Chapter 469 Scapegoat
The atmosphere inside the room became tense and confrontational.

Wu Xie and Fatty realized something was wrong and caught a glimpse of Zhang Wuxun's hand hanging by his side gesturing for them to retreat.

The two immediately joined hands and hid in a corner of the room, minimizing their presence, peeking out from between the bookshelves to steal glances at the center of the room.

Looking at Zhang Wuxun and Zhang Haike, before his patience ran out, Feng issued his final ultimatum: "Mr. Bai, Mr. Zhang, I have always been sincere about our cooperation and have offered many things that are beneficial to both of us. Although the Zhang family is an indispensable factor in achieving our goals, this should not be a reason for you to deceive me again and again."

“Mr. Bai, actually, back when we started working together a year ago, when you asked to see Ms. Bai’s video, you already knew that she wasn’t in our hands, right?”

Feng looked at Zhang Wuxun coldly, the friendly smile on his face gone, and the aura he had been deliberately suppressing was now released.

Only then did he reveal his true face beneath his hypocrisy.

Zhang Wuxun was not surprised at all. Someone who could lead the German team twice was no ordinary person.

He casually spilled the tea in his hand, turned the cup upside down on the table, stood up, put his hands behind his back, and said coldly, "Since that's the case, then there's nothing more to talk about."

A hint of anger flashed across Feng's face. "Mr. Bai, don't refuse a toast only to suffer the consequences."

As soon as he finished speaking, the German deputy leader and Nick beside him simultaneously drew their guns and pointed them at the heads of Zhang Wuxun and Zhang Haike.

Zhang Haike hissed softly, his eyes filled with malice. "I advise you to move this thing away, otherwise it might go off in a minute, and then we'll have nothing left to talk about."

Feng snorted, "My guns are very steady. What Mr. Zhang should worry about now is how to persuade Mr. Bai to face reality. Those guys outside are not as friendly as I am."

“We do need to face reality.” Zhang Wuxun nodded in agreement, then changed the subject with a smile, “But not me, but you.”

Feng narrowed his eyes. He didn't think the Bai and Zhang families could easily deal with the heavily armed mercenary team outside. "What do you mean?"

Zhang Wuxun gently beckoned, and Dan immediately put her finger to her lips and whistled a long, drawn-out whistle, like summoning a hawk.

With a loud bang, the door was rudely kicked open from the outside.

While Feng and the others were distracted by looking at the door, Zhang Haixing teleported instantly, propped herself up on the table with one hand, and leaped into the air, kicking Nick's wrist with a flying kick.

With a crisp cracking sound, Nick's pistol fell from his hand and was caught in mid-air by Zhang Haixing, who had landed and regained her footing.

Nick screamed in pain, and as soon as he realized what was happening, he clenched his other fist and slammed it down on Zhang Haixing's temple. Zhang Haixing bent over to the side, changed her right hand from a palm to a fist, and punched him in the armpit. Nick's arm instantly lost its strength and fell down.

After suffering two defeats in a row, Nick became enraged and rammed forward with brute force. Zhang Haixing, who was slender, could not withstand the impact and immediately retreated and rolled on the ground to dissipate the force of the collision.

Nick quickly caught up, and just as Zhang Haixing scrambled to her feet, he swept his leg towards her knee.

Zhang Haixing reacted extremely quickly. She bent her knees and jumped up to dodge, then stepped on Nick's sweeping leg with one foot. Using the momentum, she jumped up and delivered a knee strike to his chin, knocking the 200-pound giant Nick overboard. He fell heavily to the ground, only able to howl in pain.

Everything happened in the blink of an eye. Zhang Haixing's figure was so fast that it left afterimages. She used speed to strike with force, and Nick was completely powerless to fight back.

Taking advantage of his illness to kill him, Zhang Haixing did not hesitate and ended Nick's life with a single shot.

On the other side, Dan acted even more swiftly and decisively, drawing the hunting knife from his back and swinging it out, piercing the German's hand.

The German cried out in pain, but before he could react, Dan's blade had already grazed his neck.

The German took a few steps back, his legs twitching and going weak uncontrollably, and he eventually tripped and fell to the ground.

Blood gushed from the gash on the side of his neck, like a spring. Perhaps until the very last second before he breathed his last, this German man didn't understand how he had died.

Dan picked up the pistol soaked in blood, wiped it clean with the corner of his clothes, compared it with his original short-barreled shotgun, and found that the new one was indeed much more advanced. He nodded in satisfaction and clipped both guns to his belt.

