the report, Liu Haiyu immediately decided to have the assault team retreat first. He quickly deployed high-pressure water guns at the exit, and once the team members had retreated, he used the sprayed liquid from the water guns to disperse the wasps.

Although the assault team escaped unscathed, they were in a sorry state, with four members being stung by wasps due to inadequate protective gear.

Liu Haiyu's infiltration operation failed as soon as it began, and he went to report to Feng Mingjun in a disheveled state.

Feng Mingjun did not blame him, but silently looked down and flipped through a document that recorded Xu Chunliang's actions over the past few years. This was not the first time that a swarm of bees had attacked humans while Xu Chunliang was present. Each incident may seem accidental on its own, but when several incidents are connected, a pattern can be found within the accidental events.

Liu Haiyu said with a bitter face, "Director Feng, I don't know what's going on today. First, the drone was attacked by a flock of birds, and then wasps attacked the assault team like crazy."

Feng Mingjun asked, "Is it possible that this was done by someone?"

Liu Haiyu said, "That's impossible. I've never heard of a person being able to command sparrows to attack drones. I've only ever seen wasps attacking people in novels, though."

A faint smile appeared on Feng Mingjun's lips: "Biological attack, interesting."

"Biological attack?" Liu Haiyu repeated, puzzled.

Feng Mingjun nodded: "It's definitely not a coincidence."

Liu Haiyu said, "You mean Su Tianyu orchestrated all of this? He possesses the ability to launch biological attacks?"

Feng Mingjun said, "It might be him, or it might be someone else."

Liu Haiyu seemed to realize something, but he didn't dare voice his guess. He coughed and asked, "Director Feng, should we continue with this operation?"

Feng Mingjun said, "Do you think your petty tricks can stop us? Refine the action plan and begin the second operation immediately."

This operation increased the manpower of the assault team, with each member fully protected to effectively defend against swarm attacks, and equipped with chemical sprays to eliminate any potential biological attacks.

After regrouping, the ten-man assault team launched another operation twenty minutes later. This time, they still carefully made their way up to the third floor via the safety staircase, stepping over the dead wasps on the ground. This time, they were not attacked by wasps as they had been before.