Zhang Long half-retracted his foot, stood leisurely in the doorway with his hands in his sleeves, his face showing a calm and composed demeanor. He glanced around the room and nodded with satisfaction, "Not bad."

Seeing Wu Xie and Fatty huddled together in the corner, he twitched his eye and turned away.

Feng's face was deathly pale, and he tried his best to suppress the trembling all over his body. The wide-open doorway allowed him to see very clearly that the people lying haphazardly in the yard were all his subordinates.

He didn't realize what methods the Zhang family had used, but all the people he had prepared outside had already met with misfortune!

The situation had completely reversed before it even began!
Feng was so angry that his lips were trembling and his face was ashen. "You guys really have some tricks up your sleeves. Aren't you afraid of retaliation from our headquarters for blatantly tearing up the contract like this?"

“Your headquarters is too secretive. We’ve investigated for years but haven’t found anything more. Naturally, we’re still a bit wary.” Zhang Long half-avoided the mess on the ground and stepped in. “But we still have to thank you for providing us with a scapegoat.”

Feng was somewhat bewildered. "What scapegoat?"

Zhang Longban smiled but did not answer, "Anyway, the teams you have sent into the snow mountain have disappeared more than once or twice, so what's wrong with disappearing a few more times?"

Feng immediately understood that they had already taken action against the branch stronghold in Motuo, and that he was probably the only one left alive among the people sent there.

He tried his best to hide his immense panic, gritting his teeth.

His mind raced, and he realized that the previous feigned cooperation was just a delaying tactic. In fact, it could be said that it was all a trap from the very beginning, and the Zhang family wanted to eliminate everyone who coveted the secret of the Bronze Gate.

The only reason he kept his life was to obtain the complete star map.

Zhang Wuxun feigned an "oh dear," and casually remarked, "This is a sacred Buddhist site. It's not appropriate for us to be engaging in such a bloody massacre."

Zhang Long glanced at the still-warm corpse lying on the ground and said emotionlessly, "This area behind the mountain was developed by the Zhang family themselves, and strictly speaking, it doesn't actually belong to the Lama Temple."

"I see, then I'm relieved." Zhang Wuxun smiled sincerely. "Otherwise, it would be troublesome if the master blamed us later."

Zhang Haixing interrupted their conversation, pointing her pistol at the unconscious 'White Bell' slumped on the ground, and asked, "What should we do with this one? I can't stand her face. Maybe we should just peel it off?" Upon hearing this, 'White Bell' turned ashen-faced, nearly fainting from fright. She quickly opened her eyes and shouted, "My face is fake! I was just hired by them! It's not my fault!"

Zhang Haixing despised such weak people the most. She sneered, "Such a useless piece of trash, even if she knows something, she probably won't be their core member. I think we should just knock her out and throw her down the mountain to fend for herself."

He was about to take action after saying that.

"Wait a minute," Zhang Wuxun suddenly said, stopping her.

Zhang Haixing looked over with an unfriendly gaze. "What, are you interested in this imposter?"

“Of course not.” Zhang Wuxun stared intently into her eyes. “It’s probably not appropriate to handle it so hastily. We need to test it again.”

Zhang Haixing's eyes flickered slightly. "How do you want to test it?"

"Whoa—what are you guys up to now?" Fatty and Wu Xie strolled over from the corner. "The real and fake Monkey King? Of course, we need to ask the Thunder Buddha for help. There are plenty of master monks in this temple. Just invite a few over to recite the Tightening-Headband Mantra, and all the demons and monsters will reveal their true forms."

“The master monks have gone to Mount Ling for arduous cultivation. They won’t be back for at least ten days or half a month.” Zhang Wuxun bent down and patted Crescent Moon’s head, saying, “Without the Thunder Buddha, the Howling Celestial Dog is the same. Crescent Moon, go and see what kind of person that guy pretending to be your mother really is.”

Crescent Moon was very clever and immediately understood his meaning. She took a few steps closer to the 'White Bell' and kept scanning the air for information with her nose.

'White Bell' was covered in cold sweat, feeling as if she had fallen into an icy cellar. Her eyes were fixed on Crescent Moon, fearing that the big dog would suddenly pounce on her and bite her.

Crescent Moon seemed to have caught a whiff of something. It suddenly stopped, its eyes flashing with ferocity. It let out a short, low bark at the woman, bared its gleaming white canines, its mane bristling, its ears standing upright parallel to its head, its forelegs pressed down, and its torso slightly arched – a show of force before it was about to attack and bite.

Anyone could see Crescent Moon's hostility towards 'White Bell'.

Zhang Haike raised an eyebrow with some interest. "What, did your dog discover something?"

"I've discovered something that your Zhang family will definitely find very interesting."

Zhang Wuxun knew that his previous suspicions were correct, and it seemed that Feng was unaware of the true background of 'White Bell'.

"Crescent Moon," Zhang Wu called out, patting his side. "Come lean against me."

Crescent Moon growled again in the direction of 'White Bell', its expression even more alert than before. Its four paws dug into the floor, ready to attack at any moment. When it heard Zhang Wuxun calling it, it turned its head and looked over, its big, dark eyes filled with bloodthirsty excitement.

“Yes, I know.” Zhang Wuxun patted his leg again. “Come closer first. This might be a bit dangerous. It’s not time for you to make a move yet.”

These words were clearly directed at the dog. Everyone was completely bewildered, wondering what Bai Ci and his dog had discovered.
Its thick, crescent-shaped tail stands tall, with the tip curling back towards the base. The entire tail trembles incessantly like a rattlesnake, a sign of its great confidence in its strength.

But upon hearing Zhang Wuxun's second command, it turned around, wagged its tail, and ran back. It sniffed in the direction of the others before standing safely beside Zhang Wuxun.

Wu Xie stared at the dog curiously, inwardly marveling at how much stronger it had become in such a short time.

Although his grandfather made his fortune by training dogs to navigate the tombs using their sense of smell, by the time it was passed down to Wu Xie's generation, he had only ever seen his second uncle train dogs when he was a child. He had never actually trained a dog himself, and only its owner, who was familiar with it, could understand what the dog was trying to express.

Zhang Haike seemed to understand something from Zhang Wuxun's words. Staring at 'White Bell's' face, he said thoughtfully, "You mean, she has a map on her?"

Upon hearing this, all the Zhang family members present became alert, and the baby-faced Zhang family member was already preparing to step forward and restrain her.

But before they knew it, a dark shadow flashed by, and an unexpected change occurred!

The seemingly harmless 'White Bell' who had been lying limp on the ground suddenly sprang up, shooting out a series of blades from her mouth. In the instant that everyone was scrambling to dodge, she had already leaped over the wall of people and headed straight for Wu Xie behind her.

However, Zhang Wuxun was prepared. The moment 'White Bell' pounced over, he flashed in front of Wu Xie and pulled him away.

'White Bell' held a syringe in her hand, but it was empty. So she decided to go all the way and stabbed Zhang Wuxun in the neck.

But Zhang Wuxun grabbed her wrist, twisted it, and pulled her close. With his other hand, he grabbed her neck and slammed her to the ground.

With a loud bang, the floor shook violently.

Zhang Wuxun showed no mercy, and 'White Bell's' spine was directly fractured. He lay on the ground, his legs twitching uncontrollably, and blood spilled from the corner of his mouth.

Zhang Wuxun's face was dark and gloomy. He grabbed her by the neck with one hand and lifted her up. His five fingers tightened slightly, and 'White Bell' immediately couldn't breathe.

The excruciating pain and suffocation throughout her body made her face turn pale, and she hung limply in Zhang Wuxun's hands like a dying fish struggling for its life.

That fall probably broke several of her thoracic vertebrae, punctured her spinal canal, and caused severe damage to her spinal cord and nerves. She is now a disabled person who cannot move her hands and feet.

Zhang Wuxun controlled the pressure in his hand, releasing it before 'White Bell' completely breathed her last, allowing air to flow into her burning lungs.

"What is this?" He held up the mini syringe he had removed in front of 'White Bell' and asked coldly.

The injection contained only ten millimeters of blue-green liquid, which didn't look like snake venom, but Zhang Wuxun couldn't be sure. Even if it wasn't snake venom, it definitely wasn't anything good.

When faced with three identical faces, the woman clearly headed towards Wu Xie. It was obvious that she had a connection with him, who was hiding in the Zhang family's group, and she knew exactly who "Wu Xie" was.

'White Bell's' chest heaved slightly, and blood foam kept dripping from the corner of her mouth, yet she still glared at Zhang Wuxun with hateful eyes.

Knowing she had been exposed and was doomed, she tried to bite down on the medicine packet hidden in her nest, but Zhang Wuxun quickly grabbed her chin and pulled it off.

Zhang Haixing's face was extremely pale. Just now, because of her underestimation of the enemy, she almost let such a troublesome guy escape.
